I agree with the slime and liners but the bicycle mechanic in me says no with a cringe face 😂 to the screwdriver. Screw driver should only be use as a last resort. Tire levers don't cost much.
Agreed lol. I used to manage and work in a tire store for 12 years. I pulled this tool without even thinking about those that have never changed a tire (plus I try not to sell folks on products). Good call out though!! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel to help me grow! 👊🪚
I suppose anything helps but the liner looked super thin. (Is it made of kevlar?) Also, thankfully, tubes come with slime installed I'm considering upgrading to Kevlar tires to better defeat those dreaded 'goatheads' thorns 'Tribulus terrestrus'...
It is a fairly strong vinyl type of material. Definitely something that works well and hasn't disappointed at all! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel to help me grow 👊 🪚
Ok so slime you have to have a auto air pump turned on otherwise the slime can back spray into the pump and destroying the air pump. I tried duct tape as a kid and it helped by extra layers but it makes the tires to heavy. As a resident of new mexico though I'll try it maybe the double slime might work better then it did 15 years ago
That's a good point. I forgot how difficult it can be with a regular hand pump! It can even plug the valve when the hand or foot pumps don't generate enough pressure. Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel to help me grow 🪚 👊
Not true, or I've never had it ruin a pump. I've used slime with even with a hand pump. If the valve is not at the top of the wheel when pumping it up the slime sometimes clogs the vale core. You then have to remove the core and clean it, however. Otherwise, yes slime works well, I have ridden over hundreds of goatheads on my mountain bike without getting a flat. Just remember tho leave the goatheads in the tire, and remember to take them out when changing the tube.
Very true. Thanks for helping answer this one. Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel to help me grow 🪚 👊
Bought a bike because car went into body shop. Instead of getting rides, I decided to also lose weight. Its about 5.5 miles to work and in 3 weeks, went from 302lbs down to 286. Didnt finish my first week before had my first flat from goatheads. Replaced tube and didnt put any sealant into the tire or applied liner. 2 weeks later, tonight, rear tire went flat 3 blocks from apartment. Got back and found multiple goat heads in both front and rear tires. Stopped counting at 22 leaks with spraying with soapy water in the front. So tired of crappy tires that wont stop goat heads.
Dang, sorry it didn't work. Maybe you have thinner tires too? It's still working great in ours
@@BourbonCreations MY apologies if I wrote it wrong. I havent used any slime or wheel protectors yet. I take 2 routes, 1 to and 1 from work. There is 1 section of grass I ride on but that area is clear of goatheads. Last night. I ended up going around 2 people standing on the sidewalk and had to ride in an area I never road on and I think thats where I found the goat heads. Will be getting some slime and wheel protectors and see how that works.
@kootybear oh okay, I read it as the liner didn't stop em. Lemme know how they work after you install em, I think you'll be happy with em. Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel to help it grow 👊 🪚
@@BourbonCreations I will do that. I sit in front of a computer all day for work and when I get home, my typing is not that good, my typing is quicker then my brain somehow lol
Use plastic tyre levers, not screwdrivers!
Either will work. Most folks don't have plastic ones lying around, and screwdriver works if you go slow
