Heavy sandstorm with dust clouds towering at least 100 metres (330ft) high hit China’s Dunhuang city on July 25, 2021. Home to the Mogao caves, a Unesco World Heritage Site, Dunhuang is located in the Gobi Desert, known for its harsh climate and living conditions.

It is deeply disturbing for me, a Chinese, to see that there are people in the comment section which use such horrid language to discriminate against us and being happy about this natural disaster which as adversely impacted the lives of the people and may cause damage to the historical cultural artifacts in this city of great prominence. Sure our last generation may have not been the eco-friendliest but the younger Chinese are catching up; I have became vegetarian and I take public transport more than ever to allow for environmental protection. I wish the best for the great people of the city of Dunhuang, which I have visited and the people are the most friendly. The people that feel happiness at the suffering of others? Not so much.

Although the Extreme weather conditions like floods in Henan province is a once in few hundreds years flood, just like the snow storm in Texes, but natural disasters happen often in China due to the massive territory and various different ecosystems. Japan and Taiwan for example experience earthquake often, and California experience high volume of wild fire , or high frequencies of tornadoes in west part of America it all happens due to the geographical location.
