I never thought about how feature filled a lot of the 3D MK games were. Probably the most under appreciated part.
As stale as the gameplay could get at times (compared to the chaotic Klassic titles), there was definetly a lot of shit to do. Be that unlocking secrets in the Krypt, maxing out Konquest modes, watching secret videos and having fun in Kreate-a-Fighter will always stay as a superb way to pass time on PS2.

That MK titanium symbol in MK X was insane. Almost broke my controller and my hand. I still think it was luck that i beat that challenge though.
I play on ps4 and I had a little advantage that guitar hero taught me and that was put a glove on to reduce grip, make the controller face away from you, then you place your index or middle finger in the center of the buttons and quickly slide your finger up and down as quickly as possible whilst keeping your finger on the controllers face then finally you press the trigger or try hold it until the time runs out. Probably not the most consistent or most effective way but it worked
@@tuttiman55 i used a pen and my shirt to slide across the buttons. Will never do that again with my controller. Even doing this way it tooks a lotta tries to beat it. I wasn't even looking at the TV. The time limit is tight so i was only looking at the joystick and sweating lol did it with Jason i guess (makes no difference though).

@@tuttiman55 i did it years ago. Couldn't beat this challenge any other way. What a stupid minigame. It's not even worth because you can really mess the controller by trying to break that symbol. I play MK since the first one but never really dig these bonus. I remember breaking the diamond once in the first MK and that was brutal too.
There's a special way to do it. It involves a AA battery

Excellent idea. I would love to see this implemented with a weapon kombat system. Like both the kharacters pull out their weapons and press the same button at the same time and then a buttons mash sequence commence. Just like the old dbz games. That would be amazing man. I really hope they listen to the audience for mk12
Kinda reminds me of the many clashes that Mortal Kombat VS DC had.
Especially the one in the city where you bulldoze the enemy through the buildings, the oppressor has to mash buttons to deal more damage whilst the defender has to mash buttons to get dealt less damage.
Really fun mechanic. Same can't exactly be said for the rest, be that the bitch-slap-fest guessing game or the falling guessing game but hey, to each their own.
So I could definetly see some kind of clash minigame similar to a beam struggle in Dragon Ball fighting games work perfectly in Mortal Kombat.

Test Your Might also appeared in MKvs.DC. In some arenas you threw your opponent against a wall and ran then through to the other side of the arena. You had to press buttons to increase your damage done while your opponent pressed buttons to decrease it. This was in the Metropolis, Gotham City, and Dark Kahn’s throne room stages

I just don't get how it's possible to mash that fast without modded controllers around and after the 6th stage.
The trick is actually to take your thumb and wrap it in the edge of your shirt and then slide your thumb back and forth super fast across all four face buttons.

In MK1 I've never seen neither rubi nor diamond tests.
They only appear after 20 and 25 matches in a row, respectively.
I was able to do it using the SNES turbo controller
