Recently got into X-Wing after seeing it on sale at Target.
Little did I know that this is just as addicting as Warhammer from my years past.

I'm amazed. the rolls obviously helped, but the interceptor, phantom pincer maneuver, with the lambda straight through the middle. brilliant strategy.
Just discovered this game a few months ago at Comicon, and I'm already so deep into it... I just love it dearly and hope to compete regionally/nationally soon!!!
X Wing is an incredible game. It's easy to learn, yet incredibly deep, and the manuever dial system is something fresh in a miniatures game.
Many Sidebothams died to bring us this video.
Excellent as always from Team Covenant. Really fun to see those players go at it. One thing that surprises me though is that they throw their dice wildly around the table repeatedly hitting something on the board. I find that strange in a game like this.
+Ívar Gunnarsson Aside from final matches, most tournament matches are on a strict time limit, so the competitors are used to doing everything as quickly as possible (to get more rounds in the game), meaning they can't waste time taking care to throw the dice gracefully.

Too bad we waited so long only to see one upload for the tournament, which was a blowout final.

Seeing that Sointir Fel had 2 shields and 2 hull instead of 3 hull led me to believe that he would not take damage at all, so the outcome of this game was kinda telegraphed.

I'm glad the guy let the other re-cloak. When on camera and after 2 days of endless x-wing I would assume everyone is pretty dead from all the plays, I would feel like a huge jerk to deny him that since it's just a game in the end and they obviously are both great players. The sidebars look like a lot of work :( Shame that they seem too big for the video and like prolly tons of people will point out the stats for soontir are confused with Phantom stats. Really good coverage.
I wouldn't feel like a jerk, its Nationals, the FINAL, you make a mistake, I'm killing you for it, say later in the game, I choose a right turn, you go left, leaving me no shot, I go "oh shit, I meant to go left, can I change it?" the answer is F**K NO!!! its no different forgetting your action. The game is all about NOT making mistakes!!!

Why are they throwing the dice into the crowded part of the board, knocking asteroids out of position. Did this bother anyone else?
Simulates the movement of asteroids, I see no problem with that. They shouldn't stay stuck in place anyway.

Why does the Soontir graphic have two shields and two hull?
Wow, What a slaughter. Didn't think this would happen at the finals. Excellent coverage as usual guys. Tons of info on the sidebars-- i dug it.
I used to run a similar list. I called it falcon punch. It had Rey and chewy. Rey with trickshot Finn and leebo. If done right you can get a six shot through an astroid. And chewy with millennium falcon, c3p0 and lone wolf.
I really enjoy your X-Wing tournament coverage. Keep it up and keep them coming.

Just a heads up, Soontir does not have 2 hull 2 shied
@3:30 when Zach says that Chewie lets you ignore the crits flipped up by R2D2.. that's actually incorrect. Since R2D2's effect doesn't "deal" a crit. Only flips an existing card face up.
Lambda was blocker and bait. Shooting at it instead of whisper was a game changer.
Throw dice after dice at the point sink murder setup, deal with the rest later.
The Phantom is an absolute beast! Let me make sure I'm right: free target lock, free cloak action and free focus to use for evades each time you shoot something?
+specialj99 Yup! Or take Echo for two less points and trade that free Focus for a set of movement options which lets you ensure you're out of anyone's firing arcs/ranges anyway.

Spacefrisian That hardly matters if (since you get to move after Mux) he's in your firing arc, and you're not in his.
What mat are they using here and what size is it?

I'm confused as to why Soontir doesn't give his stress to the Captain Yorr at the 14:00 mark. Your comment says it's not range 1 for him to remove it, but the card says range 1-2. I think I've been playing this wrong.
+bobby heilman I was wondering that as well, but I think he wanted to take the stress token on Soontir so he could also get a free Focus at the same time, which he wouldn't get if Yorr took the stress instead.
Lambda is my favourite SW ship, and I'd like to get into X-wing... but Lambda is so real-world expensive! It's twice the price of the Phantom and a lot less versatile. Still, good to see evidence that it can be used at a competitive level.

What happened around 21 minutes he rolled 5 hits against 1 green dice. What upgrades did I miss? Can someone explain how it didn't die??
+Renjii44 He used Lando's "Draw Their Fire" to take 1 of the criticals away, and C-3PO to (correctly) guess he would roll one Evade result, giving him an extra Evade, which canceled two of the remaining four hits. As a result, he only took one regular damage and one critical on Chewie (and the critical gets played face down without resolving due to Chewie's pilot ability), dropping the Falcon from five to three remaining Hull.
Wow those dice rolls. I know someone said they wouldn't cheat but, this is a tourney and people do want to win at all cost.

Don't let your opponent back up the game after the next attack happened. New information has been revealed which changes the game.
I sometimes wish games like this with a random number element would have multiple matches. Unfortunately one match just takes too long.

In competitive environment, the Imperial player shouldn't of been allowed to re-cloak when he missed the trigger. Friendly environment its ok, but at a tournament....
This discussion was already had, and done, two months ago.
Yeap .. this was a controversial thing that happened and people talked about. But I think you will find that most of the high lvl players are oddly "friendly" in this community.
I played at GenCon and at that level the sportsmanship was way more friendly than at local and regional events. For Example: Tie Swarms were usually moved by placing the first ship and then lining up the rest when the formation was "known" to work, rather than measuring each ship.
In the end, this should come to the opponent to decide, right? If the rebel player lets him do that, why not?
One of the things I love about X-Wing is all this "Fly Casual" movement. In the end, it's just a game, right?
I have no issue with this. It is so nice to be in a friendly competitive environment. I plan on always "Flying Casual" when I play this game.
Are you also going to post videos for the other games? I am interested in Netrunner, Star Wars LCG and the Warhammer 40k LCG.

How can he equip a R2-D2 to a YT-1300???
New player here, I don't understand what happened at 21:30ish. 3 hits and two crits, only 1 evade rolled and so show chewwie isn't dead when he had only 3 hull? In fact, he loses no health at all?

Why does the Phantom roll 5 green dice to evade? (11.19) I understand that cloak gives 2 extra dice, which should mean 4 dice evade? It's not range 1 because there was only 3 red dice, not 4. I ask only in the interests in further understanding the game, not to be an arsehole. Cheers.
It's a shot at Range 3. That yields an extra evade die to the defender.

Sorry to be picky, but I found it distracting that Lando had "Draw their fire" and Chewbacca had "Draw thier fire". Once I got past that I enjoyed the commentary and the game. I'm not a fan of double - Falcon.

Great video guys!!!! But the constant praise of the Phantom is just sickening... So I'm stopping after 10min. The ship has clearly destroyed/distorted the game to such a degree that Fat Hans are over represented (just look at Worlds 2014..). The decloaking mechanism PLUS 4 attack dice was complete over kill. Yes, the decloak is fun and interesting but there really was no need to also allow the ship 4 attack dice. The decloak could easily have been used to get in range 1 and then get 4 attack dice. No need to grant it such an advantage.
