I am from New Zealand, we have the most amazing native freshwater eel. It is the largest species of freshwater eel in the world. Growing up to 2meters long and 40kilo they live for up to 100years and spawn at the end of there long life. They travel to the subtropical Pacific Ocean to spawn and die. The New Zealand long fin eel. It is however in decline. As they take so long to grow to spawning maturity.

Growing up I would spend hours and hours fishing off the docks at my trailer park and once in a blue moon they would absolutely demolish a panfish I was reeling in. The catch is that people around here will often kill Bowfin because they are mistakenly believed to be an envasive species(or that they hurt bass populations, which is false in it's own right); in reality they have inhabited these waters for millions of years.

My favorite is definitely red tail catfish. I just love their colors that looks like it's man made, how strong they are and how they only have to use their size as a defense mechanism, having an extremely fast metabolism when they're small, because once they are full grown nothing can take them out. They even have a defense against humans, because they eat decomposing carcasses so their flesh sometimes get black and have a horrible taste.

I know it's not a very "interesting" fish by most people's standards (and we certainly have a lot of flashier, more charismatic species in Ohio), but my favorite here is the Bluegill. Mostly, I think, because there are fond childhood memories attached.
As an aside, much as I realize the sarcasm and calling out poor behavior from the Fish Tank Review series has sort of become your "brand" (and I like that series as well), I love videos like this where you just talk about things you love. It's a nice little respite from everything else going on.
