  • Hi, everyone! In this video, we load up on black rockfish along with some cod. It was nice weather with a nice mellow swell rolling in. We captured some underwater footage of the rockfish swimming around under the boat.

Supposedly I’m from fisherperson stock but I get seasick watching boats in the harbour.
I bit the bullet once and went on a charter to fish wrecks off Cornwall from my local harbour. We stopped for bait….good, we stopped at the first wreck and some fool lit up a cigar. After much puking I fell asleep in the bottom of the boat….to be awakened a couple hours later by being knock, about a bit. Fool had quit his cigars and we were running for our lives. Luckily someone had filled the harbour with water else we would have ended up on the beach.

it amazes me that although the sea looks calm, there are rolls of waves the can come along and really rock a boat. Foes to show how these fishrmen have an innate skill to stay balanced an upright when many of us Land Barons would be tossed around like rag dolls with wet noodles.

You guys should have some soft comfort music coming out that back deck speaker. I did on my troller and sure helped the long day moods!
Have you guys ever run a test of colors used on gear? While I know school fish aren't very picky, I would guess a solid peanut butter color hootchie string would catch quicker than the multicolor you use. Just a thought as it used to be so for me when I got into black rockfish.👍

You can retain them, but you must own Halibut IFQ and the season for halibut must be open. Additionally you have to purchase an annual permit for harvesting halibut with jig gear.
