  • Don't take any wooden nickels, this huge marine monster looked different from that in Jurassic World! If you want to know what Mosasaurus actually was like, here it is!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    This is not a dinosaur
I know, it looks like a dinosaur, it scares like a dinosaur, and when you see it, the first thing that comes to your mind is that you’ll be eaten by it.
    Ready to swim!
You may believe that just like the reptiles or dinosaurs, Mosasaurus laid eggs and it was born looking adorable and yet, terrifying.
    A unique jaw
This aquatic mastodon’s jaw is pretty much like that of a snake. Just as you heard it! This jaw could extend enough to swallow entire prey.
It was actually dark in color
Do you think this is clickbait? Well, you’re wrong! This gigantic predator has an extremely polished, dynamic, and mostly dark body.
    How did its reign end?
Mosasaurus was at its finest hour from about 82 to 66 million years ago and it was such a strong species that a really catastrophic thing would have to happen for the animal to become extinguished...
Was it an ancestor of snakes or lizards?
This point is as interesting as it is controversial, and I’d already told you something about it in advance. During the nineteenth century...
It is not as large as it is in Jurassic World
The cinema has made a lot of incredible movies and the special effects can bring to life impossible things.
    A great breath of air
It had great marine power and size, no two ways about it. But what is surprising is that Mosasaurus was a constant swimmer that dived to prey upon and also breathed air like you.
    It swam in all waters
As an apex predator, it was capable of plowing through all seas on the planet. The first fossils of this temerarious “almost-dinosaur” were found in the Meuse and the animal was named after the river that goes through France...
    It didn’t waste food!
Mosasaurus ruled the seas during the Cretaceous period and its massive teeth tore off pieces of meat from a wide variety of prey. Fortunately

If you want to know what one looks like, ask my dad. He and another soldier watched one swim around in a slow moving swampy river in the Central Highlands of Vietnam for the better part of an afternoon in 1969. He used to draw it at holiday parties for the kids. Head about 7 feet long. Body including tail close to 40. Barrel shaped body and flippers. He said it was pretty placid and only growled and rushed forward 4 or 5 feet when the other soldier threw some rocks at it. My dad was on the M60 machine gun, so they weren’t in danger. He said he would have taken it apart if it attacked. He said it was munching on reeds or whatever was living in them close to the shore. When it disappeared they waited to hear the screams from villagers down the river, but nothing happened.

You are right but in the Jurassic Park lore supposedly they were trying to go for more monster than an actual dinosaur, well this is from what I understood reading the novel and seeing the movies. Good video though...
