      All I know is when Torres is anywhere near another player on defense the play results in a hit or an error. The guy is always out of position, always. He tries to be Voipe who can get anywhere quickly. Torres is a turtle. In a do or die situation at the plate game on the line he chokes. He is getting worse every game and the reason IMO is he lost his confidence and is trying way to hard. He can't handle this being his FA season cause he knows he is trade bait.

    I proposed a trade for Kim over 2 months ago. Most people crapped all over it. Kim was the everyday SS during Tatis Jr. Suspension and eventually forced Tatis to the outfield. Kim is a right-handed hitter who has limited power. He is a typical Japanese slap type hitter who has speed. Additionally, Kim has played at the two middle infield position with few errors. I am not sure that he has ever played the corner infield position. I could see Kim as a possible candidate for an infield move.

    Closer, Catcher, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, 2 pen arms, and skip the partridge in the pear tree.lol.. Rice will be solid at first and has been so far. Also team meeting about staying the hec away from 0 and 2 counts. It is not working!!! They work the count early, get in the 1 2 count or worse 02 count and have to swing at pitchers pitches and that hurts the hits with RISP. Seems that way to me.IMO an 0 2 count is an out 90% of the time one way or another.

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson Před 6 dny +1

      It wouldn't be opinion. It would either be accurate or not. I don't know the numbers, but there are definitive numbers for how many 0-2 counts there are and what the result is of each AB that gets to 0-2.

    • @EagleS197
      @EagleS197 Před 6 dny +2

      @@snerdterguson I am aware of the stats on the outcome of certain counts. That stat is avail as a team or individual player. The players I see it affect are Volpe, and definitely Torres. Judge and STanton and Soto are in 1 2 02 a lot but they are the exception to the rule both are good 2 strike hitters, Stanton has gotten better at it and now is better at it than Judge. I added IMO because I played enough as a younger man, and coached and managed to tell you IMO 1 2 and 0 2 counts are hurting the Yankees and 90% of the time, roughly you swing at a pitchers pitch and pop up, ground out or worse GIDP, or K. Just sayin. Tonight watch. Count the 0 2 and 1 2 counts and every one ,9 out of 10 times will result in an out. If I am wrong I will be shocked. Judge Torres Volpe biggest ones it pertains to. Who takes more strikes than Verdugo? That's his game though. He wants the pitch he likes and will not swing at garbage. Soto does the same thing but lately he is in swing mode to often for some reason. Can't argue with their results overall for sure, it's just a pet peeve of mine behind in the count leads to behind in the game if it happens to much and these last few loses prove that. Well that and the fact our pen coughed it up a bunch.

    You make some salient and accurate statements about improving the team, especially at the 2nd. base position Jason. It's painfully apparent the Torres is not holding down the position with any efficient play. Laissez faire, actually lazy and careless on a short fly ball into the short field he could have caught, and mishandling rotine ground balls handcufs the Yankees. To his credit, 2 days against the Orioles be made a fine play on a ground ball to get the runner, and was a key play in the Yanks win. But the consistency is just not there anymore and he is not hitting well. Cashman should look into a trade for India, snd hopefully it jump starts the middle infield defense again and gives Volpe a good partner at second base.
    Having said that, if this Yankees teams start to break down with starting pitching, although it's been excellent except for this hiccup and should recover. The bullpen for some reason is in a slump, and they should also improve. But this has to fixed asap, witness the Yankees toughest rivals shellacking both the starters and relievers this past week. You have to beat the top teams in your division and do it consistently, or your whistling past the grave yard. Win consistent over all the league teams as well, and it will happen shortly. I believe the staff will rebound and pitch well against Atlanta, the Mets and the upcoming schedule.

    Trading Gleyber would be fine but hes not the biggest problem. Jon Berti should be back in August and he's a good defender. The Yankees need at least one or two bullpen arms and possibly a closer. Effros will be back but hard to rely on him. Unless Rizzo is out for the season he is going to be the 1st baseman. I say look for a good veteran bat off the bench who can play 1st and some outfield. Catching is becoming another headache. Its just hard to change 3 o4 position players in midseason.

  • @donaldroblyer7364
    @donaldroblyer7364 Před 6 dny +1

    With Rizzo's injury and Torres' sloppy play, I would assume neither will be back next year. However the yankees decide to handle this, they need to decide where they are going now. Whether they are going to go inside their system or outside. Everyday players need to play everyday and produce. The yankees seem to be always looking for relief pitchers and yes they can be quite disappointing at times, but they're always tinkering with the staff. If they can improve the infield some it would help a lot. At the moment, Baltimore is a bit better and more balanced but not unbeatable.

    How about Holmes? Do we agree he’s not a dependable closer? Trade for a better closer put him in bullpen

    We haven't have a lot of luck with trades of late. So I would rather see promotions from the farm system.

    No, he’s just another fill in piece and his stats are no better than what they have.

    Please go get Nolan Gorman ...Waldo at 3rd is working !!...No Kim!....My vision would be Rice at Catcher and Spencer at 1st in the near future ! < "I Get Spencer isn't ready yet!? "> I hope we keep Doogie and Soto ....Then we can float Martian ! Martian unfortunately is injury prone and so are a few other players ! Martian would get a lot of playtime and might eventually take a permanent position ~! This would also give our outfield plenty of rest going into OCT !! He should be brought up and replace Jones sooner than later !

      Yankees aren’t paying Dugie when we’re gonna be paying Soto $43-$50 million. Dugie is gonna get $15-$20 million from someone. We can’t allocate majority of our payroll to the outfield. I don’t believe Jones will be moved to 1st he’s the best Centerfielder in our system besides Grisham. It would be a waste of his talent to put him on 1st

      @@michaelhelton3805 Well...Martian is injury prone so far! IDK if we can Count on him ? So we have issues ! I would like to see Rice at Catcher if possible !? I just really like the upside of Spencer but I think many are hung up on Martian !? 3rd Base is an issue ...but I don't mind Waldo ! I don't have many answers ...I just like the idea of bringing up some farm by next year and fill in some spots with youth!

      @@kennethsalter9998 if your labeling the Martian injury prone then so is the majority of the big league roster and minors. The Martian was just pushing himself hard to get back. I don’t believe the Yankees look at Rice as a catcher because we’ve got so many in the system. I am all in with you in calling up some guys we need the youth it brings speed and athleticism. Some of the guys you named like Jones, Hampton and Vivas just aren’t ready yet. Ramirez, Durbin, and Neely should be up right now helping the team
