  • In our first Trail Tuesday video we bring you along on our first bikepacking adventure on our ‪@SalsaCyclesOfficial‬ Journeyman! We toured Pisgah National Forest on a Sub-24 hour overnight route. The route can be found on our friend Greg's company webpage here~ rockgeist.com/routes/roll-call/
You can even pull the route up on Ride with GPS for turn by turn directions if you'd like. It was a blast getting out in the forest and spending time with friends we haven't seen for awhile (since Covid hit). I even pull out ‪@EverythingsBeenDone‬ 's "Tell me about your bike" bit to show off Roya's new Salsa Vaya. Her Instagram can be found here~ / royanezarati
If you are looking for bikepacking bags, we cannot recommend Rockgeist more! Check them out!~ rockgeist.com/

    Thanks for watching!

What a beautiful area. Completely different then the dusty trails we're used to out here! This video got me itching to get out and ride.

Glad to hear it! Definitely a goal to inspire people to get out! 😊 Pisgah is such a beautiful area, definitely suggest it if you get to NC! 🙌🏻

Glad you guys liked it! Next time you make it back, we'll have to go on a similar adventure! Mars is great! We hope to bring our dogs on adventures like this in the future! We just figured we were too out of shape to try it in this trip! 😂

What a great video, thanks for putting in the effort. I'm looking to do a 2-3 day BikePack trip around that area, TN,SC,NC,GA, let me know if you are planning a trip in March 2021, would love to come along.

Thank you! We don't have anything planned as of yet but I'm itching to get on the bike out in the mountains! Do you live in the SE?

Watching the dude pull the dog trailer at 5:17 was hilarious. Nice looking ride though.

Haha! Tough going with the Tail Wagon trailer. We've been thinking of getting the Burley Coho XC trailers to bring our dogs in the future! It only has one wheel for easier singletrack riding.
It was a great ride, can't suggest enough checking Pisgah out if you come through Western NC! 🙌🏻

I loved this video. You're friends are awesome. So jelly. Do you think I could do this route on a Giant Cotend AR with 38c riddlers? I just recently put the gravel tires on it and have done two little trail rides. I'm in love. Not sure how technical the route in the video is, but I've run some stuff that the bike surprised me on. I'm wanting to do some bike packing. I live in middle Tennessee. I'm very familiar with east Tennessee and western North Carolina. I would love to do this route. Thanks. Amazing video.

Thank you! It was a fun one to film! I think the Contend is a very similar bike to our Salsa Journeyman’s. We had larger tires on but Roya’s were pretty close to your riddlers. Much of this route was gravel and your bike would be perfect for it. Some of the single track we got on would be up to your confidence level on the bike but I bet you would be fully capable If you’ve been taking it on single track already. None of the route was too technical. Hill climbs were probably the hardest part.
There is a lot of great bike packing in the area too. Greg has some great resources and is based on Asheville (www.rockgeist.com). Also check out www.bikepacking.com. Lots of route information and gear info. They also have a CZcams channel with gear reviews and introduction info. If you like Podcasts you should also check out Bikes or Death. He has some cool guests and lots of fun stories. (Www.bikesordeath.com). Let me know if you have other questions for me. I love that you are wanting to get into it!

I ride Salem Lake a lot as well. I live about a mile from there. Good place to get some exercise.

This looks like a blast dude! One of these days I’m going to get a good bike and join ya! I’ve always wanted to do some bike packing. I think the bike I currently have would disintegrate though!

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  Před 3 lety

Yea man! It is an awesome activity! And you have so much amazing mountain biking so close to you. World renowned even! Mtbs can be dang expensive. There are shops near you that if you rent bikes they'll put the rental fees towards a new bike in the future. For if you just want to dabble. For an all-road, gravel bike, the Salsa Journeyman is a pretty perfect and affordable option for when you are on the market for something. It's the bikes we did this trip on

Like the portion at the beginning of this video? We use Premiere Pro for our editing software. We just cut together different videos of us doing activities while doing a voice over. Or do you mean something else?

I just realized you may have been talking about our animated logo opening. I used Adobe Animate to make the rocks piling and boots/bike tire prints around it. I had never used the program before the logo so it was definitely a difficult first go but I think it turned out pretty cool. I may try and watch some tutorials to be able to update it in the future
