    2:50 "...It is attached to a Merfolk, so that is a downside"
    I know it's probably meant in the same way that Magus of the Moon is a Blood Moon attached to a body, but that line about specifically being a merfolk made me chuckle a bit lol

    • @Seergun
      @Seergun Před měsícem +5

      No, i actually think he's actually dising merfilk. He's mentioned in other videos that he doesn't like merfolk (the deck specifically, i believe) very much

    Thanks for playing it Phil! Deck looked solid. Wrath does seem awkward, I mainly liked it vs the concept of chalice decks while hedging vs artifact decks. Chalice can lock the deck down hard so you do need some stuff vs it. That's actually why I put some endings in the board so you could have removal for delver while having some more options vs chalice. Might be more important to answer reanimator in this metagam so might cut 1 skies for another surgical, path, or borrower. Seems the core is solid though.

      Hey buddy! Just added you on discord. I played this exact list yesterday on paper. It felt solid. Wrath was amazing. Lost to reani and jeskai control.

      Yeah, this core was very strong. With some tuning, this feels like a real contender.

      I'm guessing ugin's binding is just too expensive for only 1 playset of 7 drops.

    I love how he frazed the harbinger of the seas as "our bloodmoon but in blue. It is attached to a merfolk which is a downside.". The way he chose to say "merfolk" and not "creature" is an other unintentional jab against merfolk as a tribe and i love it. XD

    Also hushbringer is like doorkeeper thrull (1/2 flying for 1 white + 1 generic) except it doesn’t have flash or impact artifacts coming into play and instead it has lifelink (but at 1 power that’s mostly irrelevant)

    What is the reasoning for Wastelanding a land on the opponent's upkeep rather than right away on your own turn? Genuinely curious because I can't think of a difference.

    • @andreyuvarov254
      @andreyuvarov254 Před měsícem +4

      If opponent has some way to save their land, they has to spend mana on their turn. Useful against opposing stifles or crop rotation style effects.

    • @noahlowrie6742
      @noahlowrie6742 Před měsícem +2

      If you waste them they can float a mana then use that to cast an instant. If you wait until their turn it can force them to be less efficient with their mana. Thats all i can come up with tbh

    • @olafthemoose9413
      @olafthemoose9413 Před měsícem

      The big one is to make stifle etc on your wasteland worse.

    • @Cowter4
      @Cowter4 Před měsícem +1

      Yeah if they also have stifle, making them tap their land on their upkeep means they don’t have the mana for the turn

    37:05 Doorkeeper Thrull would have prevented Thought Knot Seer anyway, you didn't have to hide anything. Also getting Brainstorm locked that game wasn't really a "risk", because if you were Brainstorm locked on lands you would have failed to draw a land for three consecutive turns anyway and lost regardless. Brainstorming is just correct.

    • @alexortiz9777

    If wasteland + stifle is the way to get out of the early game, it makes sense other decks that play with wasteland are tough to fight.

    Would Uro (or maybe phlage?) Be worth considering in this list?
    Or do we just have enough threats and the 3rd color's not worth it

      the deck used to play uro before nulldrifter. playing three colors is a real cost. in my list i play a single triumph of st katherine as another win condition that's reasonably easy to set up with your cantrips

    That first game was a massacre, ewww XD
    Scratch that, that first ROUND was just totally unfair XD
    Scratch that, that whole tournament was nuts, it took you literally THE worst luck to lose, since no deck could have survived flooding under THAT many lands without any out like this.

    what an absolute tragic run of lands right at the end. It took both you AND the opponent drawing nothing but lands for them to fight back in game 1, and then you blanked on actual cards in game 2 while they drew well.
