Thanks for all the kind words. Just having a moment and as much as the truth is ugly sometimes, it's good to get it out there. I love what I'm allowed to do and that will never change. Hey Chris, I have been watching your stuff for about 2 to 3 years now and I just love all of these videos you make. Hell for some of them I just watch them over and over again just because I love them. So when you really feel like you need a break but you know you can't, just stop that train and just take a break. Be it a day or a week, just take one for yourself and relax with no care about what anyone say. We love you man, see you in the next one

For what it’s worth, this video has been the first time I’ve been notified in almost half a year. I genuinely like your videos and they are top tier quality. Without proper notification you do get forgotten unfortunately. I hope YT fixes this. For my part, I’m going back and catch up on your vids…I do like them and I luv puzzles. I'm 53, came across a video of you years ago and you were solving a puzzle. No studio yet, no professional production. Just you and a puzzle. It was intimate and raw.
It was also a novelty in the sense I had never thought about puzzles as complex as this. I watched intensely interested and I subscribed.
As the years went by, the thought I had was, this puzzle isn't really that much different than that other puzzle. Eventually the surprises and limitations of new puzzles just fizzled away.
Your production had become huge and you got a new studio, and the quality of your videos became super professional. BUT the puzzles became one after the other like the one before.
Your editing and your production quality is not the problem. It's outstanding actually. It's the niche of puzzles. (I know you do magic as well obviously but I'm being honest from my perspective) My attention span for any video over 12 minutes is unable to continue. Family, work, blah blah and my time becomes a deficit I have to manage smartly.
Many people my age feel the same way about everything media now. Too much, too fast, too long. And the digital and information age has contributed to this. Our attention spans have winter away when we are now used to getting what we want instantly.
Your problems are existential you could say. Victimized by the merciless bombardment of the tic tok, Instagram, snap chat saturation.
If your videos hit that magic 12 minute mark, I would be far more inclined to click on and watch. I wholeheartedly believe I would feel the same enjoyment in that 12, even if it's edited, than a 30 minute video.
Just my perspective. I think you're excellent at what you do, a genuine good guy and I wish you the very best.

Partly I’m curbing my need to watch puzzle videos in part not to spoiler myself in case I ever do get one, but partly it’s also curbing the consumerism in me, if I don’t know, I won’t want to get them that kind of thing

This exactly. The puzzles got repetitive and sometimes the fancy shots made a simple puzzle seem overproduced. Usually I love the movie like quality but it's not always necessary. Even in a short video I think I would like more variation in content.
Chris, those who get THIS get YOU. As a creator and as an artist. You have provided videos that have done more then just what you maybe even intended them to do. You’ve given some of us a comfortable place to relax, to ponder, to relate to the struggles that we’re all going through. It’s been a great opportunity to just hop in your channel and just sit back while you entertainingly solve something none of us could ever do. Thank you for everything that you’ve done and thank you for all the people you’ve given an opportunity to just have break from this crazy and hard to grasp life. You don’t owe anyone anything. Whether you make a video tomorrow or a year from now I’ll still be so appreciative of everything you’ve accomplished and done so far. Thank you for it all, everything from the magic to the puzzles. It has given us an escape.
Here's my two cents worth you are literally the No1 magic/puzzle content creator not just on CZcams but the internet as a whole. No one else out there does what you do with such passion and professionalism your intros blow the competition out of the water. The community of people who love and thoroughly appreciate the entertainment you provide for them would be lost without you. It's not just you suffering this loss of exposure it's the same for many creators and it's not content specific many of which have exhausted all attempts to reach out to CZcams to fix this but I don't believe even CZcams themselves know what's causing it...hope that helps

I'm so in awe of the content you and your team creates it's insane the level of quality and theatricality that you do for your videos. I’ve followed for years. I love the style, content, products, viewpoints, etc. This video is the first one that CZcams has pushed into my recommendation in weeks if not months. This video is the first deep emotional connection I have felt in ages with your content. Don’t get me wrong, I love the puzzles, the magical friends, the locations. But this is the Chris Ramsey that I have watched for years and have the deepest respect for. Your words nail my experience exactly. I faded off watching his videos as religiously as I used to years ago (for no particular reason, my tastes just kinda rolled along), but I've always thought highly of him and felt a sincere intention about remaining a subscriber, so I've been around in my idle way ... Yet yeah, this video was the first non-short to get pushed into my home feed in ages. Maybe there's something to be said for changing it up and experimenting with different tones and themes instead of just always trying to one-up oneself ... and I imagine that's part of it, but also I like to think this video is blowing up because his fan base truly cares about him and is supportive of this vulnerable moment. And yeah, this is the kind of candor I remember really connecting with in his content a few years ago. I'm grateful to be here and see this.
I'm so glad he chose to share these thoughts, not just because we ALL need to be more open about this kind of discourse and he's raising important observations about the content creation sector, but especially because I believe it was a wise choice for his own health and sanity. I really hope he benefits greatly from speaking on this level and from taking a VERY well-deserved, VERY hard-earned, high-quality break.

I honestly think it’s just CZcams screwing him over, cuz me and my wife love watching his videos but when we scroll through CZcams the past few months, he stopped getting recommended and I didn’t realize until now

You do so much for the youtube world, dude. Don't ever forget what your videos do beyond the views. Your content (and I mean YOURS specifically) instructs, inspires, makes people wonder, laugh, cry even? Your channel is a fucking gem in the sea of youtube oblivion out there. The views may be declining, but I would bet that the number of meaningful views that you get (views from people that your videos actual impact) is increasing. I feel it bro. I feel it through the fucking screen when you make an intro that just blows my fucking mind. And it just makes me want to create, or sometimes it just makes me feel good, so I watch it again. That shit is gold, my friend!

youtube is a trap, obviously my answer could mean nothing to a lot of creators, but i stopped trying 90% of the random side projects (hard goods, courses, etc etc) and just focused on videos, which is terrifying because it feels like there's more pressure on the videos to do well, and i feel like it's a bit easier to see through the haze when you're only doing the thing you're best at.
Agreed. I’m not a content creator, but a viewer. I prefer the simple, puzzle-solving, videos.

I feel this for my own channel/content on so many levels dude. I have no answers, no advice, just wanted to share I'm feeling so much of the same shit and it sucks. I hope things get better for both of us man!
As a viewer, not even a content creator, there is just so much. I sometimes catch myself just scrolling and catching someone I've been following for years like, "oh shit, I haven't watched this person in a while" and then catch up on content and find myself missing out on other content I enjoy. Just not enough hours. I just feel like youtube is just hitting that peak where there just isn't enough eyes/bodies/time to accommodate even the people that have a massive amount of subscribers. But I will check your channel out and hope everything balances out for you guys !

I feel you on this. The same thing happened to my channel of 4 million subscribers over the last several years. We tried everything we could to make the videos better and better and we had the same result you are talking about here. It's soul crushing. I feel for you totally on this and not really sure what the way out is. I never figured it out myself. How I learned to be ok with it, which might be helpful to you, is that CZcams views are not a reflection of your talent or efforts in any way.
You make high quality content thats engaging and fun...and always will be. You are a champion. Myself and many others are rooting for you to succeed.

@@blackmage471 I think also its more about whats going on in the world today and our personal lives(the struggles, depression, work, etc) - Everything is getting more difficult and more expensive these days to run a normal life style....so with that in mind yes there is allot of wealthy people that don't have to work so hard but yet there is also people that have to work 2x jobs to keep things going....Working 2 x jobs or working extra hours for a few bucks more than what we did a year or two ago it means less time for youtube...less time for sitting in front of a phone or a PC which leads to less views or less engaging views. As Alex said above it has nothing to do with a reflection of your talent or your videos people are just in different mind sets as to what they want to watch and a certain hobby doesn't last forever....One day you can be into cycling the next month you into golf or scuba so as the hobby changes or your own personal life your views goes somewhere else. Verry difficult indeed my heart bleeds for the content creators that puts in so much effort and don't always get out what they put in.

When I am, I watch every magic video you post in a sequence. But tbh I'm not that into Puzzles and I'm not the "bell guy", that watches the videos when they drop.
I'm not planning on unsubscribing of your channel any time soon because your are unique.

This is so true, yet I love puzzle videos and used to watch all of them, but totally honest I forgot about Chris, I haven't been getting notifications for a long time but good thing this video pulled up in my scroll feed, I checked and the bell was on for personalized notifications, my best idea as believe it or not I've watched many of my favorite content creaters go through this that are not on the a list lvl, but it always works out, God will walk with you, but something everyone I've seen do is try different stuff, idk if you know George Janko but hes a vlogger and he too got burnt out a while ago, he took a break and came back then got into stand up comedy and it really took off for him in that area!! Now he's even made his own movie and doing his own comedy shows, now you don't have to stop but other ventures is a great idea to do something fresh and fun and rejuvenate your creativity even if it is or isn't magic its up to you, and in turn that will get you more noticed and push your drive back up, even if the cost is less videos, also collaborations is a very good way to boost yourself reach out to ppl that aren't in the magic community, but whatever it is I'm sure all 7 million of us had a reason to click subscribe in the first place and all of us are rooting for you even if they didn't get to see this video, they like you, so whatever it is you choose to do just keep reminding yourself where you came from in the beginning and find a way to scare yourself again to do something uncomfortable but exciting, because we learn our biggest lessons in our darkest places, I wish you all the luck in the world Chris and Sharshock I don't know you but you too, make a diamond❤

I have always used your content to relax to which is why I love it. But I can see why that doesn’t suit CZcams’s algorithm & most viewers attention span. This is actually so sad, I hadn’t noticed the views dropping, I hadn’t even looked, I just assumed they were growing because the content kept getting bigger and better. I just know that you are one of my favorite CZcamsrs to watch and I think one of the very few people who hold a place in my mind, where your content feels more special, not falling into the trope of constant stimulation like almost all videos are going towards. I LOVE that it’s not the fast paced overstimulated content that preys on young kids and adults. You’ll probably never see this, but your channel has made a profound impact on my life. I’ve been in to puzzling since I was a kid (currently already pushed forty), so your channel - with its incredible production value - has been a real treat for years. But when you published the lock picking video years ago it dawned on me that locks are also intricate puzzles. Started to get invested into that, and subscribed to channels like LPL. It really sparked a fire, and look at me now: I’m a certified locksmith. YOU set the wheels in motion for that. I’m grateful for your channel, and it’s a highlight in my evening routine when you posted another puzzle episode (either here or on your second channel). Anyway, I feel you. I’ve been in that place once too many. It sucks. But know that what you do is of great value to a lot of people, despite what the algorithms make you believe.
Inspired by your comment. I'm 43 and have had an intrest in locks/puzzles since I was a kid. Wanted to let you know that I've dabbled in it but never commited to the hobby. For whatever it's worth, finding you and Wes a few years ago helped me through two or three of the toughest years of my life. I was a caretaker for my father who was very sick with Alzheimer's and the magic and puzzle videos were so therapeutic to my frazzled and broken heart. He passed away January 8th. I don't think I could have held it together without these videos.

As a digital creator, I think you are responsible for the most real, creative and alive content on the platform. I have several people hired, I live in a very expensive country and here the monetization is about 10 times less than in English-speaking countries. I am forced to publish 1 reel, 1 tiktok, 1 video, 1 short and 1 story daily, and despite having been on the internet for 9 years, I still enjoy it because I have combined my personal happiness and my vital needs with the passage of time. the levels of perfectionism and care that you put into details are not complemented by the "obligation" imposed by current media to generate viral content and, above all, in large doses. I can perfectly understand your frustration after publishing a "film" that has hours and even days of illusion, elaboration and work, so that it is not shared correctly because the platform needs more, more and more. Whatever you decide, those of us who commonly consume, appreciate and value your content will continue to do so with the same enthusiasm. You have been and are an inspiration to many, Chris, and sometimes in life you have to walk in directions that are scary because they are not illuminated. you have the potential and the ability to be the light that you need. You don't necessarily need to do all of that everyday. You have a rating from the algorithm that tells it how many people to impress it on. If you created one solid video every week, released it on a consistent deadline, and the videos appeal to your base, then you can drive just as many views as you get with 1/7th the content. Good examples of this are Captain Disillusion, Warrior Poet Society, Mr. Ballen. You can make it with minimal content as long as you make the videos you make appeal to your audience. Yeah for real, not only did he provide really heartfelt and meaningful personal perspective, but also he very eloquently nailed some serious broader points that are affecting millions of people. Humanity has never had an industry sector quite like this before. I'm grateful we have people like Chris pointing out vital observations like these while the entire content creator population continues to cautiously navigate uncharted and often murky waters.
Chris should consider creating a Patreon or some other way to generate more income from his audience. There are plenty of ways he could benefit his audience and, in turn, increase his revenue.
Entrepreneurship can be seen as a puzzle, and Chris is a master problem solver, able to create the pieces as he goes. For example, he could create a $25 per month Patreon course where he sends little cardboard puzzles to his audience, along with a custom video. He could also offer a Patreon level where his thousands of followers can log in for a big group event, watching him perform a MAGIC SHOW. This Patreon could cost $10 per month, like a ticket, or potentially even more.
Chris is a magician, after all! Just look at Penn and Teller or David Blaine. Some may criticize him for "selling out," but what he would really be doing is providing more value to his audience and exponentially growing his revenue.
The ultimate goal should be to cultivate a loyal fan base, consisting of one thousand true customers. Given Chris's track record of producing quality products, this should be an achievable target. Once he reaches this goal, he can generate $15-50k per month, allowing him to focus on his creative projects and let the magic happen.
I did notice that Chris does have a Patreon, but it appears to be related to his podcast rather than magic. To maximize his potential, he should focus on creating more magic-related content and expanding his Patreon offerings accordingly.

I’ve seen other successful creators go through this and had to create multiple channels just to get the views. For what it's worth, this was the first video in my feed today, 7 DAYS after you posted it. That's not an algorithm flaw; I just literally haven't opened CZcams since you posted this.
I love your content and always have. Love the puzzles you solve, love your personality, love that you share more just the "good" moments in a raw, heartfelt way.
That said, *I'M* burnt out, overwhelmed, stressed to the point that I'm more than likely doing permanent damage to my mind/body, and very much on the brink of a breakdown myself. That doesn't mean I enjoy your content any less than I used to, but it does mean that I'm not really in the state of mind to go seeking out happy, upbeat content much lately. Matter of fact, this is the first video I've watched at all in probably 2 weeks.
I subscribed to your channel at a point in life where I had 8 hours a day to just veg out and watch puzzle videos. In comparison, I literally have not stepped foot outside of my house to see sunshine in 2+ months because I'm constantly working (vitamin D supplements FTW).
I wish I could be here for every video every time, but I'm having a hard time just finding a few moments to eat something every day lol
My point is that everyone is weathering their own storm and in a different season of life. I'm sure others like myself WANT to watch your content but just aren't always able to make it happen. Hell, I guarantee all 7+ million of your subscribers don't even open CZcams every week. It truly sucks that you're left feeling the negative impact of that, but please know that it isn't because you're doing anything wrong.
Please continue doing what you love and do it at a pace that's comfortable. That's what your audience will respond positively to, and eventually so will the algorithm (source: me, an ex-Google employee 🤓)

This is my opinion, 100%. I find Chris' videos enthralling and top quality. But I don't have time during this phase in my life to a) watch a lot of content and b) go out of my way to find the content I do have time to watch.
I do hope he continues doing these videos, and I hope I get to a point where I have time to watch them.

Hey man. As viewers I feel like we get so used to thinking that the people we subscribe to will be around next time we get the urge to watch them. But we forget that people like you do this every single week with no knowledge of what exactly everyone is interested in at that given moment. To me you are the "puzzle magic guy", and when I'm in the mood for puzzles and magic I swing around. I'm not always in the mood for puzzles and magic, but I also don't want the "puzzle magic guy" to fade away because I didn't watch him enough. It's an interesting dilemma, because your subscribers do love your content, all of your content no matter how simple, they just don't want that content all of the time. But us subscribers need to keep in mind that in order for your content to continue to exist, we need to pop in more then we currently do.

Chris, you hit the nail on the head. There are so many creators and so much content now, the algorithm is essentially broken...hard to get videos pushed anymore...not enough screen space!

As a content creator I totally feel this and I'm no where near his level. I have 50k subs and will put my heart and soul into a video, feel like it's my best one yet, and then have it tank. It's heart wrenching. When you see that view graph start tapering off you know it's not going to do well. YT gives you one shot to do well and if it doesn't hit, it's over. No way to repair it. Change thumbnail and title all day long won't matter. I used to think "If I just make good content the views will eventually come" and it's just not so. And even when a video does do well only 5% of my subs have watched it. Last week I was seriously wanting to instead of saying "please consider subscribing", saying "please consider UNsubscribing".
I only found your channel a few weeks ago, and was hooked from the get-go.
Your video quality is astounding, and although I’m not a digital creator, I do make physical art, and I so appreciate the effort you go to, with the magic of your storytelling.
I feel like all artists go through struggles similar to this.
You might find that a break will help you get to a new place and I hope that, at the very least, you are able to re-charge.

Hi Chris, i used to watch a tonne, i hadnt watched in a while, no particular reason i guess, but came back to the channel and realised why i loved watching your content in the first place.
Your pacing, its not everything all the time, its not loud or over the top for no reason, it is what it needs to be. Its on the nose everytime, genuine human reactions to cool and interesting things.

I'll check in on your content from time to time. When I first discovered your content, discovery is what allured me. Solving puzzles is an incredibly niche subcategory of youtube. I think forming sustainability for something as niche as puzzles is nearly impossible, but you've done better than I think anyone could expect. Hey chris i've been watching your videos for a while and i can say that they have been helping me mentally i know life is though and we go through so much that it's hard to put in words but we have to be strong and your a strong person i could never do the things you do i work in hospital and the things i have to deal with everyday i can't help but cry sometimes...and i get home put youtube on and see your videos it puts a smile on face even if it's one day at a time it helps to get out of the dark for a bit b4 going back to realty so please don't leave your awesome at what you do.

I connect with this on many levels, so I appreciate the realism, the honesty. I had not followed to be honest, but I had just now thought of the videos I had watched from you, and the puzzles in general. I’m glad I saw this, had the random thought, and will catch up on stuff. I try to distance myself every now and then from the internet as I feel it drains me, and I can only try to begin to fathom how much it takes to do it constantly, especially with something as stressful on the mind. Just know your videos impacted me enough to look for you, and to look for a video. Hope you’re well

For me this is the first video by him that has appeared on my home page or subscriptions page in a very very long time and I’ve watched cause it was there. I’ve been subscribed for years and used to watch every video and they would be all over my home page and stuff then they just stopped showing up there so I didn’t watch as much cause I had to specifically search him and go to the channel and watch the videos whereas all the other channels I subscribe to the videos are right there one click away.

I am not anywhere nearly as successful as you on here, but can completely understand what it feels like to be a creative person that enjoys feeling the rewards for the effort you put in. I can see it in your eyes, that feeling of waking up after 12 hours of sleep and feeling like you got 2 hours of sleep. It is so hard and there isn't an easy answer.
