- We perform live shows every week, but learning to capture it for CZcams was whole new ball game haha. "No Roots" was our first video, and we filmed it live with a single microphone. It took us a few more videos to get the equipment and experience we needed to master it!

Flannel shirts, blue jeans, one mic, no flashing lights, no smoke, no leaping across the stage, just flat out pure talent! That's the Petersens, and that's why we love them!

How is it possible that one family gets:
1) The looks - each and everyone of your family is simply beautiful.
2) A perfect singing voice and an ability to sing perfectly.
3) The musical talent to play an instrument and the discipline to practise to the level your at.
4) Great intern relationships between the family members, so that you can even play in a band together.

The music was amazing, but i especially love how happy the mandolin player looks singing this. The older sisters are so stoked for her, and she just looks like she's on the verge of laughing the entire time. Made me smile the whole song :)

Update from 2 years ago. I was in a convienence store tonight and I heard a cover of "No Roots" playing. It sounded good but it just didn't have Julianne Petersen singing.
Even after watching this many times over the last 4 years this is still an amazing cover that shows just how much the Petersens can do with pure talent and one microphone!

Emmett Franz is an exceptional dobroist! I really like how he tears aggressively into his solo here, and I love what he does in the lower register of his solo (if that's how to describe it). The latter strikes a balance between his ability to be subtle and nuanced while introducing a hint of controlled chaos. It's very cool.

I love the arrangement on this piece. The girls' harmonies on the bridge are just perfect and Emmett's Dobro chops are top notch. On one hand it's hard to believe Emmett's not a full time studio and tour musician but on the other hand he fits so perfectly in this group it's hard to imagine these songs without him.

I actually first discovered "No Roots" (the original version from Alice Merton) back in November 2017 on Music Choice Pop Hits, also played later that day on the radio station.
I was in a truck with what she called beats... she was listening to real loud rap music...... I asked if I could listen to "NO ROOTS" she let me 😲😲😲😲😲...listen to that song with 1000's of watts ...and with BASS dang mama....you go girl......🤩🤩🤩

Another best version I ever heard. There is sooo much awesome in this song Julianne picks and kills the coolest songs but Emmett comes in and delivers a Dobro solo that just makes the song totally unstoppable. Emmett you are the piece that was missing you truly kick ass sir.
