  • This is a video made by Kibbutz Yotvata Volunteers to show an example of one day as a volunteer.
    In the video you'll see how and where the volunteers eat, work, sleep, have fun, enjoy, experience and just have a great time.
    This video just invites to get an insight of the life as a kibbutz volunteer in Israel.

      @@youshinenaara7031 if you mean how could you spend half a year on a kbz it is simple - if you go through KPC you get an automatic visa, good for either two or three months, I forget which. After that the kibbutz arranges extensions with the Interior Ministry for a nominal sum - around 300 New ISR shecks. That is about 75 USD and you have to pay it (not the kbz) . The Kbz might pay you say 25 USD equivalent in pocket money a month so if you save it all you break even on the Visa bit. You can keep leapfrogging like this for a year and after that you are expected to leave the country (for at least a month or so ) unless you have a rabbinic certificate you are Jewish. .. in that case you might make two years but after that you will find that if you don't want to take citizenship they will make it hard on you. There are more demanding visa requirements for some south American countries (interviews and so on ) and for certain countries which don't need to be named, you will never get past immigration or even on to the aircraft/ship in the first place. Hope that helps.
      KPC as mentioned below by Peleg M below is the only place that now handles placements.

      I used to wonder the same thing. I spent about 15 months in Israel back in the late 80's or so and loved almost every minute of it as volunteer on Kibbutz Gadot and later on Kibbutz Mefalsim. The only thing that stopped me from making aliyah was the forced inscription into the armed forces. I would have been more than happy to work in let's say some kitchen of the armed forces but not willing to take up arms and possibly have to kill others.
      Volunteer quarters at Gadot were the pits, but at Mefalsim I was able to secure a "single" members housing(which is somewhat nicer than volunteers quarters) that I shared with Oren (a native Israeli armed services personnel) who taught me so much about Israel and just life in general for Israelis. The one thing that still sticks out in my mind all these years later was having dinner in the communal dining room and seeing an Israeli woman pull out a cigarette, so I went over to light it for her, and she said "how kind, you must be American".

    Well, dirty indoor unskilled work such as kitchen porter /assistant are done by the Volunteers. Outdoor hard physical work are sometimes done by Palestinian and Druze labourers. Some Kibbutznicks (kibbutz members) are just lazy the majority which are not, and work hard at being in charge or in skilled work sometimes outside the Kibbutz. As a Volunteer you have no rights and get no money, but the food is nice though and sometimes the accommodation is too.

    • @pelegmayer
      @pelegmayer  Před 5 lety +8

      Man that sounds like you had a rough time in the dishwasher.. it's partly true.. some volunteers do get to work at the dinning room and wash dishes WITH the other kibbutznicks. I'm a kibbutznick myself, i worked on the potato fields of the kibbutz with volunteers by my side. Now i'm working in the gardens of the kibbutz and always had at list 2 volunteers working with me so there is that. About the Palstininan\Druze workers.. some Kibbutz's are old in a way of not having a big amount of young workers in them and they do need to get skilled workers from the outside the kibbutz who knows the job and are skilled works, its not a secret.
      In general, almost everybody works, and the one's who doesn't has there own issues and it just sounds like you've been sitting on your ass to long gossiping like an old kibbutz member about how life is not great.. do some research before you judge and remember.. you VOLUNTEERED.
