I wish we could afford to buy food like that. Food has gotten so expensive in the last few months. I watch every budget meal video on here and there are a lot of very good meal planners out there. Jamerill does a really great job at meal planning for her large family. I will keep on watching for some great inspiration.

Oh my goodness!! The small boxes of cereal are such a throwback. My mother did not buy them often but when she did it was such a fantastic treat. Great memories!!
We made our "monthly" run yesterday to our local grocery outlets. It actually lasts about 3 weeks, 😆. Family of 8, with our 6 kiddos being 14-3. Combined run was $1450. Without Walmart. Have an additional $750 for that run set aside. Aldi's runs about $600. But, I'm buying for Hubby's diabetic/low cholesterol/high protein diet, and about 98% organic across the board. Whew. It's the putting it all away part that gets me. Everything is categorized and organized. Because, yeah, time matters, 😆
Those little packs of cereals reminded me of Christmas, the kidlets would always put out a pillow slip that was filled with treats including the cereal packs, small tins spaghetti tubes of condenced milk and many othe snacks that lasted them from Christmas to new year. I had a hysterectomy just before Christmas when they were 13, 10 &9 so thought they had grown out of them but I came home via supermarket and they all asked if I had shopped for their snacks and when i told them I thought they had grown out of them they gave a cry of horror in unison so told them to get a trolly and get the usual, which they did and when we got home they shared it all out and put their pillow slips on their own beds for the next morning.🤣😂

Those mini boxes of cereals have become a Christmas morning tradition at our house. On that day we eat a big breakfast with extended family, but later in the day. So, to keep the kids from starving too much because they are up so early on that day, my husband writes a number on each one of those boxes. Then, he writes matching numbers on little pieces of paper and puts them in a hat. Each person picks a number, and he finds the box with the matching number, and that's the box that whoever picked that number gets. That's our morning snack before the big family breakfast.
I have been wanting to make your recipes in their full glory. Full "lotta, lotta mega" sized. It finally dawned and me, a couple days ago, I can make the dishes and drop them off at the various overnight shelters/churches to help feed the homeless. Many years ago, hubby and I were homeless (street bound for 9 months, in a hotel room for another 13 months). I think this will be one of our ways to help where we can.
Good thinking to have a bunch of freezer meals and emergency foods in place when you get your kidney procedure done! My daughter loves Mac and cheese cups! I would have been loading up on those!
That's how we did it when mine were younger. 8 kids at the time (9 total now but only youngest still at home) and 15 seater van with back seat removed. Road trips, shopping trips, and camping were a breeze. I'm a minimalist packer too...that helps.

Hot tip for the chickpea pasta - mix it 50/50 with the normal wholegrain! it makes it a whole protein all by itself, and helps it taste and feel more like normal pasta. Just remember they might not need the same cook time so just add whichever needs least later.
You have inspired me to cook more. We are empty nesters, but we have a whole lot of children and grandchildren that love to come and eat with us. I am trying to catch up on all of your videos.

As someone with celiac disease, I've tried all the alternative pastas. I don't like the Banza pasta, unfortunately. Their pizza crusts are good, though. The brown rice pasta can get mushy if you overcook it and definitely rinse it with a lot of water after cooking. My fave is a corn pasta that I cannot get here since the pandemic started since it's from Romania, supply issues I guess. I use the Tinkyada brown rice pasta for now, it's the best of the brown rice pasta IMO. There are other pastas that are a mix of corn flour and rice flour, they work ok. Again, have to watch it close to keep it from turning into a big glob of mush. I've ruined so many pans of pasta that way. Now you remind me I need to get those applesauce boxes at Sharp Shopper, I forgot to look last time.

Here's a yummy quick fruit salad using fruit cocktail: Add a can or 2 fruit cocktail drained to a large container cottage cheese, a large container of cool whip and whatever number sliced bananas to fill in for fruit. Then stir in whatever number of boxes of either dry lemon or dry lime jello to firm up the whip and give some body to your salad keeping it from going liquid. For my family of 3, I use 1 regular can cocktail, 1 banana, 1 medium cool whip, 1 regular jello snd a 8 oz large curd cottage cheese. The cottage cheese doesn't really come trough on taste but nutritious. I usually put the can of cocktail in the fridge the day before so all is super cold.
