  • I've received many requests to try this Power Acoustik EG1-10000D on the Amp Dyno to find out the "true" numbers. A 10k amp for $300 sounds too good to be true....so is it? Or does it meet it's ratings:
    1600W at 4 ohms
    3300W at 2 ohms
    5000W at 1 ohm
    All "RMS" ratings, plus box says it is a 0.5 ohm stable amp, so we tested it at this load as well. Check it out and hit thumbs up if you appreciate me buying this amp and testing to get the truth out there...

Been wanting to just buy the big fosgate amp but its $1500 is there any thing on the market one those gems that really puts out power for a low price thank you for your time GREAT VIDEOS APPRECIATE YOUR TIME

      I think they messed up on the labeling cause if you move your results over a space on your chart then you get very close to the ratings listed, probably ment 2 ohm 1660, 1 Ohm 2832, and .5 ohm 4877 which is very close. Seen alot of miss labeling with these kinda companies.

      I just think lesser quality amps need to be better cared for, as in better voltage to protect it. Often they have a weak power supply, or just enough fets to support output, but not enough built-in headroom.

Guess what? It's not that simple. First off, this amp will not draw 350 amps on average. Maybe 150-175. If you support that with a XS D1400 14 V battery, and run a ´half decent atl. then you're good to go.
      As far as what a stock car will support? It depends on the car. My Ram came with 440 amps worth of alt. from the factory :)

    Absolutely insane the amount of amperage it pulled to what it pushed out seems like if u were having a 300 amp draw u should be getting at least a good 4500 watts

    • @selfinflicted77
      @selfinflicted77 Před 7 lety +6

      Daniel Harrell no with a good amp a 400 amp draw really can only support around 3.5k-3.8k . all amps have an efficiency rating. most decent amps are 80% or above. that means you have a 20% loss when converting amps to wattage. for you example to be true you would need an amplifier with a 150% efficiency. that is impossible as energy is always lost as heat and other ways. the most efficient amps on the market are around 90%.
      my saz2500v2 was ratted for a 300 amp main fues just to push 2.5k at 1 ohm. at .5 ohm it jumped to around 2.85k so its efficiency at half ohm increased to closer to 90 something percent.
      anyway I just wrote this to help you better understand how fusing relates to maximum wattage. also I seen it had 2 likes so there is more than just you that are mis informed about how amperage draw directly related to efficiency rating and maximum wattage. you will never find a 12v amp with a 300 amp fuse pushing 4k.... unless the fuse isn't working right or is some kind if a cheater fuse.
      mike smiley did a test of some special fuses he found and was able to pull almost 400 amps through a 100 amp rated fuse. this is why most car stereo comps stopped using fuses for classification and went directly to clamping the amps. some fuses just refuse to pop at rated draw and some people were using slow blow fuses to exceed the rated amperage in their respected class.
      hope this helps and clears up your misunderstanding.

    The reason this amp didn't make it's rated power is because the test was not done properly. The amp needs to be mounted on carpet using the mounting tabs with sheet metal screws that screw through the sheet metal of the vehicle for extra grounding points, and also, the rca cables need to be wound into a coil and wrapped around the power wire, so they can ramp up the input signal voltage from induction from the power wire. And also, a battery bank and caps, can NEVER supply the amp with as much juice as a stock alternator that was designed run automotive electronics. I personally saw this amp clamp tested at 12,345 watts at a competition pushing 1 Funky Pup pit bull series 12" sub. Did 199.1 db on the dash!

    So if it says 5000 watts, then assume that the amp will do about 2500..
    Anyways.. I would love to see the Pioneer GM-D9601 on the amp dyno.. It's a very popular amp that's both cheap and many claims that it DOES rated power (1200w at 1 ohm) - Would guess that it does so dynamically

    • @wal
      @wal  Před 8 lety

      False claims to sell amps is still cheating the customer. You know, I know, many others know, but there is a large population of car audio consumers who don't know. This is why I make these videos. The Amp Dyno does not care what brand or price an amp is...it just measures wattage.

  • @selfinflicted77
    @selfinflicted77 Před 7 lety +2

    so many people in this thread do not understand amperage draw. A 300 amp fuse can not support more than 3k and that is if it had 100% efficiency. Most 12v amps only have around a 87% efficiency, and that is on high end amps.
    Super cheap amps may draw 300 amps but only push barely 2k. that is because the efficiency rating on these amps is more in the range of 50-70%.
    fuse ratings don't lie. on a 12v system you will never push more watts than amperage pulled. (example 300 amp main fuse and amp pushing 4k.) It is physically impossible to do this unless you are running a high voltage setup (taramps) or you are using fuses that don't blow at rated draw.
    I can't believe the amount of misinformed comments on this thread about amperage draw and wattage out put.
    (please someone back me up and explain the way this works to some of these guys, not to be an asshole but to better educate people about amps when making decisions about the quality of an amp.)

    • @wal
      @wal  Před 7 lety

      +Brian Reed its mostly my fault for not explaining the current pulls, but the Amp pulls I show are a worst-case scenario. Using test tones with a single frequency work fine for power output, but the current pulls can be a bit bloated. When you see a 300A pull for an Amp Dyno run, this is not fully indicative of what a person can expect with music playback. It can get as high as 300A, but won't stay at 300A unless you have a consistent 1ohm load (speakers are a reactive load and not consistent like a resistor) and using a single frequency. I know some songs people use have extremely long bass notes and actually do simulate test tones. In these cases, use my results to understand the strain on your electrical system. Also, for short bursts, fuses can handle 2-3x their ratings before failing.

    IDGAF.... for 300 bucks and you can get 1600 true watts and a peak in dynamic with 4800? That is fantastic. That is better than most premium brands at 650 bucks and up.

      +MacNifty So you buy a car that's rated for 300hp, put it on a Dyno and find out it does 150hp....since the price was cheap that's ok? IGAF and I'm mad. You guys should be too.

    • @mcf3778
      @mcf3778 Před 8 lety

      +Dereck BigDWiz would be more like buying a car that claims 600hp and puts out 300hp.... your comparison is just like the 1999 cobra that claimed 300 and was doing 175hp because of the bad intake manifolds and people were furious

Also if you do ever happen to come across the kicker cx 1200.1 the first cx series yellow and black one from 2012 not the updated cx grey and black one and if you have the time, throw her on the dyno and let's see what she can do.

    Rms power is great but how about subwoofer damping (control). Sometimes theirs a reason why some amps cost more. “It’s because it is not just clean, it is clean and detailed” I like loud, deep, low end bass, mid bass, mid range, high mid, low high, and top highs just full, precise, and complete with the ability to hit 150+ dB under 35hz!!!

  • @likeclockwork6473

    Actually those 2 ohm results are pretty good. You lose a lot of efficiency with it going to 1 ohm. With an increase in power draw of 88% you only get 46% more output. That's a huge efficiency loss going from 2 ohm to 1 ohm.

    Great video. 👍 It did a lil more then expected but I still wouldn't buy that amp. Too power hungry. I haven't seen an amp dyno for the new q1-2200.2 or q1-4500.1. Was wondering if you could make that happen?

    almost no amps actually put out rated power if it does 4k rms for 300 bucks its not a bad deal at all. plus im sure if u can get em better voltage theyd pump a little more it's basically a stock alternator test. my 6ks hit way harder at 15.5v then the 14v

    • @Siryn
      @Siryn Před 8 lety

      +Dereck BigDWiz That would explain why these are found in flea markets and pawn shops.... Smh... It's really disingenuous to people that don't know any better. However, on the flip side of that coin.... They buyer should have done a bit of research as well. There are some good budget brands but then there are these that are laughably bad. :) I miss the days when amps where highly underrated and you would get a pleasant surprise when your 100 watt amp made 500 or more rms! LOL!

    • @wal
      @wal  Před 8 lety +1

      +DJ Siryn the numbers are cool for videos, but I personally use Class A/B and less than 1000W on subs and that's enough for me. I just enjoy testing amps and want people to understand what they are buying. Inefficient amps require more electrical, inefficient subs require more wattage, thus more amps and electrical. It is a vicious cycled. The old school amps I prefer were for the most part made in the USA, cost $2-5 per watt and are still working today....20-30 years later. Although this amp seems like a deal at $300, I doubt it will be working in 20 years

    • @Siryn
      @Siryn Před 8 lety

      +Dereck BigDWiz Very true! I still have a few old Orion amps from the early to mid 90's that still work like champs.. One of them even went through a flood and sat underwater fro a day or so. I sat it up on a shelf thinking that it was a lost cause and a year or so later, I decided to clean it off and hook it up and it freaking worked! I was astounded. My old PPI amps are still amazing too.

  • @bp-tuningaeroxlc-dd6474

    I think it a factory Faulty that they did not write the manual can go down into 0.5 ohm
    Power acoustik EG1 - 10000D 10000w max power. 5,000 RMS -- 0.5 ohm. 3,300 RMS -- 1 ohm. 1,600 RMS -- 2 ohm.

  • @ericperry72
    @ericperry72 Před 8 lety +2

    so basically this is a 3k amp. in noticing this company will rate it soundstream and PPI brands accurately or better yet underrated but it PA brand is way over rated. which makes no sense. make the model number 2800 and you build up that brand as well. frustrating. never the less..a 3k amp for around 300 isn't bad.

    • @ThisGuyDrives
      @ThisGuyDrives Před 8 lety +2

      Actually it's a 2,000 watt amp at 1 ohm that draws a ridiculous 240 amps. Sorry, but no.

    • @selfinflicted77
      @selfinflicted77 Před 7 lety

      Eric Erickson the draw isn't that bad. must be over 70% efficiency.

    • @audiophile6475
      @audiophile6475 Před 7 lety

      The reason Epsilon underrates PPI and SoundStream products more often is the market they appeal isn't the same "MY SUBS POUND YO!" as PA. PPI and SS have "provenance/heritage" now whether it's all good or even matters right now is debatable, PA is for the teenager with the clapped out civic with NOS stickers in the windows and zip ties holding his "custom body kit on" he's more interested in bragging that the box his amp came in said 10,000 watts and "It pounds yo!" then does it actually get anywhere near the rated power.

    for $300 it's still a good deal, 2500 ish at 1 ohm, I paid $300 for my sundown 1000D, it puts out a bit more than 1000 Watts, but I bought it because I know it will do more than it says, and last for a long time, and I've heard they can run half ohm just fine, and get another 500-600 Watts, it makes me want more power for cheaper seeing this, but I know id rather have my high quality amp, that will keep going after tons of use

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X Před 5 lety

      It's not about the power. Problem is that a lot of these amps actually sound really bad. You'd be much better off with an entry level "quality" amp. The big power number is clipped, and you can be quite sure the power will go down like an anvil dropped from a crane, once it heat soaks.
      I suspect that a Memphis Audio 16-SRX750D.1 or Rockford Fosgate Punch P500X1 will get you a lot further, despite being rated much lower.
