I'm going to say something that's probably going to be unpopular, but hear me out. It was a mistake casting Gal Gadot as the evil queen. Why, you ask? Because if you're going to have the evil queen be that attractive, you have to find someone that is a notch above that to be Snow White. That's a tall order, and to be blunt Rachel Zegler isn't up to it, either physically or personally. What they needed to do was find a slightly older, still attractive but clearly a little past it actress to be the evil queen. I say someone like Cate Blanchett or Gwyneth Paltrow. They're not bad looking, but they're clearly not at the height of their physical powers. Someone like Scarlett Johanson circa Iron Man 2, or maybe even a Dakota Johnson would work as Snow White. But they absolutely need to be a cut above the evil queen, whoever that is. Part of the point of the original fairy tale is that physical attractiveness will fade, but real beauty is internal and lasts forever. What all this makes clear to me is that Disney didn't understand the assignment.
Gal Gadot served in the Israeli army, She was crowned Miss Israel, competed in the Miss Universe..only the cream of the crop make it to that pageant. Plus, she was Wonder woman. Yes, blame the casting staff. If you have Gadot locked in to play the beautiful but evil queen, for a Snow White film the lead character HAS TO BE more beautiful than Gadot. A tall task, but doable considering how many people Disney could have brought in to read for the part. So the issue probably is, the DEI stuff took priority over the needs of the story as written.

Gal Gadot is an absolute star-charismatic, talented, and a true beauty inside and out. Rachel Zegler, on the other hand, just comes off as annoying and out of touch. They're not bad looking, but they're clearly not at the height of their physical powers. Someone like Scarlett Johanson circa Iron Man 2, or maybe even a Dakota Johnson would work as Snow White. But they absolutely need to be a cut above the evil queen, whoever that is. Part of the point of the original fairy tale is that physical attractiveness will fade, but real beauty is internal and lasts forever. What all this makes clear to me is that Disney didn't understand the assignment.
