No. Because what was going on in Fifty Shades is consensual.
Well...let's be honest, if you had a friend in the same situation as the one in Fifty Shades you would absolutely be telling her she had Stockholm Syndrome
No love I wouldn't. Like I said the relationship that is happening in the 50 trilogy, just like a BDSM relationship in real life ... is consensual. Anastasia (50 Shades) is not being held against her will and isn't being abused, she can leave anytime she wants to. The girl in this movie can not, she the one who would be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome because she is the only one being held as a captive.
So you'd not be at all worried if your friend came to you and said 'remember that guy I interviewed last week well two days later he turned up at my work place and then last night he dragged my unconscious self back to his hotel room, undressed me and slept next to - none of which I remember'. You're absolutely right that BDSM relationships can be healthy and consensual, but 50 shades is not a good example of that.
He did stalk her, no way of getting around that point. He did, but he didn't drug her. She was drunk and called him, when he took her out of the bar he took her to a hotel. And while he did undress her, she wasn't raped. And the reason she doesn't remember anything is because she passed out.
Touché, 50 Shades is not the best example especially since this was her 1st sexual experience so she didn't quite understand all of the stipulations and risks involved with this type of relationship but in compassion to what's happen in THIS movie .... I still disagree that we can call it 'If Fifty Shades of Grey Happened in Real Life' because what's happening with this girl is far, far worse.

Stockholm syndrome is apparently more represented by the likes of _Beauty and the Beast_ (especially the 1991 Disney animation), but analogically Stockholm syndrome is kinda like
- Belle gets imprisoned by Beast (and I don't mean voluntarily like in the 2017 version)
- Beast threatens Belle at clawpoint if she doesn't do what he wants
- at some point before giving a f**k about the Beast's backstory, Belle believes she's going to die
but analogically what happens in _Berlin Syndrome_ is
- a traveling Belle meets a hot local guy who shows her around town
- Belle meets up with guy a few times and falls in love with him, wishing she could stay
- guy, who seemingly wants to fulfill Belle's wish, takes her to his house and locks her in
- and _then_ Belle finds out he's the Beast
it's like Max Riemelt here is embodying *yandere* (Japanese) where you're so nice and sweet to most people but later on you turn out to be an absolute psychopath; whereas the Disney Beast is kind of the opposite aka *tsundere* where you're unapproachable and cold-hearted at first but then later on in the story you get to warm up more especially to the one in love with you. So there's a difference.
Yandere boyfriends are the absolute worst. Also, the story _is_ set in Berlin where Max Riemelt grew up, so it kinda fits. :)

It started out sloooowww but then gained in suspense. There were still some slow parts but, overall, worth the watch for those who like suspense. Loved the ending. What a _perfect_ twist!

Cate Shortland is my favorite director right now! I liked her movie, Somersault and I've followed her career since. She has a special talent. I like certain themes, she seems to focus on hands and certain physical movements that really project the emotional feeling of the scene. And water.
Then she made an awful generic marvel movie. So disappointing.
