Hi there, my name is Precious Hanah and welcome to my internet diary. In 2017 I moved to Ghana from the UK and have been navigating life here in the motherland and loving it! I love culture, dance and travel. I'm currently finishing my MPHIL in Dance Ethnography, at the University of Ghana, researching Afrobeats and Afro Dance. Please stick around and enjoy this journey with me.

"we ourselves as diasporans do we like one another?" that is such a powerful quote that I agree with. We ourselves as diasporans for example in Europe (where I live as a Togolees) in my opinion don't support each other like I wish we would as black people in general. If we want change and a stronger unity, we need to start liking (supporting) ourselves first, if not there will always be division. I believe that change will come when we see that we're part of the future of our countries (continent) and are not helping that if we keep 'hating' each other and of course you'll never like everyone, but that's not always needed if you want to work on a business, build etc.
Great topic and vlog Hanah 👏🏾❤

I agree!! Well said!! Hmmm in the UK we are segregated from other Africans you know it wasn’t till I moved to Ghana I realised I don’t have Togolese friends! Or have been introduced to Togolese culture. Crazy! Togo is literally 4 hours from Accra and we are so similar in culture. These things, we as individuals just have to be willing to ‘cross the bridges’ and connect with people. And you know I’m willing 😅

@@PreciousHanah Right, it’s crazy sometimes how people can live so close in distance, but still be so far apart🫠 but like you said we need to start doing the work ourselves to see change!! That willingness is already a start to greatness 🤗 If I get the chance I would LOVE to be part of those events, conversations and meet more people that way…Truly love watching you living in Ghana and running a travel business (veryyy inspiring🙌🏾✨), it gives me so much perspective on how to navigate things one day back in Togo and the lifestyle chances I can expect, much more blessings to you🙌🏾

It sometimes feels like we can't win as diasporans being told we're not Ghanaian of 'Ghanaian enough' and then being blamed for not doing enough to help Ghana. I agree that we're like family that don't always get along. I also feel like some of the frustration had towards the politicians and Ghana's social and economic state is sometimes taken out on Ghanaian diasporans which I guess is fair sometimes because we can be so removed from it. But we also don't have a choice in the parents we were born to and where they chose to raise us and I feel like theres a need for both sides to learn to understand each others differences but also our many similarities
But I also believe that all of this is based on choice, the same way u rarely see or interact with certain family members is the same way u should have the freedom to choose here
