Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
A Tour of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates: Desert Oasis City
I literally grew up in that city before I came back home to Canada. My parents worked there for 30 years and trust me, I’ve traveled the world but this city by far in my opinion is the most peaceful and the most beautiful city in the world! Wonderful people, very warm and friendly Arabs.
I've lived in Al Ain for more than two years. I have travelled the world extensively but this city by far my favorite and I still visit it whenever I can :)
I lived in Al Ain from 2005 to 2008 and revisited in 2010. It's a beautiful city with much to do and I loved living there.
Call me
"Very different from what you see in the news about Middle East and the Arab culture - very refreshing". As the saying goes: "Traveling makes you an open minded person"
UAE has always been safe for tourists though. It doesn't reflect the entire middle east. Look what has happened to Egypt. It was the safest and the best Arab country to visit but now it's one of the worst because of a regime change.
I don't think he is talking specifically about safety, rather about the attitude of people there. The media portray Muslims, especially Arabs as evil, but what you really encounter in travel is a very different picture. That is true in all over there as I have seen people praising the hospitality and welcoming nature of Arabs and Muslims in different countries including Egypt.
@@BinuJasim especially our Indian media which has got Islamphobia to a mount everest level. They also try to find any negative news regarding muslims nd when they get success they give the news some spices nd chillies for 2-3 days !!
One of my neighbour told me that Dubai in UAE is such safe that she as a woman can travel on its streets even at 2am midnight !!
@@user-hm2ni6lg3j I am Indian and live in abu dhabi and it's a beautiful place.
Emarati ppl are so kind well behaved ppl. I loved this place very safe for all humans. I am just in love of this place.
UAE is not the same as other middle eastern countries. All the countries in the Arabian Peninsula are very well developed, except Yemen.
Was in Al Ain 2 months ago, it's an awesome place if we compare it to other parts of UAE. Happy New Year 2018 to everyone who see my comment. Thanks.
FlyingToWorld i saw you there at the festival i went there but i didnt know you at that time
It's a very attractive city. No intrusive and ugly buildings about. It's just so very cool that you are in this city I'd never heard of just to experience it. Happy New Year and happy travels to you.
Loving these UAE videos more than I thought. We all just think of the glitzy stuff. Seeing a normal city with regular people enjoying a BBQ in the park is great to see.
Cool. Next video will be glitzy though, Dubai for New Year's.
Glitzy side good too and your take on it! But going to Al Ain really was great for your UAE series in my opinion.
Thanks Gabriel for a nice Video. I lived in UAE in 1968 and it was just desert and few old houses scattered around with few rugged streets. the highest building was the Hotel of 2 stories. Look at it now WOWWWWW.
Wow, that's a trip. Times have definitely changed.
We lived in Al Ain for a year in 2015. It was an amazing place to live. Calm, clean, beautiful... and close to Dubai or Abu Dhabi if you need it. My favourite places were the Oasis, Green Mubazzarah (sorry for the spelling) and Jebel Hafeet, that I ran all the way up once. And when it is not too hot, a walk in the desert was amazing. The desert has always been fascinating to me. Thank you for the video.
Wow ! the music and the fort at 4:26 straight out of 1001 Arabian nights.
I lived there from 1999 to 2020. In the opening shot it's the park downtown across form the Rotana. Every Tuesday from October through May a group of us from UAEU would throw frisbees. We'd have lots of people watch us and we would get locals and others to join us. I'd bring my boys and they'd play with other kids, running around the park. In the winter time during those beautiful cool days it was just so nice. Of all the things from my life in Al Ain, I think of those days most often. Al Ain is extremely peaceful and safe. It was a great place to raise young kids. My only complaint was the population grew too much for my tastes, but that's true just about everywhere.
You unite the world in your camera....great. ..love from India...HaPPY NEW YEAR 2018..
The city name "Al-Ein" means a "well" in arabic incase anyone wants to know.. hints, water well
It means "Eye" As well. Not just well
Exceptional!! Once upon a time in one of my classes, a student from the UAE gave a presentation on the fort. So cool to see a video of it! I’ve always enjoyed my students from there as they are very friendly. Thank you for traveling there and giving us all a firsthand account of the UAE. I just found out another one of my Facebook friends is moving to the UAE. I’m envious! It seems like a great place to live and work. Happy New Year! 🎊 👍🏼✌🏼
Been wondering about traveling around this area sometime in the future. Seems like a great place to go and explore something new. Nice video!
I remember you were in a seaside town in Morocco for New Years 2017. Have a happy one!

Cool, looking forward to it.
Wow amazing country :-)
Thanks for the video. I've been kinda "homesick". I lived in Al Ain from 2012 - 2015. Some of the best years of my life. I'm looking forward to going back in 2020/2021 for World Expo.
@Mark Railton Hey man! We had some great times over there!
I grew up here from 1980 to 1987, it was a very different place. A very small city and mostly desert. I remember there was a park called dolphin park.
Happy new year Gab!!! Good luck on your future travels and I hope you make lots of money! 😁
Thanks, and same to you on everything you said!
Happy New Year's Eve!❤

I live in al ain and it’s awesome
Great video Gabriel happy new year 🎊 to you as well...hope to see your videos in 2018
Happy New Year Gabriel. Hopefully you were able to enjoy the celebrations in Dubai. Good luck with the camera hopefully you will be able to resolve that. Safe travels.
Thanks and Happy New Year! Yes the celebrations in Dubai were pretty cool.
Gabriel Traveller,
Happy New Year to you. Noting your comments on the heat in summer in these parts, I read somewhere recently that the record high in Dubai was 64 degrees Celsius. I am sure that similar high temperatures would be experienced all through the UAE. Perhaps not 64 but nevertheless very high often well into the 50's. It would be very difficult to go outside. I wonder if the cities close down when it gets too extreme.
Keep up the great work. I always look forward to something new from you.
Saloon is a South Asian term for a barber's shop. It's different from the Western saloon. In some places sedan class cars are also known as Saloon.
It must be a misspelling of salon though, because it's so close. Unless it's a native Indian word in some language, but seems like it must be intended to be salon.
Yes. It looks like a misspelling caused it. :)
The word comes from the French word 'salon', originally meaning living room. And through history 'saloon' became another spelling. It's not a misspelling of anything. French has a long history and influence in the world, so just the same way saloon ended up meaning that kind of drinking establishment in the US, other parts of the world made own versions of the word through French influence. It's just like English is very influential today with new words in foreign languages being created based on the English word. This word used in the UAE will have nothing do with the US use of the word.
I see, makes sense. I would have thought it would have been related to English, since the English language is so much more prominent than French in India. But maybe it came from the French presence in Pondicherry? Who knows, it's quite possible the exact origins are indeterminable at this point.
Yeah I agree with that, exact origins are difficult to say especially so long after the word was first used.
love your vlogs. Happy new year!
Thanks a lot, appreciate it. Happy New Year!
happy new year to you
Happy new Year Gabriel, thanks fo all the vlogs in 2017, keep them coming in 2018...BTW going to purchase on of your tee's. All the best! Would be awesome if you could travel to downunder one day !
Thanks, Happy New Year and thanks for grabbing one of the shirts!
Looks so clean compared to some of the Indian footage a few weeks ago with all the rubbish in the streets, etc. Great to hear people are helpful and hospitable. Cheers!
What to expect in an Indian work 😂😂😂
Happy new year GM!
Happy New Year!
Sunat Jadidat Saeida! Yes! Very kempt. By the way when do we get to see you wear one of those white "dresses". As in Rome do as the Romans do. Hmm! You'd look familiar while wearing one like someone born about 2017 years ago. definitely the same demeanor. Great cinematography as usual.
You mean Roman's New Year. The Creators is in the spring time. O the fish we saw that were white with stripes are called sergeant fish because of the stripes. Peace:)
Good luck on the Sony camera exchange situation - hope you come out on top with that one. In any case, the GoPro 6 is just truly amazing. I feel like I'm walking right next to you, and experiencing the place with you.
Awesome, great to hear.
Happy New Year Gabe, nice video.
Thanks David, Happy New Year in return.

Gabriel Traveler thank you so much will be ordering one today btw awesome video I just love your channel☺️
UAE is such a clean country
I lived in Al Ain (my second favorite city in the WORLD!) for a little less than 7 months in 2009-10, and this video was a very pleasant trip down memory lane. Although I realize that your intention was to give an overall impression of the city, it would have been nice if you had done some filming in Al Ain, Jimmi, and Bawadi malls. THEN, this video would have really satisfied my nostalgia for that wonderful city (along with a nice walk on lovely Khalifa street!). By the way, I also stayed at the Almasa hotel the first week of my stay in Al Ain until I was transferred to my very nice efficiency (STUDIO) on the Mrabaa. Great video, and many thanks!
I 've been watching your series on Emirates...I passed through Abu Dhabi over 20 years ago On my way to Goa India and thought i need to come back here. Unfortunately I've never made it back...🤔Not sure why, i guess the idea of Dubai and all its glitz is very unappealing ...but you are really selling the Emirates to me right now🤣🤯 ...Lockdown due to covid has transformed me into a caged Lioness 🐱 Thank you for the escape you provide
Sabrina X
love that beat they were playing. Are you going to go to slightly dangerous places like Afghanistan Syria, ..Damascus would be interesting?
I also live in Alain 3 years . It’s Beautiful city
Very interesting place and very clean city. Gabe with all the places you have been in the world it's not like you could ever go to Nebraska anymore and think thats cool...
Hey Gabriel, I know you've mentioned some in videos before but I can't seem to find them. What are some of your favorite websites for booking travel? My wife and I are planning a trip to Koh Pi Pi and the surrounding area next Oct/Nov. Thanks for your help, and as always, keep the videos coming. Thanks, Dan
Happy new year
Thanks, Happy New Year, it's 2018 now in the UAE.
Seems like a good idea for a CSGO new map, Al aon seem like a good familly friendly place.
Sandals fit right in Gabe, like when the Creator told Moshe to slip off his sandals the ground being Holy:)
Any plans on going swimming in any of the caves in Oman? I know Oman has some pretty cool spots for swimming. That would be so cool to see.
Sounds cool, I'll see.
Good work Gabriel, the new GoPro 6 is so much better than the other cameras and the fish eye is hardly there, looks great!!
Sweet, glad to hear it.
I LOVE AL AIN.... I LOVE UAE 🇦🇪🇦🇪🇮🇳🇮🇳❤❤❤
Merlons Battlements on walls are native Arabian peninsular style, other is step 'tapered' merlon, the arab brought step merlon into Morocco, Spain, Portugal, and Algeria. one example is Marid castle and Zaabal Sakakah castle in Saudi Arabia. they are many example Castle or Fort wall merlons in UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi that similar to that.
Very informative,your blogs
Thank you
The hottest month in the region is Augest. So I asked my dad why does it get so hot, I don't understand the weather. He said he thankful without the hottest month the dates on our palm trees won't be ready to pick up.
Never complain about the weather again. And my father is badween, who has a small farm in the oasis of Lewa desert. Not many tourists come to lewa, even if they do it's rare for us to see them because of the size of Liwa (its Lewa in google..)
Nice video 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi Gabe!
Happy New Year!
What exactly did you mean by your comment about the smell of lighter fluid?
Lighter fluid is used to light the charcoal for barbecues. People were barbecuing in the park.
I will live in al ain forever
awsome

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Al Ain is where I live, please do checkout my channel. ❤
I am glad that you mentioned how we are forced to form ideas about things, places and people these days without realizing it. from outside it's "democracy' as they say, but in reality, we can't form our own free opinions anymore. And the sad fact is people who control media and all the 'information' business decide what we think. great video Gabriel and feels the picture quality is better as well. is the the new sony camera you filmed this one on? that's too bad about the issue u havin with stabilisation though :(
This was all filmed with the new GoPro 6, except the one little clip of the magician.
Thanks
Great video,
great great picture, beautiful work editing your videos
You should work for the travel channel
Anthony
Cool, thanks a lot.
Great video and very nice clean laid back city. I don't think i would want to live there because it seems very strict plus im a beer lover.
Yeah alcohol is hard to find, but it can be found. You'll see a beer in my next video in Dubai.
well done
I really miss the place... Al ain simple place to live in...
So are we going to see you wearing a thawb before you leave the UAE?
Hmmmmmm...probably not. I guess we'll see.
