From his first album until now, he has clearly shown signs of healing. God has used him in my life and so many other’s. You should really start back with his Mansion album. You should definitely check out How Could You Leave Us from his Therapy Session album. Hate Myself is another heartbreaking song from The Search. Anyway, check some more out. NF, for many reasons is considered an outcast by the hip hop and rap genre. 1) his lyrical content isn't about materialistic things, arrogance, or violent/sexual acts 2) he never curses 3) he's white and mislabeled a Christian rapper 4) Doesn't use drugs or alcohol 5) raps about emotional trauma and introspective thoughts associated to mental health. However, his fanbase is incredibly loyal and committed, and his numbers do excellent... so they have to go out of their way to ignore him.

The first line of his song Change: "I don't do drugs, I'm addicted to the pain tho." Nf has a lot to say, and a story that makes you actually listen... "Real" or "All I Have" is a good introduction to NF. "Remember This" and "If You Want Love" are kinda what NF is about along with "Therapy Session" (the song, not the album.) "Mansion" and "Change" (no music videos) tell us more about NF's headspace. And "Story" is a practical defense of 2A rights and cops.

This is my interpretation of this song. NF is a Christian who doesn't curse or use drugs. The people dressed in black are fighting their demons ( Burdens) and the people in white still have burdens but they are now living with them in the light instead of in the darkness by giving their burdens to God. In the end he is contemplating turning over a couple burdens to God. In the video you see the people in white remove their fake smile because they now can live in the light smiling even though they still have burdens.

I agree with this. I also think In this video, there are two lines of people in white. So, if you’re going to live in the light, you have two choices. Put on a fake smile and hide your burdens, or pick up your burdens. He’s still in the dark, hiding his burdens, but going his own direction forward, not killing around aimlessly in the light.

From what I understand, NF is giving up his burdens to Christ. He is a Christian. From listening to a few of his other songs and hearing his story, you'll find out he's strongly against drugs, because his mother overdosed when he was a kid. His struggle is more with mental health and social pressure than with drugs, alcohol, etc. That's why he's so popular, because he covers mental and psychological issues, which in fact is the root of addictions, which in turn relates to more people. Everyone has things they deal with. He points out that Christ is the way of fighting those issues.

As so many have said NF doesn't do drugs and as far as I know never has. He has a line in another song talking about doctors trying to get him on meds to help him mentally but he avoids them (medication). Your perspective on his conversation with Fame is interesting but NF mentions Fame all throughout his music and is pretty clear that he isn't motivated by that, in this song he says "he (Fame) asked me how I've been, I sent him this song" the song is Leave Me Alone, so he's telling Fame to leave him alone. Jumping into this song is hard because NF is one of the few artists you really NEED to go back and listen to his music in order to fully understand his newer music. He’s also turned down “fame” in several songs, and I think everyone who is saying that the text convo is of him sending this song to “fame” as a response, is probably correct, it fits with the running storyline. A previous album had him saying to “fame” to wait til he got to album 4, because he wasn’t ready to talk yet. While he has older music, this is considered to be album 4, so this is his response to that postponed convo.

You missed it at the end, he’s giving his burdens to a mysterious man in a pure white coat, symbolic of God taking his burdens, as well as those in the background, and they’re exchanging their black robes for pure white clothing. Symbolizing a clean slate once you place your trust in God. NF doesn’t get the Gospel perfect, but he illustrates it in a way with this song.

You need to start at the beginning of the NF journey. He's got 4 albums that are literally a journey through is mind and his life. Start with the Mansion album: Intro, Mansion, Wake Up. Next is the Therapy Session album: Intro 2, Therapy session, How could you leave us, Real. The Perception Album is next: Intro III, Outcast, Let you Down, Outro. Finally is the one you started with which is "The Search" album: The search, Leave me alone, Change, Nate, Time. He's got a newer album called Clouds. It's the first album that deviates from his typical story about his life and past and focuses on his present. A lot of great hits on that one but the only one that you really NEED to listen to is paid my dues IMO because it's a response to people getting ticked off that his Search album did so well. He basically in one month wrote that song and it SLAPS.
Long story short Michael, if you're going to dig into NF and make judgements on what you think he's saying, give yourself more context and start at the beginning. Your views will skyrocket in the process. I'd title the series "NF Journey: *insert name of song here*" But you do you. Much love

Everything in a NF video has meaning.. even down to the colors used.. like the colors of the clothing... the dark colors represent his depression and anxiety, pretty much his "dark" side, while the white clothes represent his light side... so the ending with him handing his balloons (burdens) over is really him letting go of his depression and anxiety and finally making the choice to be happy... thats why we dont see who he's handing the balloons to, because its himself, just his lighter, happy side, which leads into his next album "hope", where he's ditched the dark clothes for white clothes... its him subliminally telling, not just his fans, but himself that he's taking control of his life and he's gonna make himself happy, whether he is or isnt
