Well, Rachel Zegler playing Snow White was presented with thé most in-your-face campaign Disney has ever done. From the first rumours Disney made it very clear that Zegler was implicitly chosen to "diversify" yet another iconic classical white person and f*** you if you disagree.
So, this is yet another artificially created problem that has been "solved" in a way that rubs almost everyone the wrong way. But that's what the LGBT-whatever activists are all about: they have solutions in search of problems and oh boy, do they search for those "problems".

Let's be fair: She can sing. The jury is still out as far as her acting ability. The problem is her personality. People have been saying for quite a while that Rachel Zegler is more unlikable than Brie Larson. Recent reports haven't helped. Sources claim that Zegler was a total diva on set during the reshoots. Very difficult to work with, and behaving like a spoiled brat when she didn't get her way. Now she's taking thinly veiled shots at Gal Gadot. No wonder she has a reputation as box office poison. How many people are not going to see the film because Rachel Zegler is in it? A LOT.

But to me she's nails on a chalkboard. So much so that I had no clue what was on but I ran to stop the screeching. Then I lmao when I realized it Zeigler in West Side Story adaptation. I couldn't believe she ever got hired again. It gets better though because not long after I made a run to stop the screeching the 1st time it happened a 2nd time... and it was her adaptation of the Hunger Games and again it was her singing. I could barely watch the snow white trailer. Someone with a speaking voice like hers doesn't make for a good singing voice. That's why she has no real range.
Sorry I studied music history so people like her just can't impress me. No range, slightly nasal, no real training or she could do a little better than she does. She got the equivalent of a participation trophy compared to the musical genius and talent of the past. She's connected that's all she's got going for her. That and a pathetic unimaginative music industry right now.
Sorry I grew up with Bob Marley, Prince, Areosmith, Pat Benatar, Pink Floyd, etc, etc, etc. It's very hard for me to get used to such a lazy musical generation. I may sound like a music snob but I know my taste is just my opinion and that doesn't mean jack to the next person. Lol

Actually, True Loves Kiss only wakes her in the Disney animated movie. In the original text, the Prince begs the dwarves to let him take her to a proper resting place in his father's castle. During the journey, one of the servants carrying Snow's coffin slips and during the spill the apple piece gets dislodged from her throat and she wakes.
Just by sticking to the original text Disney could've made this less about the man rescuing her the rest of that woke bullshit is just ridiculous.

The DEI driven movies, shows, and games pushed by Disney and other studios are not authentic. They should strive to create content based on the indigenous stories written by the cultures of the world, not the corporations' shallow vision of transforming all them into the image of Southern California. We don't need female soldiers in historic wars. We don't need a Yasuke Samurai god. We don't need Jada's Cleopatra. We need stories to be as authentic as possible, to honor tradition, facts, customs, and lore, and we need them to be good.

It's not that people do not want great stories with representation. It's that it is so artificial and forced, evidently so. As Ziegler said, it's not even about retelling a classic tale but about using familiar characters in a way that strips them of their identity and putting forth hollow empty characterisations that do not really do the anything other than feel weird, weird. There are countless stories to be told. But Hollywood seems creatively bankrupt unable to give a voice to the "unrepresented" in a genuine way. We should be paid for every hour of streamed content dressed up in a woke dress of "representation and inclusion"

Actually the tale is not even from 1937... it's a classic fairy tale from centuries ago, if she doesn't know or disliked it she shouln't have signed for it.

The media company called The Daily Wire is making an upcoming one like that and calling it Snow White and the Evil Queen. With actress Brett Cooper as Snow White, and that upcoming movie will be more faithful to the original story. It will be released through Bentkey, The Daily Wire's subscription streaming app for children. When it releases, that version will completely humiliate Disney and this already controvercial version that they are making with a lot of disrespect.

Knowing Disney and the people working on the movie, I wouldn't be surprised if the woodsman is the person who suggests the queen have him kill snow white, and then snow white would get away from him by beating him in hand-to-hand combat, although it never showed her having any fighting ability. Who knows, the prince may even be the one who eats the poison apple in the new movie, hence removing most of his scenes.

How do you update classic stories for "modern audiences"? (I hate that phrase) You simply redo them as is or rerelease the claasic. And this is the real question that just baffles me. How do you increase "diversity" (another word I am so tired of). Does Columbia not have fairy tales? Africa? Mexico? Do we have to go and take a German story and make it about *diverse character*? That's what so incredibly telling about Disney. They want to piggy back on what they have instead of going out and finding stories in the cultures they so falsely say they want to represent. Go to China, go to Africa, go to Columbia, get their stories and write them. Be true. But wait that would take effort and talent. Do they even have talented writers or just activists in the writers room? I don't like Disney and after Deadpool they are not getting another dime from me.
The snippet of her and the prince gazing upon each other is undoubtedly little more than a bait and switch as Snow White will save the day, become a girl boss and save the prince, not the other way around.

I think the answer is pretty easy. Stop trying to "Modernize" classics, and write new modern stories. Diversity is great, but not at the expense of the story. Story and character development first. Diversity should be natural, not forced. That's where it goes wrong and gets rejected.
Hey, I'm all for more representation in media... but done right. Why do movie studios insist on gender, race, etc swapping existing or even historical characters just to fit their political narratives? You want more representation for black people? Awesome, then look for stories in black culture that have not been heard and deserve being in the spotlight. Don't just mess with existing stories so you can get attention from people who hate it then people who jump in to defend it. By not shining light on the culture of the various people they insist on pushing for representation and simply mess with existing media the only message they convey is that they do not believe that whoever they insist on shining a light on is really worth looking at.
