Excellent reaction. Joakim and Par started writing this in 2016 but wanted it to be perfect because it is so special a story, so they worked on it until 2020. I think they succeeded. You should consider reacting to Sabaton's 'Talvisota,' which is about the Winter War or "White Death" about Finnish sniper Simo HÀyhÀ. You might be interested to know that Joakim Broden, Sabaton's lead singer, has no formal vocal training. He started as the band's keyboardist, and they asked him to be the lead singer until they found one. As he puts it, "They never did. Lazy bastards." As you noticed, the outro was sung by Floor Jansen, who is married to Hannes van Dahl, the Sabaton drummer.

Anna, the reason why Sabaton was able to get Floor to sing the ending vocals?
Because the blonde-haired guy, Hannes, is Floor's husband.
And no matter how many times I hear this song, the combination of the symphonic elements and Floor's voice at the end gives me chills. Besides No Bullets Fly, Christmas Truce is one of the few songs I would not mind hearing in the stores during Christmas, because of its message. Lastly, the cross you see PĂ€r carving into actually still stands near Ypres, Belgium.

Hannes Van Dahl name is kind of funny, specially when he is married to a Netherlands girl. In Swedish its pronounced the same as Vandal, and that seams to be the point in him changing his name. Its seams to be a joke played on him as a teenager. Dahl was his original Sur name, but he was Karl-hannes original, change it for Van, so it become Van-dahl.
But in Dutch its like "from" .. and it make it sound like its a nobel name, while the intention is very much the opposite.

Thank you Anna for such a beautiful reaction and analysis to this masterpiece work of art. Most Sabaton songs are respectful tributes to actual military events and history. I saw them live with Epica back in October and they put on an amazing live show (as did Epica). When they played this song the whole theater was singing the chorus at the top of our lungs. As someone who served (20 year veteran) I think they perfectly captured the brotherhood that all soldiers share, even across battle lines. Then that beautiful ending with the cross that still stands today in Ypres, Belgium and then Floor's soaring vocals! Ugh! The tears start flowing every time. Hannes van Dahl, Sabaton's drummer, is Floor's husband ( they met while Sabaton and ReVamp were touring together in the US). Praw! Your analysis is amazingly sharp covering every aspect of the song, kudo’s! Can not think of a professional reactor that did the same: most are vocally interested, some of them with an eye for the composition as well, but youđŸ’Ș
    BTW your Finnish sounds beautiful❀

Don't be too hard on poor Joacim, he is the keyboard player in the band and only sings while the lazy bastards look for a new singer (band joke!) You should check out Thommy Johansson, the gentle giant playing the epic guitar solo. He is a fantastic singer with a band of his own called Majestica. He does a sick version of The phantom of the opera, where he sings both parts!

Thank you for this in deep analysis. I've watched a number of reaction/analysis videos on this song but have to say that yours gave me some hints and details previously not pointed out by other YT creators. Again, thank you!
Regarding recommendations for other Sabaton videos I would suggest "No bullets fly (Animated story video)" This long version tells the story the song is based on in more detail and turns it into a pretty emotional ride. The animation and the soundtrack to the parts whithout the song are in themselves a fine piece of work. The event took place a few days before christmas, so in a way it fits the season.
The way you skip between Finnish and English is pretty adorable. Thank you for the english subtitles, they helped a lot.
    Greetings from Germany!

I love the code switching (linguistics term) in this video and the fact that I got to hear some Finnish too.
I love Sabaton and this video for many reasons. It's deceptively deep. The way they blew up the piano at the end? "Oh you thought we stopped killing each other? Hahaha screw you" and they start mowing each other down again. Some of the people who were part of the truce had to be sent home, but the war went on. This does a really good job of showing how insane war is and how a person who was a friend 5 minutes ago can become an enemy because that's what the government wants. It's not "we're all friends and the world is perfect," it's more like "we WERE friends but then we stopped, 5am time to start shooting lmao"
Great reaction. More Sabaton please! Try Bismarck!
