The racing theme so many people have asked for! I took it more in an old-timey cartoon direction and included ukulele/saxes as the rhythmic driving force. Also... what better instrument to run away from than the Alto Clarinet!? Enjoy đ

đ Runaway Theme -- âą Thomas & Friends - Run...
đ” Cover by Luke Pickman -- / instrumentmaniac
#TTTE #ThomasandFriends #Runaway - Hudba
âPoor Luke was playing the ukulele faster than he had ever played it before. He was out of breath and his arms hurt him, but he had to go on. âI shall never be the same again,â he thought sadly. âMy arms will be quite worn out.â â
It was worth it! Great job! :D
We see what you did there!đ
We saw what you did indeed
We see what u did there.. very clever indeed.
OO-HOO-HOO, WHAT A JOKE!
Very smart đ
Also known by Parents as âThe theme their children sing before smashing their trains togetherâ.
LOL
LOL
Thatâs funny, I used to like crash my trains
đ TOO TRUE! I remember doing that with my Trackmaster/Playrail Toys!
My fav to smash was James and fuel tankers prbly bc I had no tar wagons
As a childhood Thomas fanatic listening through refined adult ears, the runaway theme is a perfect composition I can wax lyrical about. The escalating panic of those opening high notes, the frantic pace throughout, the despair of the main melody, the little fills and riffs that act like gasps and short breaths, and the ominous key changes throughout. And yeah, this is a top notch rendition!
Agreed! M&J had such a knack for writing these musical vignettes. Thanks for watching!
The whole show is a masterpiece when you think about it. Large scale train set, terrain, special effects, and a unique soundtrack that stays true to the time period they portraying. And then add Ringo Star to the 1st season.
The atmospheric music has definitely something that has been lost with Thomas

âThe trucks chance had come...â âHurrah! Hurrah!â âThey laughed and banging their buffers they pushed James down the hill.â âON ON ON!â âYelled the trucks.â *âIve got to stop! Ive got to stop!â* âGroaned James...â
"Look here Percy, whatever is that dirty object?"
You got it!
@Ethan Schmid "It has James' shape alright, But it isn't James! You see, James is a Splendid Red Engine, and you never see his paint dirty!"
Mann years later my mind still hears that hurrah hurrah in the narrators voice
@@wookiebear514 same here
I'm ridiculously excited for this!
"Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah! We've broken away, we've broken away. Chase him, bump him, throw him off the rails!"
âAs fast as we can, then theyâll catch us gradually!â
The driver was gaining control.
âAnother clear mile and weâll do it!â
@Ethan Schmid "It's up to YOU now, Duck!" cried the driver!
DUCK PUT EVERY OUNCE OF WEIGHT AND STEAM AGAINST THE TRUCKS! They felt his strength AND SURGED FORWARDS! âON ON ON ON ON ON!â the last coach passed the platform. âITS TOO LATE!â He cried. And shut his eyes. He felt a sudden swerve and slid shuddering and groaning along a siding.
@Ethan Schmid oof.
And I love the RWS books. Theyâre so full of energy
âTheyâre pushing me theyâre pushing me!â
âOn on on!â
Pretty impressed. You always know some shit is about to go down when this music starts.
Also impressive to think how they built an entire upscaled train set, terrain, and special effects to film everything.
so much love went into this show!
The sets weren't actually connected. They were all individual.
I love how it gets more intense as the theme goes on
itâs as if thereâs more trouble waiting ahead at any moment and there was
Glad that translated through the music!
"Hurry Duck hurry!" Said the driver. They raced through Edward's station, but the cars were catching up. "As fast as we can, then they'll catch us gradually," he said. The driver was gaining control. "Another clear mile and we'll do it." "Oh glory! Look at that!" James was just pulling out on their line from the station ahead, any minute there could be a crash. "It's up to you now Duck." Cried the driver. Duck put every ounce of weight and steam against the cars. "It's too late!" Duck groaned. He veered into a siding where a barber had set up shop, he was shaving a customer. The silly cars had knocked the conductor off of his van and left him far behind, after he had whistle the warning, but the cars didn't care they were feeling very pleased with themselves.
âSo, the âOld Ironâ caught you after allâ
That's all right chuckled edward

Lively. As. Sin. Also I for one could never have foreseen how well a ukelele would gel with the music style of classic Thomas. This is nothing short of delightful.

This would be awesome. My son loves the first and second album. And this is currently his favorite. đ

Yay cannot wait for this! This music always gave me chills as a child. âAnother clear mile and we'll do it. Oh, glory, look at that!â James was just pulling out on they're line through the station ahead. Any minute, there could be a crash! âIt's up to you now, Duck.â Could you do Rustyâs theme next?? â€ïž
If Thomas and Friends was an old Silent Movie:
ITS FINALLY HERE! Remember when I posted the comment about The Runaway Theme?
I love how the runaway theme sounds a bit like the breakdown train theme sped up.
James: "EEEEEEEEEEE"
Iâm honestly quite afraid if youâll be actually alive after this Luke lol. Though I am extremely excited, Iâd love to see you try at Spencerâs theme or Murdochâs theme. theyâre already good as is but you just make these themes better and better.
This is probably the most athletic one I've recorded to date. If you watch the sax section I'm gasping for breath at the end đ

Im looking forward to another good Thomas arrangement! Especially this one thatâs called runaway!! âYAY!!!...........â đ
Yes, thank you!!! I'm so excited!
When I think about how much effort goes into these and the lengths you've gone to in making these, not to mention how frequently you've made them, I am just in disbelief! You are truly incredible! A one man Orchestra! (Also a lovely dancer) I really can't express just how in awe I am over this amazing amount of work. I can't wait to hear what you do next!
P.S. I really look forward to getting a vol. 3 of this!!
Wow thanks for the kind words Tiernan! It's been tricky to keep up with these but I'll try to stay weekly as long as possible đ
yeeees i requested this, in my mind this its going to be perfect.

Now this. This is gonna be one of the best
That piccolo playing is so good! Really evokes a sense of urgency. As does the uke, surprisingly.
Also love how all of the wind instruments make this mournful train whistle sound at the end.
Such a great arrangement!
Thanks Gabriel!
Love the music dude! Itâs been helping me get through the school day
Glad to hear Brett, thanks for listening!
Relatable
the later half of this when S3 instruments were used is so addictive to listen too. â€â€

I can't wait to hear your arrangement of the runaway theme! I like all the versions, but I think the versions using the William Tell Overture are particularly recognisable, especially since it brings back fond memories of episodes like The Runaway Elephant, Rheneas and the Roller Coaster, Busy Going Backwards, as well as Thomas the Jet Engine, just to name a few.
I love the references Mike and Junior include to other classical greats!
"Suddenly, James began going faster and faster. He realized that he had no driver! 'What shall I do? I can't stop! Help! Heeeelp!'"
"We're coming! We're coming!" called Edward.
Edward pound up with every ounce of steam he had until he finally caught up with James
"'Steady, Edward!' called his driver. The inspector stood on Edward's front holding a noose of rope in the crook of the shunter's pole. He was trying to slip it over James' buffer."
Two words: well done
I would understand if you need a breather after this one. I'm out of breath just watching!
Right!? đ
I can't wait
POV: The orchestra whenever train is runaway
Honestly the runaway theme from Season 5-6 is a lot more thrilling
Ah yes, the universal song of trouble on the Island of Sodor, lol. Your cover starts out a bit slower than the original theme, but then it quickly picks up speed. Great fun to listen to as always!
That's what I was hoping for! You can't start out too fast or else the song has no where to go after awhile đ
I need To say Something... THIS MUSIC IS SO PERFECT OH MY GOD
Great sax groove goin' on in this one!
Thanks Scott! I forgot how well soprano and alto work together
Oh I love all these, Edwardâs themes is the best but I have them all swirling around in my head. Things you remember from childhood đ
Love the escalation throughout to the frenetic pace at the end. Bravo!
Glad to hear nico!
I never thought that an exciting choo choo theme would work
with a FLIPPING UKULELE-
Instrument combinations are crazy!
Iâll use this in my head in order to engage a speed mindset!
Seeing some of the comments I'm very very concerned about Luke's Health after this
đđ
Although I've always remembered Mavis's theme with the stringed instruments playing in the background.
I can see why James is a runaway in the thumbnail . He panicking about the bee sting on his nose again.

I really like this theme, but I also like George's theme ;)
Do the Donald and douglas theme but with the bag pipes

"I hear music!" said Duck's driver "But we haven't an assemble!" replied duck. "HORRORS!" said Duck as a brakevan full of clones of Luke playing the runaway theme are going 50 MPH right to him!
One of my favorite episodes with this theme was âOld Ironâ. It was always fun seeing the high-speed chase with Edwardâs driver trying to attach a rope onto James to slow him down. I always remember the line âit swayed and lurchedâ with the rope swinging around Jamesâ buffers!
You made a really great rendition the theme đđ
That's a fantastic scene!
I watched that scene too but forgot the line lol, around 9 yrs old I watched it
Finally!! Looking forward to this banger!
Thomas: *sees that the power of Lukeâs music is coming towards him* AHHHH!
I think it was my request Plus we finally get to see the runaway theme
We didn't quite kill him, so we gotta do better at choosing next time.
Another wonderful grand adaptation that I have to say I probably struggled the most with. I think the arrangement is absolutely tops and what it gives me is the sense of ridiculous comedy that these runaway scenes can yield (the Ukulele gives me panicked Banjo Kazooie or Silent era film vibes). However that raw, primal nostalgic core memory of being absolutely terrified as a wee babe watching these runaway scenes overpower my want to appreciate these unique twist. So emotionally I want to be terrified by this music and the opposite emotion is elicited. I think this fantastically brave and itâs more about me as a listener and my own personal agenda than your fabulous work. But it gives me a great appreciation for how challenging it is for an artist to interpret a work, meet audience expectations but also put their own stamp. Keep it up!!
Totally! I think you hit the nail on the head with what I was going for. It's serious situations for the characters... but it's also adults running model trains out of control and filming the whole thing.
It's nice to thematically break the 4th wall sometimes đ
Amazing song cover! I can really tell that you've put an astronomical amount of effort before the song even finished.
Thanks a ton Jonah!

Superb! I felt the energy exploding!
Lighting McQueen's:what exploding?
The snare drums with the brush is a good touch makes me think of the pistons of the trains pushing them along the tracks.
Troublesome trucks : This is where the fun begins
I love how you put an extended theme into this
Absolutely stunning performance!!! My wrists were hurting just looking at the ukulele speed lol
Haha right!? I never want to play that fast again jesus đ
James: What shall I do?! I can't stop! HELP! HELP!
Edward: We're coming! We're coming!
I am so glad I tactfully took my break to watch this. Also, RIP, Luke's arms and lungs.
RIPPPPPP đ thank you!

I love how the Alto Clarinet was the melody of this arrangement. Great job Luke!
Thanks Marty, we need more Alto representation!

Also carry on the story If you know the RWS version. And Carry it on with the *RWS version.*
Duck loved coasting down the hill, running easily with the wind whistling past.
He hummed a little tune.
Suddenly they heard a guards whistle.
âThat sounds like a guards whistle, but we havenât a guard.â
The driver heard it too and looked back.
âHURRY DUCK HURRY, THEREâS BEEN A BRAKE-AWAY AND SOME TRUCKS ARE CHASING US!â
As a fellow sax player I felt your pain as you gasped for air lmaoo

Oh yeah this is going to sound amazing. I don't think there were themes in season 7 that were new so season 8-12 themes would be the themes I will be waiting for during 2021.

Thank you so much for doing this one!! I remember the Toby scene with this music used to keep me on the edge of my seat as a kid! I legit thought he was going to fall off that bridge. And James is always being pushed by those darn freight cars!
Thank you for sharing! Be well, and stay safe. â€đ
