      One of my first installations I mounted the BT module in the Stereo. Worked well but I had poor range. I took the module out and mounted it on top of my receiver.. Much better range (just a few feet, but no more cutting out when I move from room to room)

  • @xaenon

    I did something almost identical to this with my antique (1967) Magnavox console stereo. However, my setup adds a stage to address an irritating problem I have with many portable devices - a noticeably weaker audio signal when compared to other audio sources, like a tape deck, CD player, tuner, or record player. To deal with this, I've added a TEC TC780-LC line level booster between the Bluetooth module and the AUX (tape-in) connections of the stereo. Both the Bluetooth receiver and thd line booster are powered from a switched AC outlet I wired in. Not the most elegant solution, but both the BT receiver and the line booster are installed on the back panel of the stereo, hidden from view but easily accessible. There are no permanent modifications; the external hardware can be removed and the internal modifications can be reversed easily, all in less than an hour.

    I recently purchased an Ifi Zen blue, blue tooth DAC for $129 , not as cheap as the unit you are talking about. If you are concerned with sound Quality this unit is a good choice. Gives you all the bluetooth codecs and get really good quality sound 32 bit 96khz . And I use the same Samsung Galaxy S7. Sound detailed without all this wiring hassle.

I recently bought a gadget to make my HD TV bluetooth. It actually works two bluetooth headphones simultaneously. And, the sound is crisp, but it’s not in stereo! Hopefully your technique will accomplish that for my classic receiver as well as for my 10+ yrs Sony STR-DE197.

I can select and play songs without a problem but no volume. I have to use the stereo itself for volume. The stereo has an aux setting and red and white rca connections in the back. My question is...will I have better luck using a bluetooth transmitter rather than the bluetooth that came with the stereo? Will it be a stronger signal in some way?

      I would not use BT for what you want to do. IMO, I would take audio from your tv, and plug into an AUX or Tape input to your receiver.
      You will need a 3.5nn to RCA cord to do this. Plug the mini 3.5 jack to your tv's audio output and plug the male RCA's into a AUX or Tape in. Doing it this way will give you MUCH better audio..... BB23

      I find them at goodwill, I look for actiontec AC adapters used for modems. They are built to have a heavy strain put on them. The bluetooth units are very low strain and so the AC adapter will darn near last forever.

    Good video. I am glad JL came out with their own. I love JL. I have a 67 Impala and I am totally revamping the Audio system. I am running 4 amps (about a dozen speakers) NO HEAD UNIT. I am custom fab'ing a tablet into the dash and will Bluetooth all the audio from the tablet to the amps. I don't listen to FM. Like you, I am a talk radio nut. I only listen to one talk radio. The Ticket in Dallas. You should check it out. I hate radio stations on FM. No one should listen the them anymore unless you listen to talk radio. The Ticket had their own app so I will just listen to them on their app (SportDay Talk w/1310TheTIcket < you should check them out). I personally use CZcams Music and whatever that doesn't have, Amazon prime music does. The tablet will act as a streaming music/talk radio apps, video if I want to, AND since I will be using a Samsung tablet, it will have bad ass google maps app instead of crappy head unit GPS. Not to mention tablet screens are so much bigger, clearer, smoother touch screen, and simpler to wire up than a head unit. Head unit might have about a dozens wires where as a tablet is literally a power wire that will always be plugged in. the audio will be Bluetooth so no need to jack with that. Thanks for this simple video. Thumbs up!

    Forget brand, get one that has APTx (BT 4.2 or higher). Playback device must ALSO support APTx . Next up in quality is APTx HD. The Sound quality increase is immense. Almost acceptable for an Audiophile!

    great stuff. could a person add a bluetooth range extender like the miccus rtx 2.0 to this setup? Also...in an outdoor setting, how far would the range be with and without a range extender.thanks

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Před 4 lety

      Yes the RTX would be a good choice for the long range you want. Guaranteed range through wall etc ? NO. Every home is different because of walls wiring and so on. Still worth a try.
      Real easy to hook up, basically the same way as in this video except the AC adapter plugs in the unit and makes a simpler install.
      Cheers.

    I have an old Sony reciever with surround sound. I see you selected the Karmon as the best selection for adding bluetooth. Does this come with the AC or do I have to add the 12v as you described in the video. I am searching for the best way to add bluetooth without buying new systems. The two I have work great but as you said I've completely moved from cassette and cds. There are a few of each still around in attic but the players are gone. Thank you for the video and explanation.

    The best one is a Phillips unit that has optical out, APTx, and a nice DAC. It costs 30 bucs. I did it years ago. Cheers
