The questions always roll in when a new camera gets released on whether or not you should upgrade or not.
A lot depends on what you do and how you do it to determine if you should go with the Canon 5D Mark IV or Canon 5D Mark III.
I made this video to put them side by side and give you some thoughts on both of there specs and who each camera would be more.
For me as a working professional I see no reason why I personally wouldn't upgrade form the Mark III to the Mark IV. If you're a non working professional and yes I think that stipulation means something and you have a Mark III, unless you need to upgrade you don't have to.
As I have been saying for years, it's not the camera that makes you, it's you who makes the camera.

You made a 14 minute video about cameras and all you do is just talk, where are the examples photos? example videos? why not show us how the 4k video looks like?
STOP YELLING AT ME PLEASE! IT'S KIND OF ANNOYING. BUT THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
Sticking with my 5D Mark III... Not enough here worth upgrading really. Especially with 5 grand price tag in Australia...
I just got a new mark 3 for 400 bucks as a gift. mark 4 is still like 900+ bucks, may as well get a mirrorless at that point
Nah, i'll wait for the 5d mark 10 to come out.
I would rather save the cash and get more glass..
Congratulation... 3499$ I want it for. At germany 4000€ = 4500$. Feels like a bad joke.
I have to decide Buy my 1st profesional camara. I think that Canon 5 D Mark iii will be good start. Thank you
I just upgraded a month ago from Mark III to IV. It might not be worth the money for people on a budget but if you're an enthusiast, it's definitely a fun upgrade to make. The touch screen is totally awesome. Very fast and very intuitive like I would never expect from a niche product like this. It's almost if not as much as responsive as an iPhone. I also wanted to have a GPS for many years but hated the fact that the external one uses the hot shoe. The wifi is also very worth it. I now peacefully sit on my sofa and presort my pictures while watching TV, pixel peeping on my iPad before I transfer the files to Lightroom. I've heard so many rant on the mark IV it's almost convinced me not to upgrade. BUT... it's still way better than the mark III AND and it's a Canon with an EF mount!!! You don't get that with a A7RII, do you?
Anybody can read off some specs and "compare" any two cameras. Give us insights and real world performance tests to see the difference, that's be a real comparison.
Man the MK 4 is making the MK 3 look pretty good especially when you consider the age and price differences.
Mark IV it is.
Typical Canon trying to play it safe and not kill it's other products.
I'm not using my camera (5dIII) for video at all, I just wanted a camera to take pictures (not videos) so sticking with my 5DIII for now :-)
Hi Jared, what type camera you used to record this video ?
30.4 MP vs 22.4. processing power, wifi, nfc, gps, dual pixel raw, viewfinder 2, 4k, 1080 @ 60fps, hdr video, timelapse, auto focusing in video mode. just to name a few upgrades and you say it's not worth it. getting this camera you wouldn't have to upgrade for a very long time. it is definitely a worthy upgrade especially for those who want the best and not looking to upgrade for a long time. think of it as a long time investment.
The autofocus in video mode on the Mark IV is worth it for itself for anyone doing video, if you're going to compare mark iii to mark IV. The autofocus is soooooo handy for self filming situations especially when you don't have a landmark or object to set the focus upon and want to get a quick shot. Something that is even more difficult when you're shooting wide open.
Just got an used 5d mk iii. Im pretty happy with it, dont bother it being a bit old if I can buy if for less than 50% of mk IVs price
Ive been shooting with the MKII for about 6 years now. Its been my workhorse. I honestly feel like upgrading to the MKIV makes sense for me, would be another reliable work camera that I could trust for the next few years
I've been shooting with the original 5D for a couple years now. It makes great photos but there are some limitations, especially in low light. Can't wait to upgrade to the mark iii finally!!
