Zach Eisenhour Just because you owe a lot to someone or something does not mean you need to bow your head and take its word as the law - that is antiquated thinking. Everyone should blindly agree with what the rich people in control say so they never jeopardize the next paycheque? If the average citizen thought that way we would never be fighting for the legalization of marijuana, marriage equality, etc.. You cannot have a thought revolution if everyone stays quiet and afraid of those in control.
To suggest that athletes should not medicate the pressures of an extremely strenuous occupation because a string of corrupt events within the government led to weed having the reputation it has... that blows me away. There are a number of places in the United States where smoking weed is legal recreationally, and it's medical benefits have been acknowledged across the board... but by your logic the athletes who would benefit the most from this should shut their mouths and stop fighting for their rights because "their contract says they shouldn't do it".
My issue with this is that Stephen A. is going out of his way to attack the athletes personally and call them stupid because they don't bide by his personal beliefs when it comes to suppressing angst towards employers. Similar to the grossly high number of prisoners in the United States with non violent marijuana related charges, when something is this unfair, sometimes the best way to fight it is to make it clear it is not changing anything. NFL players will continue to smoke in defiance of the terms & conditions in their contract, and I & many others applaud them for it.
It's not about stephen A's "beliefs." If you have MILLIONS OF DOLLARS on the line, you don't put anything in your body that could jeopardize that. That makes you STUPID.
Second of all, Josh Gordon was using it for recreational use, not for painkilling. He hasn't played enough games over the past 3 seasons to be in that kind of pain. Don't gimme that bullshit.

Look, I think weed should be legal, but Stephan A is right. If your employer says here is a contract for $5 million a year, but you can't smoke, you don't smoke. Every nfl player signs a contract, and in the contracts it says no weed. If you break that contract, you lose.
This is not about wether it should or shouldn't be legal/ok in sports, this is simply, players signed a contract saying they won't smoke, if they lose millions because of it, it's stupid.
