    Nice video Sir.👍
Congrats on the success of getting eggs. I'm not a professional but would like to share just a few pointers. Yes you are correct with the temperature, ial and water conditions also with looking for the female enlarged ovipositor to see if ready to breed & yes definitely if your going to breed bettas then they wont be show grades as both will have damaged fins and not regain 100% condition. Here's a few tips that worked well for me.
    1. Condition the pairs for minimum of 2 weeks feeding high protein foods especially live foods or frozen. Good Quality Pellets can be used but the frozen blood worms or black worms works better imo. Now you need to allow them the pairs to see each other only during the conditioning process. Allow them to flare 15 minutes twice daily to each other. If during courtship they see each other 24 /7 they loose interest. That what imo happened in your blue marble plakats. Also maintenance of water quality is vital especially as you feeding more foods.
Nest building sometimes isn't crucial as ive had males that didn't build nest until after breeding and have eggs. Important tip is you should use the styrofoam cup cut lengthwise as an ideal nesting site becuz of the doom effect it helps keep temperature and bubbles from popping. Use a piece of tape and stick the open side onto glass.
Another important tip is the male must be longer body wise than the female as if the female is too eggy and has wide girth as Male maynot be able to spawn embrace her properly so it can have lots of infertile eggs or failed breeding.
As for the breeding tank i would recommend putting more plants cover and hiding spots in back so the female isn't too stressed.
Additionally the container/chimney that you used to hold female can be made of a 2 litre plastic soda bottle with the top and bottom cut off. Make some holes in the sides of it so water can pass through so the water doesn't get stale. By removing the bottom it easier to release female as you've noticed that it drastically disturbs the water surface and nest when you pour out female. Also by having the holes on side the pheromones of both will help with breeding. When releasing females do it in the evening time about 1 hour before lights off. This helps to minimize damages to both and again have hiding spots. Some females can be too aggressive.
Infusoria is great 1st live food for fry but if you have Vinegar eels use this for first few days then live bbs.
Finally the height of water column is also crucial especially for long fin types like halfmoon. But generally for all use a height of 4 to 6 inches high. If the spawn is big and Male not properly conditioned he can get extremely exhausted by constantly picking up fallen eggs or fry from the floor. Results of this is when the male abandoned nest and you see eggs or fry on floor. Bare bottom tanks is best also. No gravel or substrates.
Both type of bettas pairs you have are marble genetics so the fry will have many different color shades and patterns some from cellophane to full marble color or even bicolor and solids tones.
Hopefully this can help you or others to achieve greater success with bettas. Best of luck with the next attempt and fry.

      Hello.
I have an extremely large female that I hope to breed.
The problem is that the 2 male's that I have ( a Midnight Male and a Koi male) Are much smaller than her.
I honestly think that she may be the biggest Betta that I have ever seen.
      Female OR male.
      She's ready.
She is a beautiful Blue that is almost metallic in color with red on the edges of all of her fins.
Her eye's are the same color as her body.
      Metallic blue.
      She's just so big.
      Any advice?

    • @CrowntailHalfmoon
      @CrowntailHalfmoon Před 2 lety +5

      @@jeffalbillar7625
Jeff Sir... you need to get a larger male than her in body size. Make sure he's active and shows alpha dominance... Putting a large female with a small male in most cases can be a death sentence for the male as big females are often more aggressive. Secondly it makes no sense trying to breed a smaller male to larger female because he won't be able to spawn embrace or even fertilizes the eggs as simple becz is short... Their sex organs needs to be very close or touching to fertilize eggs. Ive had smaller male embrace in wrong position from back and not belly area and eggs were infertile.
Another aspect to consider is animals select mates that are strong to ensure their offspring survives even in bettas. I've had large females go head to head with males and fight very viciously when selecting mates...
      Rules to follow
      1. Both sexes must be mature and healthy/conditioning properly. Dont breed defective or shunted fishes.
      2. Males must larger in body size than female counterparts..
      3. Don't mix fin types unless its a project your working on as you will have lots of culls with bad fins.
      4. Before breeding make sure you know and have experience culturing live foods to feed fry.. as most hobbyist often fail because of lack of preparation.

@@CrowntailHalfmoon thank you for the advice.
The female is receptive, but the male is just being brutal.
      And man is she big.
She is bigger than even King male's that I've seen.
I really want to keep her line going.
      She is beautiful.
She is also a shirt finned Betta.
Her fins look just like my 2 male's.
I will take your advice\teaching to heart.
      I appreciate your selfless instruction(s).
I'm not looking to make money.
I just have a strong desire to pass Gene's on that I think are worth it.

I had a male and my friend had a female, so we read that when the male is ready to breed he builds a bubble nest, so my friend brought his female over and we just sorta plopped them together. Wouldn't you know it? there were dozens of little babies swimming around a few days later.

Bettas don't need a bubble nest to start, I have seen bettas breed, and the make the nest while breeding, another tip I learned as a breeder, I stoped using the female in a bowl way, cus the male can still chase her pretty bad, so the way I do is I heavily plant half the tank, and the front part just like you did with the foam so u can see what he does. And when I realease her I do it in the planted side that way she's not getting chase right away when she comes out of the planted area your gonna see a great reaction from both, and if something goes wrong she can hide in the plants and no harm will come to her.

It is recommended from the Indian almond leave but u don’t need to use almond leave but it is recommended for the health of your fish and it carry a lot of infousaria that the betta fry will eat

Actually, when the male wraps himself around the female and then she drops the eggs, she becomes momentarily paralyzed.

Water is too deep. Ideally depth should be ~2 inches deep so the male would not be tired collecting all the eggs that were dropped by the female.

The water level is too deep for betta fish.
