Rick Davies Supertramp Child of Vision (solo piano - live Paris 1979)

RICK DAVIES : SOLO PIANO - Le pianiste Rick Davies, co-fondateur avec Roger Hodgson du groupe Supertramp, dont nous avions dressé un portrait/interview il y a quelques années (voir ici : www.pianoweb.fr/rick-davies-i... et ici www.pianoweb.fr/rick-davies.php), devait démontrer ses qualités de pianiste lors du passage du groupe à Paris en 1979.
L'extrait proposé ici n'est autre que l'interprétation de "Child of Vision", un de leurs grands succès figurant dans l'album "Breakfeast in America" (1979). Nous avons choisi de ne diffuser que le solo de piano, car il représente un exemple à méditer pour tous les pianistes. Rick Davies démontre tout son savoir-faire dans un long crescendo rythmique qui conduit jusqu'à l'intervention de John Helliwell au saxophone. Une excellente improvisation qui démontre que le piano sait parfaitement vibrer sous différentes latitudes, comme ici, quand le rock s'invite !

RICK DAVIES: SOLO PIANO - Pianist Rick Davies, co-founder with Roger Hodgson of the group Supertramp, of which we had drawn up a portrait/interview a few years ago (see here : www.pianoweb.fr/rick-davies.php and here www.pianoweb.fr/rick-davies-i..., had to demonstrate his qualities as a pianist during the passage of the group in Paris in 1979.
The excerpt proposed here is none other than the interpretation of "Child of Vision", one of their great hits appearing in the album "Breakfeast in America" (1979). We have chosen to broadcast only the piano solo because it represents an example to ponder for all pianists. Rick Davies demonstrates all his know-how in a long rhythmic crescendo which leads to the intervention of John Helliwell on the saxophone. An excellent example that demonstrates that the piano knows how to vibrate perfectly in different latitudes, like here when rock comes on !

Rick never sang this song. I have to say that Roger’s voice in the chorus, for me, is like somebody's voice from Alvin and the chipmunks.
