The Eastman Romeo LA is breath of fresh air!

Here I take a look at Eastman's Romeo LA, one of the variants of the original Romeo first introduced in 2019. I give an overview of the important construction details and features, and give my views on the design. Of course I provide sound demos, both straight into the Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, and with light overdrive from the Cornerstone Gladio SC. I demo these sounds both in isolation and in a mix, then give my final thoughts.

I like Eastman’s choice of ebony for most of their fretboards. Nice and dark and even.

Thanks so much. I’d say they share some characteristics but are a bit different animal. Sonically a little more like a fully hollow guitar. They don’t cover exactly the same ground. Depends how radically different you need it to be.

This guitar is like a Gretsch 5420T with P90 instead of blacktop filtertrons. I have a 5420T and prefer its tone to this guitar.

I think they’re much more different than that. I believe the Romeo NYC might be the more Gretsch like version.
