    Purchased and installed with a friend, As a basic DIY'er I can attest to this kit being incredibly complete and the instructions as good as they can possibly be. I literally needed nothing from the local car parts place. They have it configured down to the last zip tie. Application 2001 LS 6-Speed. Added the coolant reroute at the same time. Caught oil pressure and start from the first turn of the key. That's a rarety for my projects.

    You guys are the pinnacle of Miata parts and performance, always finding new ways to better all miatas. I'm wondering if you ever thought about trying to convert a 1989-1995 Miata obd1 to 1996 and up, to obd2? If so, how far did you get before scrapping the project?

      I'll answer this one by referencing our 1.8 swap instructions for NA6 owners. We suggest keeping all electronic parts and wiring on the NA6 chassis unless you're looking for a long, tedious project with little to no benefit. I know everyone has their reason for a certain mod but I'm not seeing a benefit on this one. What's your angle?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci

      That depends on how much you use the extra power. If you stay out of boost, it won’t change noticeably. If you’re using boost, you’re making more power and you will burn more fuel.

      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 6 měsíci

      We tested a lot of turbos when we first developed this kit, a long time ago, and haven't found a good reason to change the turbo yet. It has quick spool up and enough headroom for folks that want to run another engine management system. How would it simplify the install?

  • @1knowsnothing1
    @1knowsnothing1 Před 7 měsíci

    TLDW: Do the new manifolds allow fitment of other T25s like the Borg Warner? Or are they designed around the GT style turbos?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci

      All of our turbo kits are designed for genuine Garrett turbochargers - Garrett has always been our go-to choice for long-term reliability and power at a reasonable price.
      FWIW, our NA/NB and NC turbo manifolds do utilize the T2/T25 bolt pattern. Also, the turbine outlets we designed for our turbo kits utilize the standard 5-bolt Garrett turbine housing outlet bolt pattern.

    For a 00 miata with a stock bp4w, if i install this kit along with a squaretop intake manifold, will the voodoo box accomodate it?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci +3

      It should. Our turbo squaretop testing was on a 350 hp engine, and the squaretop didn't make any difference until the engine got above 6000 rpm. At the lower power levels here, it may not make any difference at all. It would be a good idea to use a wideband O2 to monitor air/fuel at the top end as you set your boost to make sure.

    • @BZXT
      @BZXT Před 7 měsíci

    What would be involved in switching my Mazdaspeed NB factory turbo with the Flyin' Miata Big Enchilada kit to the new turbo kit? Feasible?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 6 měsíci

      Because the Big Enchilada was designed to work with factory turbo components, it's not really compatible with our complete kits. There are a few parts such as the intercooler that are shared, but the majority of the kit is different. Even the bypass valve is different as we had to match the MSM port size.
      The best option might be to remove your complete MSM turbo system and sell it separately. It's hard to justify that, we'll admit.

  • @xenokyomi
    @xenokyomi Před 7 měsíci

    Question regarding the EGR, on a stock tune would there be any issues deleting/blocking off the EGR system? For someone with an AUDM car, pretty much every header/turbo manifold is incompatible with the EGR we got here, so just wondering if there would be any damage to the engine if this system was removed, or rather blocked off?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci

      To keep me out of trouble, I'll answer your question referencing the US spec 1.6. which doesn't have an EGR system from the factory. Our piggyback system, the Voodoo box, doesn't calculate for the EGR system. In short, if your county, state, country, galaxy, or universe doesn't require an EGR system, the turbo kit will still work fine.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci

      For 1999-00 cars with California emissions (two catalytic converters), this kit will remove the first cat and the EO will not be valid. If you have a non California emissions '99-00 in California with our turbo kit, there won't be an issue. If you don't know if you have a CA spec'd Miata, have a look at the exhaust manifold. If it has a cat integrated into it, it's a CA spec car.

    5 speed or 6 speed?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Because of the way the Voodoo Box interacts with the emissions system, we cannot sell it unless it’s part of a kit with an EO. Sorry about that, but we have to work within the law.
      As for your transmission choice, it’s a matter of gearing. A 5 speed with a 4.1 is a good all-around match, a 6-speed with a 3.6 is more challenging to find but gives you some nice freeway legs.

    • @RideShootDrink
      @RideShootDrink Před 7 měsíci

      @FlyinMiataVideo I have an unaltered, stock emission system. My car passed the smog in California last year. Minus the suspension mods, my car is stock. I have a second engine with your kit, and the only two things that prevent me from dropping this engine in my chassis is a need to install the elbow and voodoo box. Complainant CA parts to bring it to a legit CA state. You refuse to sell compliance parts, but you sell parts for the off-road use. Ridiculous!

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  Před 7 měsíci

      @@RideShootDrink Sorry for the frustration. We do not sell parts "for off-road use", as that is not a legal category of parts or cars. The AFM conversion kit does not remove or alter any stock emissions components. The Voodoo Box does, which puts it in a different class legally and why it can only be sold as part of a complete, compliant system. It may seem ridiculous to you but it's how the law works.
