- ER Nurse Pamela Orlando worked to treat coronavirus patients until she became one herself, and then documented her fight with the virus until she died on April 16, 24 days after she fell ill. One of her sons, Reid, said he begged his mother not to go to work, but she continued to fight on the front lines. David Begnaud shares her story.
🥺😔😥😪 She looks as if she was a very friendly, warm hearted person, that's a big loss, not just for her family, but for all of us !
Rip mam. U are a hero
@Nate Hall ? Where is she then?

Why would “god” bless her when he didn’t save her? After she prayed and prayed for her life and there was no answer. Nada!
Two logical conclusions arise:
1) if there is a god. It’s an indifferent god who lets people die like this and doesn’t care or that he/she or it is an evil god an actually enjoys watching this type of suffering. Definitely not a benevolent god because a benevolent god would not allow genocide or lovely people like this precious lady suffer and die like this. You can argue that god gives us free will but this lady did nothing wrong to deserve this. It was not her will. That’s for sure.
2) that there is no god and this is all up to us. This is part of the natural world. The evidence or lack of there would point more at this conclusion. There are no supernatural shenanigans and again all of this is up to us. That’s if you think rationally and critically of course. If you are a superstitious and gullible person this is not going to make too much sense to you. You are preprogrammed to believe no matter what. Hopefully you can escape that “bubble”.
As a single mother, I pray that her sons will be okay, how traumatic
you wonder why her husband aint ther.

Maybe if we paid people more good people like Pamela wouldn’t have died. Three jobs in her 50s. That’s not right.
yacket I had 3 jobs and got the brain and heart version of the disease and died tHe night of March 28 and recovered at age 50 but your point is spot on. Not fair ...so so sad for This family because iT is my story too buT with a happy ending. She And her boys are my heroes tonight
yacket we can’t just start paying people more. I think nurses should be payed more but not every job
@@Ok-nt6mg ... Wages don’t match the cost of living anymore... The wealthy are fleecing the poor and middle class ... American dream is dead ...
I'm quite sure she was a wonderful woman, but to say she wouldn't have died if she was paid more and worked only 1 job is ridiculous. Many people with one job are dying from COVID. Many retired people are dying of COVID.
@@funkyflights wages are based on a free market economy. Want more money? Finish college, don't go into debt to pay for a fancy college, buy used car or take public transportation and minimize going out. Since when did it become realistic to live on what you get paid by working at Target? The choice is yours.....no one owes you a living wage regardless of your skills, education and value in the job market.
I’m glad she had a chance to see her mom and sons before she passed. I’m glad they were able to see her one last time. Very sad story.
I am sending my prayers to her son's and mother. God bless your mother. She is a real ANGEL.
Why keep on believing in this supernatural nonsense. There was no god to helped after she prayed and prayed for her life. 🤷🏻♂️

@@afvro75 plus if your just gonna reply back to my comment and say some atheists stuffs at me your just starting a religion war
Random Minecraft Player Atheism is not a religion. Is the rejection of the proposition that says a god exists. That’s it. There are no tenets or authorities. You say a god exists and say I don’t believe you. So you can either prove your proposition with empirical, demostrable and objective evidence or ignore me and go back to your supernatural beliefs. That’s it. It’s not that complicated. 👍🏻
@@afvro75 Well we don't need atheists today in these times during the pandemic so just go back to your beliefs we believe in God. You don't believe in God.
I've had covid-19 since Aug 14th. What started off as a dry cough quickly turned into fevers, chills & waking up in the middle of the night drenched. I lost all sense of taste & smell, had a sore throat, diarrhea, dry nose w nose bleeds, but the worst was having trouble breathing. I could not walk from my bedroom to the kitchen without gasping for air. I've had asthmas all of my life so I was using my nebulizer every 4 hrs & had been on the phone w my doctors office who prescribed an antibiotic as well as a steroid. Nothing was helping. I went from being a huge water drinker to not being able to drink it at all bc it made me gag. A friend of mine was kind enough to have a care package delivered to me that included ginger ale & a bunch of fruit & crackers & different teas, jello & cliff bars. The ginger ale was the first thing I was able to keep down. On 9/11 I woke up & knew I was in trouble. I called for help & when the paramedics arrived my oxygen level was in the low 60's & I was under respiratory distress. I was given 100% oxygen thru a face mask. Once at the hospital they did a cat scan to make sure I didn't have a blood clot in my lungs & was diagnosed w Covid Pneumonia. I am part of the 15% that is severe. I spent a wk in the hospital & was given Antiviral medicine for 5 days as well as a hand full of vitamins & other medications. They also did an ultrasound on both of my legs & found a DVT in each leg. I was already on blood thinners so to find out I had two new blood clots was shocking. But that's how covid works. It looks for your weaknesses & attacks. Covid-19 pneumonia lasts longer & causes more harm than your typical pneumonia. Covid pneumonia begins in numerous small areas of the lungs. It then uses the lungs' own immune cells to spread across the lungs. This is similar to how multiple wildfires spread thru a forest. As it slowly moves thru the lungs, it leaves damaged lung tissue in its wake & even organ damage. I am currently at home w oxygen bc my levels drop dramatically anytime I get up & move. I am what is considered as a long hauler. I know I have a long road of recovery ahead of me, but I am so thankful to be alive. I know it could be worse & I know how quickly things can change. My body needs time to heal. It first has to repair the damage caused to my lungs; then it has to deal with cleaning leftover fluid & debris & finally, scarring until the tissue is fully healed over -- all of which come with unpleasant symptoms. I'm sorry this is so long. I just wanted to share my story & stress the importance of getting vaccinated. I was not. I have preexisting health concerns & wanted to talk to my primary doctor first. I never got that chance & if I could turn back time I would have gotten vaccinated. Even with being vaccinated you can still get covid, but your symptoms would be more like the flu. Not what I am currently experiencing. I would not wish this on anyone. Please, if you are against being vaccinated or don't believe covid is real for whatever reason, I urge you to talk to your family doctor & together weigh out the pros & cons. At leas think about it. It could save your life. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your story. I can’t believe how many people can hear these types of experiences with covid and still not get vaccinated or at the very least take precautions. I was at a funeral just yesterday for a 43 year old who died of covid. A death that could have been prevented had he been vaccinated. He leaves behind his wife and two children.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I hope you health recovers as much as possible.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this. The details will help many I’m sure. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for sharing your story. My husband snd I are just “coming out” of it. Still weak. My husband still hasn’t regain his appetite, still feels weak and the cough hasn’t left. He was starting pneumonia he was told 5 days ago and was given antibiotics then but the cough persists as of now not as bad as the beginning. Sending prayers your way for a fast recovery!🙏🙏
@@Doribel123 I'm so sorry to hear both you & your husband have been sick. I'm glad he is feeling a little better & pray the both of you make a full recovery. This virus is scary. I still have very little sense of taste or smell & it's frustrating bc I'm hungry & want to eat, but nothing tastes right. While in the hospital I lost 8 lbs & I only weighted 127 to begin with.
And people are pushing for reopening of different states are protesting, while people who are trying to save their lives are dying, how selfish they are.
jay W is the flu more contagious than covid-19? does the flu have worst symptoms than covid-19? Can the flu mutate like covid? these things are serious matters and reopening states is gonna lead to more sickness

Healthcare workers, school teachers, police officers should be getting NBA player salaries. This country is so backwards.
I totally AGREE!!
I totally agree🤷🏽♂️
I somewhat agree with you, however the NBA owners who don't do any work get paid MUCH more money than NBA players who have to practice and stay in shape everyday. I've seen lots of out of shape cops. I'd rather young people be involved with sports and not gangs or drugs.
Stop watching them and they won't.
I agree. I worked for ten years as an educator and I never ONCE made over poverty level. Even working summer school!
That was very heartbreaking. I cannot imagine the pain her family and love ones are going through.

Now we’re a year and a half in and it feels like this nurse’s sacrifice was in vain. We have people who still say this is nothing, refuse to get vaccinated, refuse to use masks and don’t give a rat’s a$$ about their responsibility to the greater community.
You are so correct, everything is
Done by the
wrong clock
I would be so angry if I had lost someone who was on the frontlines and seeing the irresponsibility and carelessness of so many that are putting themselves and others in harm’s way.
Getting vaccinated for who? Oh yeah that's right because you believe if everyone is vaccinated it's just gonna go away 🤣. Now that's funny.

My grandmother died today at 538 pm on the 12th day fighting covid its devastating 😢
The comment about her heart rate and oxygen levels when she heard her family shows how important it is that they should be there. Covid makes that difficult and mostly impossible.
That's true. They need family there. Some are in the hospital so long with out any family contact they just loose hope and give up. There is no reason they can't suit the family members up and let them visit. I think more people would survive this if they had that personal contact.
So sorry for these young men. So thankful for your mom and all nurses who sacrifice their own safety to help others.
While of course I and all others greatly appreciate people like her - she was older, a cancer survivor and already not in great health with her weight. She should not have been working on the front line.
Please stop talking.

“She died 2 hours after her boys got to see her” 😭
Both my husband and I were in the hospital with Covid at the same time...even though I had had Covid I was refused visitation ....I couldn't even talk with him...I called his " care givers" but they really didn't give me truthful answers...called in at 5am, I saw a person in the bed I did not reconize ..I knew, by his vital signs, he was already gone, so I signed the papers, the IVs were stopped, and the vent was turned off...his heart stopped at 6:29..I began my life as a widow...do I think they did everything they could...NO...my questions were not answered ..😖
That's exactly what happened to my sister on December 15 2020. She passed right after her son came. He refused to come the entire time she was ill and the same day he finally showed up she passed a couple hours later. Almost like she was waiting to see him first

God bless their beautiful mother and family.
To be honest, I was attending RN school last year. It was my life long dream! Watching so many front line medical people dying from Covid, I dropped out of nursing school. I am 62 years old, a breast cancer survivor, & I have high blood pressure (even though I take meds for it). My daughter has asthma. I can't risk the health of my family....
I am sure that was a difficult decision to make, giving up your dreams for your own safety and others. But, I know this much. You'll forge a path, that you didn't expect, and will make you happy. I certainly wish you health and happiness. 💜💜💜
This is why I stay home as much as possible. I've lost some relationships along the way but I'm not okay with the idea that I would pass a life threatening virus along to someone else. Or potentially die leaving my young kids behind.
