- We're back to Oxygen Not Included, and today's goal is to try and AUTOMATE STORAGE for my Duplicants and their space colony! It's going to be a fun ride, especially getting the resources to upgrade everything!

I have a simple anti spoil for food I do early in game.
I make a small pit room 'below' the kitchen for food boxes. It fills with CO2 making a sterile environment. No energy, no rare resources, self sustaining.
That slime area walled off would work well. Double wall off the slime and food never go bad with fridge/sterile combined
food will still rot, you still need a deep freezer in a sterile environment.. so no self sustaining etc..
He literally used to do this. I am actually surprised (and somewhat worried) he forgot all of this in 2 ish years.
I love that he stumbled upon the yellow-alert geyser identification exploit.
Wheezeworts are great, but remember that they are radioactive now...maybe the kitchen isn't the best place XD

Mine is even green, just like uranium.
Also not as efficient. Ideally keep them in a highly pressurized environment with gas that has a higher thermal capacity. Cannot remember top of head what I use. Believe I use a high pressure oxygen room. Been a while.
Essentially wheezeworts efficiently cool that room, then I have a closed cycle radiator system.
Wheezeworts used to be so OP... now they are basically a negative

@@SovaKlr How are they negative? I have 2 in my generator room cooling the air and producing radiation for research. And after a successful test I am currently building a weezwart containment zone in my septic tank to remove germs and cool water a little. If it works as planned all my polluted water will be in range of a single weezwart's radiation.

Your recent Oxygen Not Included series has got me playing again as well 🙂. I've already learned some tricks from you (although in some cases by not repeating your mistakes). I have zero experience with conveyors so far, so thanks for showing me the basic principle. I'll be sure to try out something similar soon.
A few tips from my own experience: You can plant reed fibers too. Only a couple plants will get you all the fibers you need for atmo suits, and plenty of surplus to make snazzy suits on the textile loom for morale. You can also get fibers from ranching dreckos, but they're not really worth the maintenance for that. I do breed them into the smooth variety for plastic though.
Speaking of breeding: Feeding your hatches copper ore won't do anything! You first need to get stone hatches by feeding the normal ones sedimentary rock to increase their likelihood of laying a stone egg. Then you feed the stone hatches copper ore until they lay smooth eggs. It's a long process but totally worth it, as it allows you to refine metal without heating up your base. - Sage hatches I've found less useful so far, but they might be useful to get rid of polluted dirt and slime, as they'll eat that as well.

Oh, and another thing: On the grill you can turn meal lice into pickled meal. Their quality is bad but they have an excellent shelf life, so you will have hardly any spoilage. The dupes will eat all the tasty food before even looking at pickled meal, but they make for a nice emergency ration if your other food sources should get in trouble.
Feeding sage hatches with polluted dirt or slime will result in polluted oxygen though, or worse, *slimelung.* Best get a deodorizer in there if you get em.
Ah yes, the good old lack of oxygen poisoning.

I don't really see the point of that one so far. For water, the cool slush is better (unless you need to heat some area, which I doubt), and for steam power you need a proper steam vent, as this one's too cold.

Hi Blitz :) you should rotate your Rancher and Cooker they have opposite loves
You can build the critter ranches vertically to save sweepers and it still counts towards size.

Yeah, and make sure to prevent the slime to outgas the infected poll oxygen by storing it in highly pressurized place.. Like submerge it in the water for simple option
He figured out the trick to checking the vent without digging it out by accident.
Should store the different ice in the tanks to help cool things down

If you put a door with a tile on top in the hatch area between the grooming Station and the next free spot, you lose 3 tiles of space but can contain the hatches in a smaller area while still having it considered a larger room, as they can't path over a 3 tile tall area, or a door (unless set to always open), this will let your auto sweeper reach all potential drop areas without needing two, and reduce pathing for hatches which as a bonus helps the game run a bit better late game!
Edit: dealing with slime just make sure none of your containers can contain slime and they'll leave it where it is and not trail it into your base, you can put storages underwater and it'll prevent the slime from off gassing and it can be safely stored, but I'd recommend putting this storage outside your main base area for the moment, to prevent the dirty oxygen getting in make a narrow 2 tall corridor with 3 or 4 deodoriser it'll clean the air and give free oxygen

Instead of refined metal suits. There is cheaper suits call gas mask. So you can farm slime without slimelung easier
