Be careful of the quality of wire connectors.

  • Thin wall connectors can get hot or break when using on heavy gauge wire and cause hidden resistance that can cause the load (starter etc.) to overheat or just not perform properly.

Hey Gordon! I enjoy all your truck repair content you make it make sense! Thank you.
As a general rule of thumb I like to go first and price shop against McMaster Carr® . Their online supply house, web page info and description is second to none .
And Yeah, like you talked about in your video you're going to get charged... royal .
    (Mc Master Carr® Two/Ought battery cable wire priced $9.45 a feet .
And your choice of 25 different choices of Heavy duty splices are right around $7 bucks to $9.oo dollars a piece .

Hi Gordon , good to hear from you . What I do is lace the strands like you said then squeeze so they're tight and wrap with bicycle tube piece which I glue . When set I seal with black silicone . Works great and after extended cranking I feel normal temp. Take care , Neil 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Been seeing a trend of late about the poor quality of automotive electrical components that are being shipped from china and sold on amazon and harbour freight. Could be other places to. Fuses and crimp connectors seem to have no regulations for quality control or standards. This needs to change before someone gets hurt or killed.

I just started looking for these lately as my supply last for years since I don't do this work very often, I'm still a full time driver. I just didn't know these butt connectors are so thin and the thick ones are not on Amazon. I will be looking into the suggestions of other commenters for these products.

I use Del City Wire Company in Wisconsin for electircal parts. Often they have sales for the best prices.

You can't get those at Harbor Freight?

Harbor might have something like that but I don't expect to find the quality I need to have. Home Depot will have better ones. Thanks for watching.

Good to hear from you again Adam. I'm glad to see your channel is doing so well, mine seems to be fading out as I only get about 1/3 to 1/2 the views and $ I used to get. I think it's a combination of a lot more channels out there doing what I do and most of them are not as boring to listen to as I am, also false click bait that I will never do. I would like to semi-retire in a couple years and then I can do a little more on CZcams than what I have time for now. Keep up the good work Adam.
