The story goes is that the drummer on the Muppet Show "Animal" was based on Keith Moon
Fun fact! I never knew.
Keith Moon, the most entertaining, exciting drummer ever.
Entwhistle is so deadpan while Moon is swinging from the rafters on his drums.
Keith Moon, the outstanding drummer, was so full of energy; they had to use duct tape to prevent his headphones from falling off! RIP Keith.
Thank you for sharing that little duct tape comment! Priceless...=)
@@jessicaleblanc-nh1yl "The most terrifying thing that ever happened to me was the day Keith Moon decided he liked me".......Joe Walsh
@@goldenstatemunicipal7735Since weâre sharing about Kieth Moon, how about the Alice Cooper quote where says, and Iâm paraphrasing: âHalf the shit youâve heard about me is true, everything youâve heard about Kieth Moon is true and youâve only heard half of it!â đ€Ł
Great friend of Oliver Reed. Showed up at Ollies house once , in a helicopter , with 2 swedish models in tow.... Imagine going to a party with those wild guys..?
True story!đ
Moon was the only drummer who could play the drums using facial expressions alone
Keith Moon was something else. That energy, the expressions, the cans taped to his head.
Not sure if it was more fun being in a band with Keith Moon or simply being Keith Moon
â@@jimmoore8951 they had to tape the cans to his head...he was that energetic. You couldn't hold him still with a straight jacket.
He lived life his way. RIP
Keith was part stand up comedian and part town drunk, usually an entertaining character, unless you had to work with him or were married to him....
R.I.P John entwistle and Keith moon đ gone but not forgotten đđŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó żđŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż
Keith Moon - the craziest Drummer of the music era...
WHAT A BAND!!! One of the greatest British rock band of all time. Individually all amazing and Rogers voice is something else. â€
This is real rock music by a real rock band. It doesn't get any better than this. The Who are more than a rock n roll band.
It's special to watch the first time 'Moon the Loon', still until today he's in the group of the top drummers in rock, not to forget that the other 3 also among the best.
Just about every trope about an insane Rock Star started with Keith Moon and his antics. He was the best
when you see Pete Townsend play a guitar on film, he is most often than not purposely flipping the bird becasue he knew the censors leave it because they think he's playing a note!!
"I remember throwin' punches around and preachin' from my chair"!!
Fun trivia... Drummer Keith Moon was the inspiration for the Muppet character "Animal" (the drummer).
As he should have been đđđŒ!!!
My first favorite British rock band!!!
Keith Moon, John Entwistle, R.I.P. đđŒđȘđœđđŒ!!!
Keith Moon.. got his facial impression by copying his childhood hero...Robert Newton.
â@@colincharlton9339Didn't know that, but I often noticed the resemblance.đ
Lol. 'moon the loon'!!!!
Yeah I can't hear this song anymore without thinking of CSI...it rocks!!
Townshend when asked about Moons drumming said " we just let Keith do a solo and we write a song around it."
RIP Keith Moon & John Entwistle!! Two of the best ever at what they did!
The drummer Keith Moon had some severe mental problems in real life, yet is still one of Rock's greatest drummers. The Who was never the same after he died.
The Drummer Keith Moon is an enigma... The way he played the kit is very unique, he is probable ADHD as per school reports. The Who are orchestral rock music.... Great video, thank you
A true classic.. and they have more..You gotta Do "Wont get fooled again".. and "Baba O`Riley" !!
This was the theme of CSI. They aired it for years- complete with the "Who the fuck are you?!" line, lol. Always made me laugh to hear that on prime time TV.
Keith was so unpredictable as a drummer, that was part of his magic. Loads of expression and fuck overthinking it. Every take would be different but exciting.
ROCK GOLD! The WHO drove R/R in the 70's.
How can Keith Moon not bring a smile to your face? RIP Keith, and John.
It's was the opening of the original CSI TV show which made me love both the show & the tune that much more đđ
Masked singer too
@@nathanielcampbell3488 did not know that, I do not watch that show
All the CSI shows used Who tracks as the opening music.
@@johnclibbens6803 they sure did John C đ
Csi Las Vegas
The gaffer tape holding Keiths headphones on are what makes this rock n roll art. God I miss actual rock stars.
Keith Moon the crazy drummer, a legend of wild drummers
As Americans you must have heard this hundreds of times on CSI. The show producer used three! Who songs in his CSI shows. A man of taste. This was from the album of the same name and used synths extensively to widen their already massive sounds.
The older I get the more I love the Who!
It is a possibly true legend/myth that Animal from the muppets is based on Keith.
Greatest drummer of all time one and only Keith moon. Legendary band British national treasures.
Keith was so funny and nice. Although chaotic in everything. Died too young, but his trail in our world left us with some magic.
He had a dark, mean side though too. It was probably the booze that made him beligerant. The man treated his body like a science experiment.
He was one of the most legendary drummers but also one of the most legendary party animals in rock history. He was infamous for trashing hotel rooms and passing out on stage during their concerts
Ironically, he died from a drug that was supposed to help him get clean.
The who are one of the top top rock bands of all time.
All of the CSI shows have a 'Who' opening. CSI:NY is opened with "Baba O'Reilly" and CSI:Miami was "Won't Get Fooled Again". One of their best songs is "Love, Reign O'er Me"
And CSI:Cyber had "I Can See For Miles" đ
@@racing2cat That's past the time I cut off the cable in my house. Been happy without it.
This song is often played on The Masked Singer as well.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HHHHH
Except it was the WHO from decades ago, not the other way around as TNT initially suggests
Keith still making people smile, forty-five years after his death.
All four of the guys looked as though they were enjoying themselves in the studio - love the video of Who Are You just for that reason alone!
TV Show: Original CSI (Las Vegas) George Eads, William Gibson. Jorja Fox, etc.
The song was recorded in 1978. It was Kieth Moon's last album with The Who before he died.
I donât remember the TV show but I know Iâve heard it in several movies.
Thereâs an uncensored version of this also. He says âWho the ef are you?â lol
He sure does say that and they don't cover it up..Oh, the 70s and the 80s..đ
This has been one of my favorite songs since 1978. I still have the original album.
Loved this band every since the sixties. Next do WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN from 1971.
I don't know if you realize how great it is seeing folks fall in love with a piece of music that an earlier generation fell in love with the same way. So much talent that won't be forgotten because of folks like you enjoying it all over again. Way to hand it down to the youth of today and maybe triggering talent to make the same style of music for younger generations.
Greatest rock drummer, 2 of the best rock guitarists, and one of the best frontmen = THE WHO.
As well as Who Are You being used for the original CSI, tracks from the band are used for other incarnations of the show. Won't Get Fooled Again is used for CSI: Miami, Baba O'Riley starts CSI: NY and I Can See For Miles is used on CSI: Cyber.
âșđ
Keith Moon was such a great drummer.
Keith Moon, the drummer for The Who, was one crazy SOB, very wild.
Keith âThe Loonâ Moon drums , Roger Daltrey vocals, Peter Towhshend guitar & John âthe Oxâ Entwistle on bass and probably the best contemporary bassist in in music., he was the eye of the storm . Keith Moon was a one of a kind talent, his drumming style was powerful and crazy , he constantly did fill through out a song Peter is a very talented overall musician & song composer and Rogers vocals speak for themselves Youâll get a list of song to explore. Great rabbit hole
I agree. John âThunder fingersâ Entwhistle is one of my favorite bass players. And you have to love Moon.
I agree Jeremy, along with Cliff Burton , Victor Wooten , Tal Wilkenfeld , Angeline Saris (my personal favorite). Pino Palladino , Les Claypool and a bunch Iâm not thinking of. I play the drums and itâs all about being in the pocket and the groove with the bass As far as Moon he was just crazy. Lol.
All the CSI shows use Who songs. Who are you, won't get fooled again, baba o Reilly
Yes Bill, saw them in Mpls. in '71, John played "lead" bass on many songs... extreme musician...regards,
All wrong, John âthe Oxâ Entwistle was a bass guitar player. Those are his own words.
Wow đł this was just fantastic đ€©. They were just amazing †. That was the best video I ever seen â€. Unbelievable talent. WOW beautiful stuff â€ïž
Fact for a 10 year period between 1979 -1989 the Who were the best live rock band in the world
Huh? Post Keith Moon? I saw them both with and without Keith, their is no comparison, the original band was a rock legend, they were never the same without Moon and certainly Entwhistle when he passed.
@@vicprovost2561 yeah Iâve seen them twice also but if you look at my time line you will notice the years 79-89 if you refresh your memory Kenny Jones was the who drummer in those years and rock music was in a bad place hairspray and makeup etc
Keith Moon was insane and insanely good drummer. One of the greats
One of the best and most innovative bands in the Rock Genre.
You MUST react to The Who, Won't Get Fooled Again, Live at Shepperton Studios 1978!
One of the all time iconic rock performances. Just amazing.
Keith Moon kicked ass on a drum kit. My favorite video of them. They all showcase their talents and they're having fun. Keith and John are both still still alive. R.I.P. to both.
John Bonham was a beast on Drums RIP
This is exactly why Keith is one of my all time favorite Drummers!!!
Keith the absolute best drummer of all time! RIP!
In their heyday The Who was NOT a band. They were an assault crew with a soundtrack. They were also the most dynamic concert I've ever seen live, and I've seen a LOT!)) Thanks for the reaction! "Love, Reign O'er Me" is among their very best - an intense and powerful love ballad.
So well put! Thanks.
The entire Quadrophenia album is therapy -- an experience. Sad. Inspirational. Messed up. All of it. The movie is good too -- giving you a bit of history of the Mods vs Rockers in the U.K.
Assault crew !!!! Friggin right on brother ! I saw someone say they were 4 leads playing as 1. Love Live Rock , Long Live The Who !
Too right
amen!
It had the absolute privilege of seeing The Who in concert, July 21st, 1989, Glen Falls, New York.
One of the best concert I've ever seen.
I saw them in Oakland,CA in 1989 on that same tour!
This was the last year with Keith, because he died a few months later. So if you're going to check out the Who, they were at their best earlier than this. Some great live stuff is available, particularly from around 1969-1971 - Tanglewood and Isle of Wight. Also the Rolling Stone Rock and roll circus clip of "A quick one", and the 1978 Shepparton studios performances.
A quick one is my favourite but Won't get fooled again at Shepperton is classic.
Keith Moon! Moon The Loon! The MOST beloved drummer in rock! No drummer dislikes Moonie!
Keith Moon is probably the best drummer to ever pickup 2 sticks.
Him or ginger baker
I lived a couple of minutes walk away from where they recorded a part of this song, it was in Battersea, London. it was recorded in about three different studios.
You could often see them walking about, and at one time they joined a demonstration just outside the studio, where local people were trying to get a pedestrian crossing put in place, after a bad accident, involving a child.
As others have mentioned, two other songs by The Who were used for CSI series: "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Riley". These also happen to be two of their best and best-known songs, but another song that you absolutely MUST listen to is "Love Reign O'er Me".
These guys are in the top 10 loudest groups!Great song!,Great Band!
The Who once held the World Record for Loudest Performance, way back in the 60's
1976' the Valley in London. Charlton Athletic's football ground, 126db.
@The Bad Lieutenant I'll ask my brother in law. He was there.
I recall someone saying they pumped out 76,000 Watts per channel
I was there too. Great concert and insanely loud considering it was open air
Neil Peart of Rush was a massive fan of the Who and Keith Moon! RIP Keith and Neil.
Tasha- the show was CSI CSI Miami theme song was We wonât get fooled again and CSI-NY theme was Baba O Riley
All the CSI spin-offs used songs from The Who for theme songs.
Sorry C Tammie run I just noticed that you had already informed them where they probably heard the song from my bad
I thought this was from the original "CSI". The one in Las Vegas.
@Scott N. the original CSI was based in Las Vegas but it wasn't in the title like the one that's been on for the last 2 seasons is
The Who were ranked with the Greatest Rock bands of the 60's/70's
This song came out the year I got married. (I was 24) I remember listening to it, very loud, in our new apartment, on our new stereo, and it was so exciting. I still love it!
Would love to have heard the beginning of "New Song" on your new stereo, and seen your reaction the first time.
Keith Moon was such a character. They called him Moon the Loon. He could have been a comic actor had he not been one of rock's greatest drummers. Sadly, he passed away not long after this was filmed.
For close to 35 years this song was played on our city's radio stations (those were a thing, kids) and never did anyone complain about the 2 F bombs dropped during the song.
But thank God the Morality Police stepped in.......and in the nick of time, too it seems.
Weirdly the f-bombs were on the SINGLE but if you bought the album there weren't any.
@@OroborusFMA That IS weird. Usually it's the other way around.
The Who simply one of the best
Four fantastic musicians. Roger Daltrey's great vocals perfectly fit Pete Townshend's songs and his guitar and keyboard work. John "The Ox" Entwistle, one of the greatest bass players ever, and Keith Moon, the wild man on the drums. Such a great band. Not sure what Who you've heard, but they're a deep well, from the early straight-ahead pop-rock like "I Can See For MIles" and "Substitute" to opuses like "Baba O"Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again".
The greatest rock and roll band.
Substitute is a great song. The Who really expressed teenage male angst.
"Pure and Easy", "Long Live Rock", The entire "Who's Next" Album. In the movie "Tommy", Tina Turner is the Acid Queen.
"Who Are You" is the title track on the Who's 1978 album, Who Are You, the last album released by the group before Keith Moon's death in September 1978
Moony was a real character. Great song on all levels.
Good Reaction and, as always, with London Bands, they had a great sense of hUmour
I honestly can't think of a better performance clip than that one. Even with the missing third verse, it's utterly compelling.
The third verse, from the album, changes the sentiment of the song massively - and whilst I understand the requirement for a âsingle versionâ, the song is so much poorer without that verse.
See "Won't Get Fooled Again" (Shepperton Studios / 1978) where Pete does a running jump with his guitar and lands on his knees, Rodger whirls his microphone, Keith plays crazy drums, and John E. is loud as f*ck.
of course I knew the song, but never seen it performed. So fun to watch. Thanks for the reaction.
I've never seen this video - so funny - one of the all time classic rock songs - Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
The Who - Grandfathers of hard rock. You should check out some of their early live performances. Most anything from their Live at Leeds album - one of the greatest live albums ever, or if you like it even heavier, check out their Woodstock performance. NO band played with more power and force at that time.
FATHERS Of Rock, GRANDFATHERS of Hard Rock, GODFATHER of Punk, they have a few titles!
A Classic, no doubt.
Try 'Eminence front' (The Who)
I love it!
â€ïžđšđ±đ
In my opinion, THE WHO are the greatest rock band of all time...
I was going to post those words. You beat me to it!
Best live band I have seen.
I think "WonÂŽt get fooled again" was another song that was used for CSI. Love your reactions!!!
Can't believe you have not heard this, was a huge hit and another tune absorbed into pop culture. She is quite correct. This is a great tune but to hear them in their most intense, try them from Live at Leeds, do My Generation, They are at their very best, building into furious jams and Pete Townsend has some of the best leads in Rock History in that jam. They are just possessed and playing like their lives were on the line. Check it out and Rock On! Enjoy. đ”đžđ€đčđ¶
Peter is much less animated on the guitar here than he would be in a live concert. He was well-known for his acrobatic jumping and "windmill" action in stroking the chords very violently, so violently he often broke guitar strings and even cut his hand on occasion. Keith's a friggin' wild man drummer, and Peter once called him "a master of mayhem" for the way he'd trash out hotel rooms during their concert tours.
It's from one of the CSI shows. All the the CSI shows used a The Who song as their theme songs. John Entwistle once said he was a babysitter of 3 unruly tottlers
Ahhh⊠one of the classics. One of the greatest rock bands of all time. Itâs never NOT a fun time listening to The Who.
Moonie was a force of natureâŠdied youngâŠcrazier than he appeared in this videoâŠan absolute drum godâŠ
People assume televisions are bolted down in motel rooms to safeguard against theft...wrong. That originated as a safeguard against TVs being chucked out windows, Moon style. The man was a beast. The true archetype of Rock n Roll.đ„đ©·
Keith Moon was a crazy guy he would blow up toilets in the hotel they would stay at and destroy the rooms just for fun. He had a nick name called Moon the Loon. he was a party animal that loved to cause trouble just for fun.
45 years đ Written by Pete Townsend. He permitted CBS to place this into CSI. This brought a new audience. đ
RIP Keith, John.

Keith Moon was the wild man of rock he threw tvs out of hotel windows and drove a Rolls Royce into a swimming pool. The great days of rock!
Great reaction. Rumour has it that the muppets drummer "animal" was based on Keith Moon.
Hard to believe that was 45 years ago. When I was a kid, 45 year old songs were being played with a megaphone and nobody I knew listened to them or could relate.
Cool video, don't think I have seen this version... They are always fun live....
Keith Moon did not play the drums,.....he attacked them. His genius was his ability to do a fill that blends in perfectly with the music.
They sound great live..this is live I think..just a hard hitting song
It is NOT from a TV show. It was USED by a TV show.
The difference is perhaps subtle, but distinct.
