I’m considering going for the LLM SQE or maybe just SQE1&2 Prep courses (depending on finances) but I’m torn between Ulaw and BPP they seem to be the most talked about but yet both so 50/50! I already went to a “bad” uni for my LLM and don’t want to risk it again for something as hard as the SQE. How was the quality of teaching and resources at BPP? Apparently the pass rates are high at BPP, they have connections and firms often send their trainees future trainees there but I do want to know more about peoples honest experiences of the actual content and what the content is like for Ulaw as well

Very surprised to hear about your ulaw experience. I haven’t heard one good thing about them.. I had such an issue getting a refund from ulaw and to get anywhere I had to submit a formal complaint …..

I'm doing accountancy with BPP now. I chose to study with them because the book publishing side is really good: their textbooks and question banks are excellent. The BPP training provider however are such a disappointment . No consistent teachers, Teachers who don't know how to teach, teachers who DON'T want to teach. there was one teacher who made it clear to students that they don't care if they pass or not. Another wold be sarcastic when you ask questions and not return work submitted. There was one teacher who came in about 1.5 hours late when she did turn up she was having a mental health episode and it was really obvious. She couldn't operate the computer, stand or sit still and would often leave the class for long unexplained pauses. I don't blame the teacher for having mental health problems but I do blame BPP for contracting her to work at different locations daily when she clearly can't cope with the stress. Another teacher couldn't teach the ABC if she tried and yet she would make arbitrary rules in her class like we were a bunch of children; she told off a fellow student because he said in class that he found one of the concepts we were learning to be easy. Even now they are having problems with booking me for an exam because their IT systems can't process the application form my sponsor signed. When I get my qualification it will be in spite of going to BPP and not because of it.

So who are we recommending BPP, University of Law or City Law School. Is the recommendation different for BVC / BTC rather than SQE?

I'm starting with BPP shortly for the SQE and the organisational skills of that 'univerisity' are a JOKE. A joke. And I'm not laughing, because it's a joke at my expensive, LITERALLY. I'm genuinely frustrated all the time at how awful their admin is. If you're reading this, just pay the extra money and go to Uni of Law. BPP is a mess, it's actually pathetic that they call themselves a university and provide this mess, we're not some little 18 year olds, I have a job and their inability to organise has made my job situation unstable.

      Hi
I just got an offer from both BPP and UoL. I’m so confused about which to accept.
I heard bpp helps with practical experience which is what I need whereas UoL focuses more on theoretical knowledge which I already possess since I have already done an LLM.
But now I’m confused on one hand BPP has good practical experience modules but no organizational skills on the other hand UoL is just theoretical knowledge no practical knowledge.

@@kashishnenwani9837 I think you're completely right - BPP has good focus on practise. So far I've already got access to my study materials, and it's a massive focus on examples, how to apply the rules in practise, giving problems that need careful unpicking. As you say, you've done an LLM so I admit, that even with the awful awful admin of BPP, you might find yourself less bored here. One thing that really put me off of UoL was 1. the higher costs, and 2. the internal exams seem to have more essays AKA more theory focused. The SQE is hard. Nearly 50% fail rate, that's hard. I don't know about you, but I don't want to also be worrying about writing essays all the time.
So to conclude, I think nothing will change the fact that BPP has crap organisation, but if you know that going in and just expect to constantly have to call them up and chase them up about things, it might not be as awful. If like I am, you need to work at the same time, chasing people up is tough, though, there's just no time for it. The study material is good though.
Ofc I can't help you completely as I've never experienced UoL but I hope that has at least given you a bit more to think about! Feel free to ask me anything else.
