You know I always talk about Elvis in the present, at times it’s like I can “feel” him near me. (Ye I know ppl will think I’m crazy) but then Elvis has been my ONLY friend for a long time in my life- in a way he took care of me when no one else would. I’m on my own spiritual path now, so Elvis is still encouraging me to Look to God for help. Mindi always manages to say what I need to hear. Strange.

Thank you so very much for this wonderful interview.
This is the first time I have ever heard Mindy speak about her relationship with Elvis and it was the best interview I have ever heard. Definitely kindred spirits. Listening to these precious memories and hearing about the level of spirituality is so special to me. It doesn't get discussed in this depth very much and I appreciate Mindy sharing her spiritual experiences with Elvis so much.
I also have seen most of my best friends and had instant knowing that they were significant to me and we would know one another and be friends.
Listening to Mindy reminds me so much of my friendship with someone who was well known in the Australian music industry. That feeling she had of Elvis the person and Elvis the performer is something I really relate to.
Also that kind of spiritual journey... so many things throughout this interview were either making my eyes water or giving me chills down my left side.
Mindy I hope more than anything you do write your book and include more details of your life and your spiritual journey because I definitely would love to read about it all. I know you have the highest integrity and that your book would be truly special and worth reading.
I would love a list of the books that Elvis found interest in and that you read together. I do hope if you write your book that will be in it and some details of what was underlined and why... I suppose that is really it's own book. I hope you would consider sharing that. I feel that would honour Elvis in a way he would find deeply meaningful and you really are the only one able to do it.
    Thank you. ❀

A little perspective might be helpful ~ Elvis could have picked up the phone and made the call. There is some enormous dysfunction in this scenario - to understand that in this constellation nothing gets done unless his entourage does it. It is wonderful to remember Elvis and treasure the time. But it sounds like a huge price was paid to have the privilege of being with him.

Just reading the comments here. Why do people INSIST on focusing on the NEGATIVE about Elvis all the time. What just because he liked things a certain way, insisted on girlfriends being a certain way so that makes him bad does it!!!! Elvis should be accepted the way he was as and if people insist on just seeing the negative of his personality then YOU need to just BOG off! Ok maybe he was flawed in how he thought sometimes but that’s no reason to always point a judgmental FINGER!!

I have been diving into Elvis lately since I read Priscilla's book wanting to know more who he was. I have enjoyed all your interviews so far, because you ask great questions and let the people talk about their experiences. Mindy is a really good story teller about her life and her life with Elvis. So glad she has let people know that part of who Elvis was. The more I hear or read about different peoples experiences with him I am able to piece together parts that are more of the truth. I do Believe Mindys time with him. It was nice to hear her acknowledgment that she wasn't the only person in his life and she didn't know it at the time. I am finding it amazing that so many women felt they were the only person he truly loved because that is the way he made them feel. Mindy explained it so well in part one, that when he talked to you he made you feel like you were the only one in the room that mattered to him and he really listened. Thank you for the interview.

So kind of you Mindi to share your time with Elvis. I'm really sorry you didn't get a couple of good pics with him, as any couple would. Lord knows there's a ton of them with him and Linda, why he wouldn't allow you a couple pics. Have his people take the pic and give it to you. That just bugs me. I'm glad you two connected on so many levels, and we're at the heart of it true friends not just romantic.
I always wanted to be friends with him, thought we would be good friends. But I'm blonde ( or was) and very pale and without my make up, yeah I look quite different. I'm not from the south so that would have been an interesting conundrum.
Mindi, you are just as important as Elvis, as anyone. Remember he taught you that. He's not the only important one. Though yes the man was crazy gifted and was a gift to mankind. I can only imagine how hard that must have been to be him and remain humble.
I'm so very sorry you didn't get the call and get to be with him . I'm guessing the person you dated in the past that was the issue was black. Going by what you said how it wouldn't have seemed acceptable in the south in those days. Silly reason to break up. Sad.
Bless you Mindi in all your endeavors. 💜

What makes you think he got everything he wanted? That's very far from the truth. He had a lot of material success but that didn't last, and it didn't save his mother from an early death. He became a movie star but never got the kind of roles he wanted, never got to show the kind of acting talent he had. He came to hate doing those awful movies and singing those stupid songs for the soundtracks. He was so frustrated by it that it literally made him sick. He wanted to tour the world but never left the US, and it left him profoundly sad. He never got to do a serious movie and he regretted that to the very end, and told people he never did a movie worth remembering, and it broke his heart. He suffered with terrible pain from his illnesses but continued to perform even when he was so sick he should have been in a hospital. Why do you think he self-destructed? He had real medical problems and wanted to stop touring and rest, but he needed the money and never did get to rest.

I noticed that Elvis preferred women who are not only beautiful but very intelligent and well spoken as you are Mindi. What really cuts at the heart is the way he’s spoken of like he’s some kind of a God. It really hit home when you said he is important we are not important-the way you pointed up I thought you were talking about the Lord. Sheer idol worship and very sad. It’s OK to love someone but let’s face it he was a very imperfect man. I do not believe he treated any of his women well because when you cheat on a woman you really degrade her whether she’s willing to put up with it or not. He made good music but his selfishness and pride took over his life. It takes humility to reach out for help. I think he was just dead set on staying popular. He got his wish, but where is he now? The difference between spirituality and having a heart for the God of the Bible is the ability to understand and repent of sin. I did not see any of that in his life and for that I am very sad. People need to stop worshiping him. He was just a man, and certainly not worthy of all that praise. Only one is worthy and that’s Jesus.

But he never talked about anything private between the women he was with, and himself. And neither is Mindy talking about intimate things. She is a class act unlike Priscilla who felt the need to tell on national TV intimate details that I think would have hurt Elvis. All the wonderful things he did for others, the amazing generosity he demonstrated to so many others, his love of God and singing spirituals proclaiming that love, all of that cancels out his human frailty.

With the last bit on the segment about loving someone unconditionally, even though they cheat, and that's what it IS, CHEATING! That is not love for you! You do not cheat on the one you love!
And that is extremely sad that she can say she loved him unconditionally to allow him to cheat on her, but he did not love her in return
I don't care what anyone says, you don't cheat on somebody you love! Whether they allow it or not. "Staying with someone just to have them" is honestly pretty desperate when there are people out there that will return love and be on an equal level With you and not expect all of this stuff out of you while they are allowed to go do whatever.
That's actually pretty sad to want somebody so bad that you will allow them to use you and be double standard hypocrite and control you and tell you to do certain things, yet they can do whatever they want.
That is not Love, no matter what anybody wants to fool themselves to think.
I can't help but feel people only put up with this, just to say they dated Elvis and try to stay with him the longest

And again it's baffling to see somebody who is into religion and spirituality, say that some people just aren't a one woman man
That's utterly ridiculous. Some people just want to have it all and use their fame fortune and looks and talents to get it
there is no such thing as anybody that's "not made for one woman", that's just ridiculous. What it comes down to is CHOICE!
Whatever happened to religious people and saying God wants you to stay away from temptation etc. etc. But again people cherry pick things just to make themselves feel better

Had he chosen to be a faithful and loyal and fair and equal man to his partner, now THAT would have made him the perfect man and THAT much more respectable!

That's really unfortunate that that's why/how they broke up. I know it's perplexing for us to fathom in 2022 why her dating a black man (i'm assuming Fred Williamson) was a concern for him or how he thought it could damage his career. I understand that he grew up in the segregated south and had seen and experienced both sides of the tracks and I know that there were deeply held beliefs that a woman who had been with a black man was considered a "whore" or unclean. But... it was '76! It wasn't the 50s.
I agree with her though, I think it had a lot to do with insecurity more so than perception. I mean his best friend was dating Myrna Smith and supposedly he approved of their relationship. It must have been an insecurity or psychological thing that he could not get past. Which is a real shame. Maybe if they stayed together he'd still be with us.

oooohhhh love talking about this kind of thing with other fans. I totally agree. The psychology is fascinating! I agree with you regarding what he was searching for, but even when he found it he had character flaws and self-destructive tendencies that prevented him from allowing himself to settle into a solid and secure relationship (some of which was reinforced by the era, by his beliefs, by family/Memphis mafia, culture and stardom).
Also, I think he was a habitual seeker. I think he, as you mentioned, he needed the security of a nurturing woman by his side to replace his mother, but even when he found it, he still sought others to relieve the monotony of his insulated life and to have back-ups in case his “steady” left him or couldn’t be there.
But what I’m most fascinated by, is why he dropped Mindi Miller for dating a black guy in her past. The psychology of that peaks my interest. Because we know he went through his civil rights obsession, he was examining his own biases and prejudices, and having a racial awakening. He started practically chasing the black female entertainers in his orbit- Darlene love, Barbara McNair, Myrna Smith (still only ones who measured up to his desires for innocence/feminine/submissive/nurturing women) to date himself around ‘68 on, was living with intention when it came to his personal choices and position as a white man in the world. Which is commendable, but appropriate for that generation during the time.
BUT, with this knowledge and knowing that he cut things off because she dated a black man (which she’s confirmed in other interviews), I’m trying to rationalize the reason. Was it ego/pride/insecurities like she suggested? Was it his image (I’m starting to suspect it might have been)? Was it personal prejudices? Was it all of the above? Did he work through them? It’s just just interesting.

@@mindimiller9786Hello there. I'm sorry I cannot know with any certainty whether you truly are Mindi Miller. We are all actually anonymous on any social media platform. As a result, people can say the most obnoxious things and can call themselves whatever they like, I must say some of the names can be quite amusing. Anything from famous people's names to animated fictional characters.
Anyway, I can only say this,..... if you are truly Mindi Miller then I thank you for your kind and courteous response. I must say it certainly clarifies a few things, because as much as I liked Linda Thompson, I have been told by others more in the know, that Linda at times has not been entirely honest with her whole story.
Whoever you may be dear, have a lovely day. Mindi Miller or not.
