This is my 2002 Ford Ranger combined with a 2003 Fx4 Level 2 with a 5 Speed with a manual Transfer case.

I ended up bed mounting it…. I really tried to get it underneath but just couldn’t. I’ll get a video out soon on it.

Really sweet truck! I have a 2000 Ranger mostly stock 3.0l with 300k on the clicker. I agree, manual all the way is the way to go! Less maintenance and less to go wrong
Agree… I couldn’t get rid of that auto quick enough!! I love shifting my own gears and using the engine to slow down!!
I'm in the process of doing kinda the same things with my 2001 ranger , love that truck .

You did such a good job on this. I have a 96 XL with manual everything and love it too. I just finished building out a truck cap camper set up up out of pallet wood to have my own break room at work. I have a growing list of things I need to do my Ranger I dream of getting work done like you have. But first I do need to take care of some rust (Maine truck) my frame is good and always undercoated but my bed has seen better days. Just little things, new break light switch and for some reason when I turn the headlights on my 4wd indicator light switches off but I'm still in 4wd. I've been following along on both your channels. I utilized a lot of good info building my Isuzu camper watching your trailer builds Looking forward on whats to come!
Right on that sounds like a great project! I really hate the rust it’s a constant battle! It’s tough when you got lots of projects on the go…. Sounds like you’re on the right track. Just one step at a time. 👍

I've been following your videos on your ranger. I'd love to do a similar build on my 01 sport trac, which is very similar to the ranger. In particular the supercharger and manual trans/transfer case.
Highly recommend it. I know it’s a lot of cash… but if you just think about all the new car payments you save it’s not that bad. And you build it just the way you want! 👍
I would love to see a video about your cats and muffler replacement that you mentioned in another video, i know you also have new headers yet to be installed

It’s coming up but probably not till the Fall. I need to sandblast and coat the headers first.
Awesome job! I throughly enjoy watching your videos. The cb radio is nice to have im working on installing one on my ranger. I have a 99 ranger with manual lockout hubs and manual transfer case swap, and i have been considering the front lunchbox locker. What do you think of it? How does it drive on the road if theres snow/ice on the road? Ive heard they can have issues on slick roads but i was wondering what your opinion about it is.Thanks!
Right on that sounds like a nice set up you have there, very similar to mine. That was definitely one of my concerns also and your right You definitely notice it there when the pavement is slick it has a tendency to cause the front end to break free and slide. What I do is I try to cruise through the corners if on the highway in 4x4 if in deep snow on a logging road I try to power through the corners…. Like feather off the throttle get your tires pointed where you want to go and then give it power it locks up and pulls you right through. It takes some getting used to but I love it and would not go back!
The coilover conversion is worth it if you find the torsion bars ride to stiff for you, have them cranked all the way up for maximum lift, or are having clearance issues off road due to the low hanging torsion bars. Im running them for all the reasons mentioned above, i use my truck frequently and wheel it hard. The coilovers are a much better ride quality but they are still a bit stiff. I am running a winch bumper and so i have 850 lb springs and they are cranked up some so that doesnt help. For yours 750lb would more than likely be perfect

I'm in the process of putting a navigator/ expedition/ excursion overhead console into my ranger for a way to mount and hide my CB radio. I have a reg cab 98 so I have to do a good amount of trimming but you have n ext cab so might not be harder than the groups and forums think it is.
Hmmm never heard of that. I will check it out. It would be sweet to have it all buttoned up and factory looking.
Which years are the best to check?
Excursions are 99-06 I think the expeditions are like 98-02 it's the biggest overhead console I think Ford offers in these era's.

One similar to that. I will be using a uniden cmx760 I think I can moun the brain behind where the heater controls are and I can have the Mic in the large compartment. And the make a heater control delete panel if I find it I'll us it for switch mounts.
Right on that sounds awesome I’ll check out that link… and see what I can find in the junk yard….. I might just wire it in and install temporary then when I find a nice console install it. Thanks for the info 👍
I did the same thing to the old 4x4 switch on the dash, in cut it out and put in an extra usb power port. What lift did you use or was previously used in the front?
Right on… it’s nice having some up to date plugs to charge from!

Love your truck. Have been following along. Did you sand/retreat your frame? If not, how/where did you find such a clean specimen? And at such a low price?
Fortunately the original owner garage kept the truck, it was regularly under oiled. Really babied. But then they guy I bought it off ran it into the ground. When I got it it was not road worthy and he had smashed in the fibreglass box. I had to replace all the brakes, complete front end, interior was trashed… it was rough. But the one thing I didn’t want to deal with was holes in the body from rust.
To answer your question yes I had to sand down the frame and repainted it…. I could probably do a better job though… maybe in the future?
been thinking of doing a coil spring swap myself on my ranger. Put a 3 inch torsion key lift on mine and its quite rough now so the coil springs would be a really great way to go. Out of curiosity where did you buy the brackets from? I've looked online for kits and havent found anything

beautiful ranger ❤ long time subscriber i have been building my ranger still trying to find parts for mine. i would suggest adding a snorkel. It's a great way to introduce lots of colder more denser air . i did to mine and it was basically stock it ran alot better. but not for the faint of heart got to cut a Precise hole lol

all the aftermarket ones i found where expensive and all of the kit i seen was use a flexable coragated pipe on the back side of the fender ,i didn't like that I wanted it to be stronger so i made one out plumbing pipe lol i hid all the elbows behind the fender and attached it to my air box that i sealed up the factory hole with the new cutout . Then bend a longer piece of abs pipe for hour with a heat gun and rag soaked water. so i would get one piece of pipe coming out of the fender to an aftermarket snorkel head cover. i had to make a small sleeve for the to connect the pipe to the 3 inch head Because i used 2 inch pipe so it would Bent. easier and doesn't look bad when bent. 3 inch pipe looked bad when i bent it, lol
Ok I’ll check into it… After we talked I looked into it but I did notice the kits were super expensive. I’ll see if I can find a cheaper alternative.
I’m not sure I have the patience to bend the pipe and make it look good. Did you block off the factory inlet or just add 2” more?
Yeah I cut out a two and a half inch hole from my airbox in And I use that piece of that to block the other Is factory hole. (I I remeasured the diameter of the abs pipe i used 2.5)
Forgot to mention I also water tested it before install.
Thanks This is a wonderful Walk Around Video ! we really like our Ranger too a 2008 Sport with the manual transmission. We put an Aluminum flat deck with boxes on it for our Pop up truck Camper. Will be following your install on the CB Radio We are Armature Radio operators as well. Quick Question ? I am thinking you have your spare tire in the Canopy Correct? Hope you have power and are safe after that Major Ice and Wind Storm.

You got it …. right now the spare tire is in the canopy but I need to figure out a better set up. Since they are similar tires to my trailer I was thinking I’d mount it on the back of my trailer…. But I’m still thinking about it.

I just received my 5.5 pully for moddbox last week
Are you installing a tune or will you try it stock?…. I really fed could get away with a stock tune and just watch my A/M with a methanol injection just in case.
It’s hard to know…… I need to figure out my injector PW under load and then go from there. Appreciate any feedback you can provide!
@@RangerShop1 i have bigger injectors (36lbs) going to try the stock mass air if i dont like it i have a 2012 mustang gt mass air. the mustang runs 36 lbs injectors stock so calibration is close. that being said i am aware of some one running the 5.5 pully with 32lbs injectors stock mass air and no tune. im presently chasing lean codes that came out of nowhere

Found a vacuum leak at the plastic pucks the injectors set in put 100 miles on it with the new injectors runs very well stock mass air

I need a way to measure my injector duty cycle under load then I can see if I want to make the jump to bigger injectors.

I miss my old ranger. They really are good trucks. I have been wanting to get an auxiliary fuel tank for my Frontier, because I only get 8-9 mpg while towing and I can't get far very far on my 20 gallon tank. What kind of fuel economy are you getting while towing?
That’s 15 miles per gallon I’m getting while towing. I checked it probably 20 times on our last trip out west. I really couldn’t believe it was doing so well even through the mountains in Colorado. With out the trailer I’m actually getting close to 20. Not bad for being shaped like a brick! 😄
I bought the exact same head light but they have no adjustment. Did you have the same issue? Mine are pointing to the floor lol
Mine had an adjustment but each time I had to remove the headlights to adjust then reinstalled them. I have a mark on my garage wall for proper headlight height and I managed to hit it but they took me 5x removing the lights each time. That parts definitely a Stupid design!!
Got the 5 pound pulley yet??? Really want to know if I want this supercharger kit
Got the pulley, and headers to open up the exhaust a bit. Now I need to do some fully loaded driving while monitoring my injector duty cycle to see if I need larger injectors and a tune. Also check my Intake Air Temperatures. I don’t think I’ll be doing the swap from the 3.5 to the 5 till the fall just to be safe.
If your not towing or doing lots of hill climbing I think it would fine…. Definitely recommend an A/F gauge to be safe

The rims are just sock painted flat black.

Delete the brake booster and get manual brakes. Throw out the power steering while you're at it, too heavy. Would look better with crank windows
A 2.7L eco boost engine would be beautiful In this build.
Maybe a 3.5 ecoboost but then you’d have to relocate the turbos. But Not a huge deal if you’re willing to do it honestly
Yeah I think that would be pretty cool. But probably beyond my skill level.
Personally I know not many like them but I like the 4.0 SOHC it revs like crazy it’s a good combo with the supercharger.
Was the Torsen LSD no good?
Not all 31 spline 8.8 rearends had the torsen lsd and the factory clutch type lsds wear out and kinda suck

I have one on my 02 FX4 5 sp. They were standard equipment on the 02 and 03 model. Not rebuildable and very hard to find. I was thinking the donor truck unit must have been fubar....Great build though.
Yeah unfortunately not… the previous owner got water into the diff and didn’t flush it out. I would have loved to have it but it wasn’t usable by the time I got it… the diff was full of metal…. I originally threw a explorer carrier into it but then I found the the Yukon carrier on Amazon clearance so rebuilt the read diff with that. It works great I’ve never had just one tire spinning in the mud and rocks.
