I have to say this was a fantastic and very well thought out list. I didn’t have Montana as my favorite at any stage of the contest, but now months later, it’s the one that stuck with me the longest, and one I find myself coming back to every time I fire up my ASC playlist. Not mad about that at all.

Cheers for watching mate! The pure chaos route No. 1 was the only real option when our tastes differ so wildly, but that’s why Eurovision etc is always better watched with a group like this where possible, I’d never think Steady Machine could be considered good or Jocelyn could be considered bad but here we are!

Great to hear your thoughts. I think this contest it's great, but has a problem that songs evaluation are so different between people and actually there is no clear favourite. My, also European, list:
    My finalists:
    1. Rhode Island, Hueston. It's so beautiful and deep song, I still can't understand how it lost to Sparrow...
    2. Oklahoma, AleXa. The best performance overall and something new.
    3. Texas, Grant Knoche. Most catchy beat and rythm overall. Wonderful performance and a real party hit.
    4. Wyoming, Ryan Charles. The best "joke" song, original, catchy and feels real American.
    5. Michigan, Ada LeAnn. Great artist, wonderful performance and song with meaning.
    6. Guam, Jason J. Beautiful voice and a song with meaning. Real gem left sadly unnoticed.
    7. Colorado, Riker Lynch. That song is a "killing" grower. Firstly, I was thinking it's generic, but now can't stop listening these catchy vibes.
    8. Georgia, Stela Cole. That girl is so talented and her voice is so beautiful.
    9. Washington, Allen Stone. High quality song, even it's not my cup of tea.
    10. Nevada, The Crystal Method, just like this kind of songs and love diversity.
    II half of semifinalists:
    11. North Dakota, Chloe Fredericks. So American, great artist and voice. A song itself is a little generic, but more meaningful as Montana's song.
    12. Montana, Jonah Prill. So American, great artist. And one strong line about Fire it up?, but the song itself needs more meaning.
    13. Oregon, courtship. Catchy, great performance and memorable "joke" entry. It has eurovision spirit in it, indeed.
    14. American Samoa, Tenelle. It's catchy and meaningful song. Just I will added a little bit of more stronger notes. It sounds simple but has something inside.
    15. Kentucky, Jordan Smith. Great voice, performance. Just song is a little bit generic.
    16. Alabama, Ni/Co. Lovely couple, sounds great. Song has a meaning, but lacks stronger accents to remember.
    17. Connecticut, Michael Bolton. Catchy, beautiful song. Motivates at current times for peace. Just a singer could be more natural on the scene. Now song is stronger then artist (rear case in this contest). Yes, I heard he is kinda famous, but I don't feel that from the song.
    18. Delaware, Nitro Nitra. It is loud and interesting. Different and has a strange vibe who makes you shout.
    19. Kansas, Broderick Jones. Great artist, wonderful performance. Everything perfect. Except the song lyrics is so forgetable... But he is definetly worth to be in semifinal.
    20. Arkansas, Kelsey Lamb. Great artist, wonderful performance. Everything perfect. Except the song is so forgetable...
    Wild cards
    21. New York, Enisa. It's catchy and unique song, that green lights create a good vibe. Only the first performance wasn't strong, second was better. She is improving, so worth of second chance. The case when song is stronger then artist.
    22. Northern Mariana Islands, Sabyu. It's beautiful and clever representation of local tourism. I want to travel when listening this song. Just singer needs to be a little stronger. For me definately worth of the second chance.
    Good songs:
    23. Mississippi, Keyone Starr. It's firing, just a little bit too repetitive. Needs more words.
    24. Virginia, Almira Zaky. The song which is a real grower. At first you don't like it, then it starts growing. But too slowly.
    25. Louisiana, Brittany Pfantz. Strong shout of motivation. Lacks something more catchy.
    26. New Jersey, Brooke Alexx. It has a meaning. But it drowns somewhere in the rythm.
    27. New Hampshire, Mari. Great anthem of motivation. One more and nothing new.
    28. Pennsylvania, Bri Steves. It is a forgettable song which elavates so much with memorable performance by strong artist. Still it is not a hit.
    29. Hawaii, Bronson Varde. Some parts are memorable. Overall it sinks between other songs.
    30. U.S. Virgin Islands, Cruz Rock. Chaotic and generic. But has a vibe.
    31. Iowa, Alisabeth Von Presley. Like the energy. But it lacks something.
    32. Puerto Rico, Christian PagĂĄn. Too repetitive and too much Loco poco. As Latin music lover, I think overall it's too generic entry.
    33. Arizona, Las MarĂas. It could be great song if performers were more experienced. Now it is average Latin vibes.
    34. Ohio, Macy Gray. Great song but not very good performance. It was not a Macy Gray night.
    35. Idaho, Andrew Sheppard. Not my cup of tea, but has some charms. Could be a grower.
    36. New Mexico, Khalisol. I don't like rap, but think it's good song.
    37. Maryland, SisqĂł. I know Sisqo before, they could be stronger. Very average song.
    38. Wisconsin, Jake'O. New Elvis. Great artist, but song is generic and repetative.
    39. Florida, Ale Zabala. Great vibe, good mood, great performance. Could be higher on a list or even semifinalist, but I hate this song lyrics. Definetely, written and created by men about women fealings, even the performance with annoying stereotypical pink tones. And that's why as a woman you started to hate this song.
    40. Indiana, UG skywalkin. Just for different styles representative.
    Average songs:
41.Tennessee, Tyler Braden. Great voice. Still don't understand all this Jury love.
    42. Massachusetts, Jared Lee. He has a unique voice. Just a song is repetitive and boring.
    43. Vermont, Josh Panda. Just average.
44 Missouri, Halie. Forgettable. But possible to find something.
    45. Maine, King Kyote. American, sounds great. But you can't remember about what is this song at all. Don't get a hype about it at all.
    46. Minnesota, Yam Haus. Annoying "Ready to go". But you remember. Just why it is not the last.
    47. Nebraska, Jocelyn. Too much Never alone. 1 minute enough.
    48. Utah, Savannah Keyes. Just beautiful girl.
    49. Alaska, Jewel. Nothing special. And could be more emotional or personal if it is a story.
    50. North Carolina, John Morgan. One phrase song.
    Songs I hardly remember:
    51. South Carolina, Jesse LeProtti. Nebraska managed to get with one phrase into head, this one can't do even that. And the theme the same. But his voice is nice.
    52. California, Sweet Taboo.Yes it's a girl group, but nothing special.
    53. West Virginia, Alexis Cunningham. Somebody likes her, so maybe not the last one...
    54. Washington, D.C., NĂ«ither. When the group name is a most memorable part...
    55. South Dakota, Judd Hoos. Just for song name.
    56. Illinois, Justin Jesso. ?

Thanks for your thoughts, I’m really glad someone shared their own Top 56 here, especially in the actual qualifier format! I think most of the songs you’ve put through are the ones I also would, it’s only New Jersey and California that I really like which didn’t make your Top 20. I think it’s funny that all three of us in the video had Green Light in 22nd or 23rd and you’ve also got it in the wildcard slot that it also had in the show. Just a very 21st place kind of song, haha. If your final 10 was the real final I reckon Eurovision fans would start to take ASC pretty seriously
And I don’t think NËITHER even was a group so that says a lot about the memorability

I agree on Never Alone probably shouldn't have put to many “never alones” had only 2 months to write, learn and pick how I wanted to sing it before before my performance. When I perform it live, now that I'm comfortable with it, I keep almost of the “never alone” out and maybe only sing three. If I ever release a new recording, I'll make sure to do less. Still was a fun song to write and the messaging of the song is and will always be my favorite thing about it.

    • @TaleOfTheToaster
      @TaleOfTheToaster  Pƙed rokem +1

@@JocelynMusic for me it was perfect! Sure there’s a lot of “never alones” but it’s a song made to make you feel comforted and when you’re lost in that, I don’t mind a bit of repetition, if anything it makes it more comfortable. It’s not for everyone, sure, but it’s still one of the songs I listen to the most cos it’s not really a song for listening to in groups, but just by yourself where no one needs to “judge”. I’ll have to listen to some of your more recent performances though!
