  • @quasar4780
    @quasar4780 Před 5 lety +4

    I know it has been 2 years since you uploaded this video, but I just wanted to thank you for reviewing this game, it has been the very first game along with Tak my brother and I have ever played and without them, perhaps I would never have gotten myself into game development. I a bit surprised you've never talked about the music though. I'm not a sound designer, but I can tell there's a lot of work put in each soundtrack, even though most of them are not memorable. They all stick to the visuals of their specific level and all have a variation of themselves during the arena battles, often pitched-down and sped up to make them feel more dynamic. Each boss battle has a very unique, badass soundtrack that keep me replaying them again and again to this day (espacially the Rattlecrab and the Iguana King's ones, they are worth buying the entire game by themselves).
    And about the arenas battles, I personally didn't mind them back in the day, but seeing them now with a completely different perspective, I can understand why some people find them boring. But I think their main purpose is to keep the player busy long enough to load the next section of the levels.
    Have you ever noticed how long the levels are ? I think some of them (eg. iridium or Altus) take about between 20-30 minutes to complete, if not more (providing you're not speedrunning of course). They couldn't keep the game running at 60 fps while continuously loading the next sections of the levels as the player progressed, so they needed a way to slow him down while doing so. Although it was a bit lazy, I think this was the best solution they could come up with to keep a fluid experience. Kinda like in Haven, where the player was constantly harassed by hords of ships while in space, forcing him to slow down to fight them and giving more time for the game to load the planet's textures. This is a pretty common way, even/mostly today, to load important chunks of detailed 3D models whitout massive framedrop issues, and thus ruining the immersion.
    That's all I had to say. And sorry if I made any english mistakes, I'm not a native-speaker.

    He doesnt like Turret levels?
    Try the "Destroy Airship-Tanker at Drill-Platform"-Mission from Jak II, and do it on Hero-Mode (Hard Mode)
    I was going mad for literally WEEKS trying to finish that level on Hero Mode. An endless Barrage of enemies doing erratic movements, if (when) you die an absolutely relentless reset point that made you do the mission all over again *regardless* of your progress, a shitty field of view that had you wondering from where you were being shot at, it goes on for at least 15 minutes with no way to speed up the process, and to top it all off: your gun could overheat (how fun, right?).
    By the time i was able to finish on Hero Mode I only did it by memorizing the spawn points of *every single enemy*. literally one single mistake could ruin everything, since the enemies spawned on a schedule and it could get real crowded real soon if you didnt kill them quickly enough.
    You dont like turret levels? Give that one a try. You'll piss blood after 2 hours of torture.

    Hooooooooooooooly crap I've known of this game for so damn long cause the small family of ladies (2 college-age sisters n their mom) who ran a sort of after-school daycare thing at their house had a bunch of games (mostly Playstation and NES mostly from my memory) and I remember they had this game there and I thought it was so cool but I could NEVER find it later when I tried to in the future so THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS IT BROUGHT BACK SO MANY VIVID MEMORIES!!! I even remembered the intro part where an army guy was electrocuting a blonde kid in an electric chair and the kid saying something bout someone's name before being transported to some other world and the boss in that weird green substance that u had to grind around but I never found out how to beat and the boss who had that force field thing around em and kept pounding the ground repeatedly to make waves in it that u had to avoid and the one level where u were a flying creature thing where u had to catch up with someone else who was also riding one or something, and I even forgot about that flying giant enemy crab boss before you showed it here and I remembered it in all it's slowly swaying glory. God, good times

      >dunce cap slowly falls on D MAS' head
      also the PlayStation lineup of consoles are consistently numbered, it's not like Nintendo which has a new name for every platform (not to mention liking the word "new" itself) or Xbox going from 1 to 360
      >someone says "the 360 was first"
      oh...err, right, see, isn't that confusing?

    Growing up, I never heard of Scaler until I was about 15 I believe. I remember seeing a picture of the game on the Internet and I really wanted to get it but I procrastinated too much and missed out on it. I didn't get the game till about last year and I just started a few weeks ago (In fact, currently playing it right now lol).

I wish the world knew scaler more than it does because it truely deserves more than it received. i really love the quality of your videos, i think you're oone of those gold youtubers that im happy to watch. My only criticism to most of the reviews is their pacing, or more the talking about 1 subject short, but then talking about something else longer + sidetracking, comparrision to other games are fun but if its repeated constantly it hurts the pace. The game looks fun, i love games where i dont need to play as human characters.

    Ooh, I've never really noticed the outro music. It's great! Also, I must say NitroRad your channel provides me two things I can't get enough of. 3D platformers (and platformers in general), and those amazing Silent Hill Videos. I find myself re-watching the Silent Hill and Ty videos every few months. You do such a good job with your videos I look forward to your content more than some other channels that may push out an entire video (even 2 or 3) ever single day. Thanks for being so awesome =) Little side question, are you planning on doing anything regrading the new HD Ty release(s) that are coming next month? Granted I doubt anything will really change, but I'd love to see another video to re-cap everything one more time.
