    Most definitely want a 70-200 for my Canon 5DSR, which I just got last month and am getting acclimated with atm. Was wondering about micro jitters with it wide open. Will take my monopod when I use it. Would LOVE to see more of your concert photos. Will look for your Skillshare. I see you photographed Goldie. I got a really crazy Goldie story from back-in-the-day.

      It's such a handy focal length, I think you'll like it! Would also note that the lens is heavy enough to make the camera front heavy - the Sony lens has a tripod mount/thread which works effectively though.
      Thank you! And yes, I've photographed Goldie a couple of times at events -- would love to take his portrait sometime! Would also love yo hear your story 👀

      @@SophiaCarey Way back-in-the-day, I threw events in NYC. One night, club hopping with some magazine friends & Tricky, Someone mentioned Goldie was performing, everyone decided to go.
      We walk in and a minute later, Goldie comes running over, puts both hands around Tricky's throat, lifted him off the ground and said, "We need to talk." He drags Tricky into the fire exit doors, we could hear the commotion then security comes flying past and into the exit doors.
      Basically, he beat Tricky's ass for messing around with his girlfriend (Bjork). True story. Now why Tricky would want to go to Goldie's show, knowing Goldie is so hood & he did what he did (quite publicly), is a mystery. True story.

    Such amazing concert photos!! I recently fell in love with this lens too, having borrowed my husband’s when I was doing a portrait session where I would have to be a bit back from my clients for some shots! It’s now my fave and goes to all sessions!!

      Thank you so much!! Ahh yes, I was speaking to someone else about this lens recently and he mentioned that he loves it for portraits! I’ve not used it for much outside of live music as of yet but I think I’m going to have to give it a go!

      Thank you so much! I still love shooting digitally, especially when it comes to live music, but I agree that I'm more often attracted to the look of film photography

    I've been wanting to get the Sigma 105mm 1.4 Art for a while now for gigs mostly but still unsure. What do you think about the focal length when you're in smaller venues?

    • @SophiaCarey
      @SophiaCarey  Před 2 měsíci

      Is it a prime 105? I haven’t heard of it but sounds interesting for sure!
      I think 105 would be really tight in small venues. Even something like a 70 can be tight if you’re shooting from the pit on a small stage, and I’ve even found, especially shooting DJs, that you need something wider than a 24mm to shoot on some small stages/where there’s more than two DJs in a booth. I think it would depend a lot on the type of acts you photograph and the type of venues you work in! For me, I probably wouldn’t get much use from a 105mm prime personally!

    • @TaylorHylton
      @TaylorHylton Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@SophiaCarey Yeah, it's a prime. I usually shoot in smaller venues where I can move around a bit more. I'd like to use it for festivals a bit too but I think I'm mostly just doing smaller venues. I mainly just use the 24-70mm 2.8 and I do need something on the wider end but I like the compression of tighter lenses. I'm also tall and don't like being in the way too much so I prefer not being too far to the front. I have a 135mm prime but it's too tight for most things and I felt like 85mm might not be that far from 70mm.
      Thanks for your reply!

      @@TaylorHylton that makes sense! It sounds like it might suit you/the way that you shoot more than it would me! You could always try and rent it and give it a go before you make the commitment?

      @@TaylorHylton you could try using it with a mount adapter if you can find it for a different mount?
