A good way to "look at your audience" if you get nervous is to look slightly above which section you want to look at. This makes it seem like you're directly looking at them while in actuality you are just staring at the back of the room. Also remember to turn to face a new section of the audience from time to time. You should definitely push yourself to look directly at your audience to improve yourself in general when dealing with people.
Pro tip for the eye contact: look at people specifically in the audience. Not above them or at some random point in the room. It will make your point come across very clearly if you do.
When it comes to how strict your teacher is on the rubric, don't always say "um" or "uh" whenever you're explaining a topic in your presentation. Hope that helps! 😊
this is impossible for me i can't speak in class without saying umm at least once. normally at the start of the sentence i know what i'm gonna say and it always goes "um-"
I am a High School student and I have done a lot of presentations in my school. After watching this video, I have improved my skills in presenting subjects. Thanks brother Gohar❤
What helped with my actual confidence in class presentations is realizing that literally no one cares and they are barely paying attention in the first place. No one will remember it unless you do something funny and that’s it
Hey Gohar! Thanks a lot!I watched this short day before yesterday and today was my presentation and aced it.Usually I am nervous but because of this short I was much more confident and performed Amazingly❤ Once again,THANK YOU❤
What also helped me in the past was realising that the other people know how nervous we are… that way, its easier to just take a few seconds to breathe if your mind blanks and start over again… it also underlines that no, you’re not unprepared, you’re just nervous because you take the presentation serious, at least in my opinion 😅
also,if you might think that the audience WILL laugh at you if you are inside or outside focus on one thing avoid contact with the audience or if you arw inside you can look at the wall and focus the wall. hope this help
on top of that, I would say every sentence look to a different person so everybody grasps what your saying more. If you just look at one person they may be confused and also might distract the rest of the audience while presenting
1 - *Eye contact* : just look at the audience so you can make them feel like you're talking to each one of them individually, which leads into them getting more interested 2 - *Body language* : don't just stand there with your hands in a shape, move around the room, don't move too fast nor too much cause you'd be distracting your audience, but instead move like you're just drifting Also with your hands you should probably do gestures that relate to what you're talking about For example if you're listing sth raise your hand up and count numbers in them 3 - *tone* : you can't keep your tone the same the whole entire time. It will just get your audience bored. Instead try raising your voice in important stuff and lowering your voice when it's sth useless 4 - *interact* : interact with your audience. Ask them questions about their personal experiences relating to the topic. It'd be better if you ask them at the beginning to grab their attention 5 - *have fun* : no one would remember if you messed up while saying a word so really just go for it without worrying
"You stand up straight, widen your stance, and take your hands out of your pockets." Sounds like you're getting ready to fight. But remember that the people you're presenting to are not your enemies. . . . I assume.
When I was a kid I couldn’t stand eye contact and now I can’t live without it, people think it’s intimidating, and exudes confidence, I’m just comfortable around people and I like that about myself
And if you are nervous about making eye contact with people, just look at the back wall of your classroom or look at the people you are comfortable with.
I remember a few months ago I used this at my first solo presentation I had Abit a stage fright but thanks to this I actually got through it and now doing presentation is my thing. So thank you
I take one for the team and talk "confidently" every time we got a group presentation (I suck at it sometimes 💀), it's a lot better than forcing my friends to talk even more when they're already really nervous ☠️
following up the pyramid with the philly (raise one hand 4 inches in front of your solar plexus or next to your cheek and "hold the pen/fly") is also a good way to show confidence imo
all good tips! here’s a life saver: - look right above the students in the most central portion of the room. looks like you’re making eye contact, but it’s less awkward

He makes it sound so easy. But if we’re being honest, no one can think clearly when presenting. At least I can’t.

Last one helped so much, I used to talk more 'upwards'. Downwards helped a lot.
What also helped me in the past was realising that the other people know how nervous we are… that way, its easier to just take a few seconds to breathe if your mind blanks and start over again… it also underlines that no, you’re not unprepared, you’re just nervous because you take the presentation serious, at least in my opinion 😅

I really needed this right now!! I have a presentation at the regional level and I am actually a lot nervous.. thank you for the advice!!
Also try to replace “uh”, “ahm”, and stuttering with silence it helps SO MUCH
Silence is just awkward bro, ahs are much better don't know why people hate ahs. Are we supposed to speak like machines?

Sounds like you're getting ready to fight. But remember that the people you're presenting to are not your enemies.
. . . I assume.
I need to bookmark this video so I can use it next time I order food at a restaurant
Also, its good to show hand gestures since it makes others more invested in listening to you.

When I was a kid I couldn’t stand eye contact and now I can’t live without it, people think it’s intimidating, and exudes confidence, I’m just comfortable around people and I like that about myself
I did this exactly when we had to do a 3 minute speech in front of the year below us. Super nerve-wrecking but I did it, and succeeded. 👍
Could you give an example of downward vs upward inflection?
He did, while mentioning that point. An upward inflection is when you are asking a question
So you know how people tend to raise their pitch at the end of a sentence in order to make it a question?
Don’t do that
And if you are nervous about making eye contact with people, just look at the back wall of your classroom or look at the people you are comfortable with.
I’m having a presentation tomorrow and I’m feeling confident. I’ll update if I did good!
