- In this video, I discuss how to remove the transfer case and some tips and tricks. I had to do in order to make that happen. If you need me, leave me a message and let me know.
Hey brother I literally am going through exactly what you just covered in this video we have a 2016 pathfinder we just took it in for an oil change and we were told that we had a leak from our transmission took it to a transmission shop they said it’s a transfer case they obviously just want us to get a new one the job calls for about $4500 but that’s not even mentioning like you said that axle so if you have any tips tricks or if I should just did the car all together please let me know cause this video definitely just open my eyes a lot more
Feel free to give me a call 605-858-4129
Doing this job now, thanks for the tips
Good luck man!
I am replacing my cv axle on 2014 pathfinder, the shaft bearing bracket you mention with 4 bolts, apparently its common for that bearing to seize in that bracket, is it possible to get to those 4 bolts just having jack stands? Thank you
I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Did you get it?
Hey bro, I’m working on my 2014 Nissan pathfinder CV axle passenger is there anyway I can get a part number for the outer seal that goes into the transfer case
Call the Nissan dealership. They’ll ask for the last 8 of the vehicle vin number. That’s the only place you’ll get these harder to get seals bud.
Hi Dave, please, I need the name or part number for the little "seal" you show at 1:27. I have been trying to get it at the dealership but they dont know what I am talking about. It doesnt show up as a part of the transfer case
I believe it’s called the output shaft inner and putter seals.
Great video and great info. mine is not leaking at those areas yet. but I do see a leak in the back Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal ? where the Yoke connects ? did you happen to replace that seal as well ?
Yes sir! I replaced all the seals. I was afraid it would leak otherwise. Thank you for the compliment.
@@mechanicdave4899 for the rear output shaft seal do you think I can just replace it without taking out the transfer case ? by removing the drive shaft and popping open the back and yank out the seal and replace ?
@@grilledchickenwrap you definitely can replace it without pulling it out on that one
HEY, how did u get the two screws on the drivers side of the transfer case?
I think I used a super long extension and swivel ha ha it was a pita!!! Or maybe I did it with a hand wrench if I recall
can you replace the drive shafts bearing and seal with taking the transfer case out??
that’s the driveshaft to the rear i’m talking about by the way
Dave - the comments are off on your BMW 328D transfer case video so I can't say anything there but I am wondering if your transfer case has given you any issues after adding the Loctite to the splines? I am thinking of getting one and didn't know if that solution is 100% or not. Sorry for the random post on the wrong vid but I didn't know of another way to contact you.
It’s all good. It helped and I have not had any issues. I do change the fluid annually and I use GL-5 diff fluid 85-140 lol little thick, but better than the water they call for.
@@mechanicdave4899 Thank you! That is great. How many miles have you racked up since the fix?
@@dtchild81 about 30,000
in order to put all the seals that go on the passenger side of transfercase did you have to open up the transfer case?
I think I had to open it for something. I can’t completely remember.
Did you drop the sub
frame?
So sorry I didn’t see this. No sun frame stayed in.
How long did it take
It books for 8 hours. The hardest part is removing the exhaust system. Use heat/map gas and take your time.
@@mechanicdave4899 jesus 8 hours this is a big A$$ job lol
