The acids evaporate within hours after cutting for hay. So hay is safe for all.
You were saying there were two drawbacks but I’m only hearing one (toxicity) ... what’s the other?
The two issues were (1) nitrate and (2) prussic acid poisoning. I believe I did not express it in the most assertive way. Also, keep it in mind that Johnsongrass is not an option for feeding horses. It can cause damage to the spinal cord and problems with innervations to the bladder and hind end. This video says that hairs where leaf meets the stem = Guinea grass. Your video says hairs = Johnson.
