Day in the Life: Camp Counselor

- Hey guys! In today’s video, I wanted to show you guys what a typical day is like for me as a camp counselor. Believe it or not, this is actually my first part-time job. Although it’s really tiring working a 9-5 and commuting using public transportation, it’s definitely worth it. I’m learning a lot, and can’t wait to share with you guys what I’ve learned in the future!

@@itshunnybee7623 👍.I've been trying to get a camp counselor job at the ymca, and they've been turning me down.I tried applying at different Y's, I've tried applying for different jobs there, and I've tried mailing them proof of my work.I even tried talking to my old counselors from the Y.I don't know what else I can do to get this camp counselor job.Please help a sista out, if you can.

So I came to this video because of the video game called "The Quarry." A video game (to simplify it) about the camp counselors experiencing a horror night. Because of the encouragement from the video game and also that the high school students are one of my niches to better lead both the counselors and kids to be entertained by my artistic skills. So for my part-time job I was thinking to be a day camp counselor at my local public school during summer and winter recess.
I love the Quarry!!! I'm a summer camp counselor this year and I thought of the game during the hiring process too haha

Hi, Rachelle! When you were a counselor, were you responsible for planning all of the activities every day? If so, how did you do decide them?
Hi! When I was a counselor, I worked with another camp counselor in coming up with break time activities. We usually planned the activities the day of, as the weather determined if we were inside or outside. We made sure to switch it up and not really repeat the same activity since there were both full day and half day campers, and some would come multiple weeks. Unless the kid really liked a particular game, of course. Hope this helps!

@@RealJustinRoblox oh my gosh it was so chaotic but fun. unfortunately the camp i worked at had a pretty strict schedule so you either did the activity planned or did nothing at all, which doesn’t make the job enjoyable at all but not all camps are like that. if you’re thinking about becoming/currently becoming a counselor i definitely recommend trying to find a camp where you can request to run a certain activity you excel in, or at least find one where there are plenty of different things for the kids to do at once
