Bergkamp did an interview recently and said Wenger told him once that he subbed him off alot because he wasn't as young as he used to be. Tbf Bergkamp was still playing great at 36 and I'm sure that's in part to Wenger not playing him for 90 minutes each week.

One thing that's interesting to note, Bergkamp's substitutions coincided with Henry joining Arsenal
@@imaratspal I would disagree with that. Bergkamp & Henry played together. They were the first choice partnership. Bergkamp was always first choice. Bergkamp & Wright, Bergkamp & Anelka, Bergkamp & Kanu, then Bergkamp & Henry. Even when Henry joined the arsenal front 2 was Bergkamp & either Kanu or Henry. It was rarely Kanu & Henry starting. Unless it was a European away game.

He was rarely substituted before Henry came to Arsenal.
@@imaratspal Bergkamp being substituted had nothing to do with Henry. It goes back to the original comment of Bergkamp getting older and Wenger getting the best out of an aging player by not playing full games. It has nothing to do with Henry. If Henry had never joined Arsenal, Bergkamp would still have been subbed off at that point in his career to prolong his career.

Petty comment because this is a great channel, but I've noticed recently that a lot of these 'retro' clips only seem to date back to about 2015. There were some really good older clips when this channel was first started. Would be great to see a few more 90s/00s that are a lot harder to find online
They seem to be mainly uploading clips that are the best at trolling something that has recently happened, I'm guessing this one is aimed at Arteta dropping Ozil...I guess they just find the best one regardless of what year it is from as long as it's at least a few years old 🤷♂️

It's more likely to do with this than "trolling" Ozil and Arteta. They post a video on a day when Obafemi Martins had switched clubs. Not everything is about "trolling". Its about whatever is relevant in the news or upcoming fixtures

Arsene Wenger, we gave you so much stick at Old Trafford over the years, but I sincerely hope the heart felt standing ovation send off we gave you on your last game at Old Trafford made up for that in some small way, I remember we applauded you when you walked out of the tunnel till you took your place on the bench, then the presentation gift in honour, and again at the start of the second half again walking to the bench and at the end of the game, even though we won the game in the last minute, it was the lasting memory of the tribute we gave you in recognition, that I will never forget. I think even the Arsenal fans at the game appreciated the acknowledgment we gave you that day, glad I was at that game, you were always a "villain" in our eyes, that day you had a hero's send off from us 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@@superflick100 I am not disputing that, many think it's Henry and I am okay with it. Probably the best player not to win Ballon d'Or. I prefer Dennises style more - technically gifted, slower player, who had a sixth sense, and can feed the ball to teammates like one has never seen.
I believe those are the more important players to the strike force, as you can plug in an Henry, Anelka or an Ian Wright around them, who would help elevate their games.
No wonder the majority of the Arsenal players who played with him think he [Bergkamp] is the greatest player they have ever played with. I find it interesting that very few pick Henry, only Dennis himself picks Henry and maybe 2 or 3 other players.
I never understood why they all picked Bergkamp until I started watching and analysing more tape. I came to the conclusion the players would like his style more over the fans who prefer Henry.
