      @SSW777 Před měsícem +7

      I think if you laughed then you kinda missed the point of the scene and the characters of Levi and Zeke.
      The death was supposed to be cathartic and unsatisfactory because Zeke willingly did it.

    • @_mys
      @_mys Před měsícem +4

      @@SSW777 I didn't see it as unsatisfactory at all. Levi truly wanted to fulfill his final order and he FINALLY got to do it, that's pretty satisfying to me. He almost looked liked he was in a trance showing how deeply he felt that kill. Since nothing mattered to him more in that moment than Zeke dying, it doesn't matter if Zeke was willing or not. Zeke's will was never part of Erwin's order, the point was that he finally completed the last loose end for Erwin.

    Thank you for the journey, the whole experience to re-watch AoT for the 38277 times. As a manga reader I feel satisfied with the anime ending. Levi lives on as the last of the old guard, to pass the story to the future generations, as we can see that he lives in Marley with Gaby, Falco, Onya, and Yelena. I am so happy for them. I suddenly remember that several years ago I decided to drop the manga because I thought levi is died, but then I picked the manga again after hearing from the AoT community that he is still alive. I am glad that Levi manages to keep fighting, keep moving forward despite everything that happened in his live. Post war, he still helps the conservationist to restore the environment after the rumbling. He is such a great character at least for me. And I am happy I always root for him from the start till the end. Sayonara again to Levi, Gaby, Falco, and all Attack on Titan characters. Thank you Isayama.

    I think the coolest thing about this finale is that it wasn’t just that Eren saw the future, but rather, that someone with so much rage and hate in his heart had the power to see the future, because he could only aim towards a future where his desires were fulfilled. Especially his childhood desires: an empty world outside the walls and a world without titans. How he achieved this is the problem, but I do see Eren as the result of his surroundings, and a bigger allegory of how the hate we carry and the traumas we instil on the younger generation will create cycles of hatred and violence. Eren is the epitome of this: a man with all the power, being guided by his childhood dreams and traumas.
    We can’t justify what Eren does, but we can’t also separate Eren from the world he was born and raised in. Same way we all have the risk of becoming ‘painter people’, we also have to see Eren as a reflection of us and wonder: am I fighting for my dreams in the right way? Is my happiness coming at the expenses of someone else’s? Am I being naive in how I pursue my dreams? Am I being too shortsighted?
    That’s why I think Eren’s character is brilliant: because we have followed him for the entire show and can understand him so well, which is why this tragic turn into villainy opens our eyes into what the story was really about.

    Levi just parried attacks from a Jaw Titan. Let's ignore for a moment the sheer fact that shifters can lift hundreds of tons and Levi had to somehow achieve this without these attacks breaking his every bone on contact. But most of all, Jaw is the most agile titan with the greatest destructive capabilities. His claws can literally shred right through crystallized armor. Levi couldn't just block these attacks, he had to carefully redirect slashes away by catching them with his swords. and he does it all mid-flight. Levi is simply BROKEN!

    Can we all just appreciate the role Captain Levi played from beginning to end? He grew up in underground city, lost his mother at an early age, was acknowledged and mentored by his Uncle Kenny and Erwin. He was given a chance to make a difference in the world, take on titans and fight for humanity. He has lost friend after friend and had been hurting inside for so long but he still kept fighting and kept moving forward. Even when he had to help take the life of a young man who he probably saw himself in, he had finally reached a point where he could rest and be content with the fact that he gave his heart for humanity. Long live the strongest soldier, Levi Ackerman.

    Jaw titan is the fastest, most agile titan, with most destructive claws, and Levi casually blocks a combo of his attacks holding his sword with 3 fingers of a single hand. I used to think Spiderman vs Levi was not fair because of how strong Spidey is, but after seeing this, I'm pretty sure Levi would outmatch Spidey too. Levi is basically someone with Captain Americas powers with Spidey's spider sense with gear that echoes Spidey's web slinging alongside being grumpy and insanely skilled.

There are some who believe that the titans will return, but they were born by the psyche, fears and desires of Ymir Fritz... as Zeke said. Therefore the titans will not return, since they were born by the desire of a slave girl with fears... the child at the end is the complete opposite, he is a free adventurer with a friend who is a dog... different from Ymir who A dog was chasing her to kill her.

    You should read the lyrics to the ending credits song, "To you from 2000 or 20.000 years ago", it gives a lot of context to what happens during those last scenes. But basically, the kid at the end finds himself calmy in front of the same type of tree that Ymir found herself in ( now it's the tree where Eren was buried ), without him running away from fear, which leads us to think; whatever he found inside the tree, might of gave him a power different to Ymir, possibly something out of hope. Not confirmed, but it's a great theory given the way the kid emotions were portrayed during those last seconds.

    The Way I interpreted the Mikasa Eren scene, was if she did say”I love you” , or something instead of “family”, Eren would of run away with her. it’s also possible he knew she wouldn’t say it from his memories, and he wanted to confirm it.

      Yeah tho he knows Mikasas not gonna run away with him, he just wants to spend time with Mikasa b4 he dies. 4yrs is fast in the real world. Mikasas memories cant be altered so he did it real time when its shown to us. Thats y after the "4yrs" Mikasa woke up and knew exactly that Eren was in the mouth.
      A lot of people say aot isn't a love story. But this show is absolutely one of the most beautiful love story ever told. No matter the ending.

      @@storieswithstyle i never thought about that being a world made by yimir before you mentioned it. But thinking about your theory, now i feel less certain about what i thought before. my only hold up is i just dont see reason why yimir would be the one to create those worlds in the paths for mikasa. its not hinted at in the scenes either. no silhouettes of yimir, or her in the back ground watching like she is in other scenes she has some part in. like when the past titans all show up, they make it clear that its yimirs doing, and for ppl who dont catch that, they even have armen say it later. but thats my only hold up for that theory. the fore shadowing in this show is so good, that even in the ova, i think they woulda snuck in a hint its her somewhere. it makes sense to me that it would be eren doing it, just because he wants to have a good bye with her, and tell her to forget about him. its his attempt to set her free from her devotion to him. i need to brain storm more on the subject. especially about the logistics of that scene and eren becoming colossal in size. possibly lingering founder power like after he punched dinas hand in S2 final. when hes running away and makes titans attack riner n bert.

    Eren orchestrating this to kill all the Titan as he did say from the begging.
    Also Ackerman are immune from memory removal so this means that Eren showed Mikasa all of their life together until he passed at that moment in Time.
    Eren was on a Titans Mouth on Season 1 and he said there is no way he will die in a place like that.
    Eren literally died on a Titans mouth.

    If you ever see this I just wanna thank u for reacting and commenting on this series.
    You might not have been the biggest AOT reaction guy view numbers wise, but you were certainly my favorite and I loved all of your analysis, predictions, and overall comments, not even once did I even thought skipping any part of your videos, I will forever hold these videos close to me as a reaction and review of someone over analytic just like me who actually taught me stuff of the series I had rewatched plenty of times yet thanks to you I could still discover new stuff to be amazed at in the writing, you even noticed stuff I hadn't seen any other reactors comment on and each time I was so glad to see you comment on the same little details I love about this story, it really made me feel close to you personality wise.

    It wasn't Ymir that showed Mikasa's the dream, it was Eren. That was an alternate future that would have happened if Mikasa said "I love you" instead of "we are family", but Eren chose to End the Power of Titans with Rumbling. Like Eren and Zeke wandered for years in Grisha's memory, Eren and Mikasa did spent those 4 years in the Paths. Everything happens in an instant in the Paths.
    The most brilliant thing about Isayama is, he was FUCKING 19 YEARS OLD when he conjured this story! He definitely had a big draft drawn up, planned everything and worked backwards. INCREDIBLE GENIUS.

All the praise for Isayama, the voice actors, the animators, and the music composers for making this amazing show. Rewatching it only increased my opinion of the show that was already very high. It's actually insane that Isayama started this story when he was 19 years old and it's his first and only work.

    One of the best reviews of the Attack on Titan ending I've seen. I'm so glad you got the message, because some people weren't too happy with the ending. They thought Eren’s character was just ruined in the end. Its not. But the reality and Eren’s tragedy - he was always like this. He's just a kid who never grew and with a personality disorder. His character’s growth is that he was at least be able to admit it to himself in a dialogue with Armin. Which is unusual for people with personality disorders.

    I'm not sure if I'd agree with the way you see Eren's "plan". For one, it is repeatedly spelled out that either Eldians become mass murderers or the World eradicates all eldians, there was only ever a choice between different types and timelines of a genocide or a series of genocides, Eren really didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to see his people, his friends live ...Eren's goal was reached, he spells out what he wants in S04-P1-E10 at 18:10 "So, I want you to have long lives." All he wanted was a complete life of peace for his friends(well, as many of them as possible), and he was promised a path towards it, and followed it, since the alternative was them dying in wars or a series of genocides... that's it... yes, he is a selfish mass murderer, but he did it for his friends... it also meant the power of Titans will be eradicated, but that was probably of secondary importance to him... For Yimir I think(have no proof) it was important that when she seizes to exist her "children"(all eldians) have a fighting chance against the world... so the world was leveled. When Eren and Ymir is gone the world is equalized, ground 0. Everybody is free and has "equal" chance of "winning"... as we can see in the after credits scene, it ends with the world eradicating Eldia... Let's not kid ourselves, the world (ours too, obviously) is and for the foreseeable future will be a "Kill or be killed" world...

    Ymir doesn't have as much power as you think. Although she holds the ability to decide who can use the Founding Titan's power, she seemingly cannot use some of its main abilities such as erasing memories or showing future memories to past users, or else she would have already seen the future. In the end, she decides to let go of the power of the Titans because she sees Mikasa kissing Eren after she decided to kill him, which I think is meant to show Ymir that you can still love someone by letting them go. Ymir is smiling when she sees this btw
    Ymir watched Mikasa like she's been watching all Eldians throughout these 2000 years, however it is my belief that the headaches are linked to trauma rather than Ymir watching the world through Mikasa's eyes. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Ymir to choose Mikasa to observe - how could she have known how special Mikasa would turn out to be before it happened? If Ymir could see the future, I don't think she would get convinced to end the world by Eren if she didn't already want to.
    Another thing. The memory Mikasa had of her living with Eren is quite ambiguous and without a proper explanation but here's my take on it:
    Whilst on the boat to Ohida, Eren brought Mikasa (and everyone else) to the Paths. Eren brought Mikasa to the moment where he asks her "What am I to you?" and she says tells him they can run away together. For the next few months, live together in that cabin on the mountains "playing along" with the narrative they chose to go with, and trying their best to forget about the real world which is why Eren mentions that Mikasa said they wouldn't talk about "that stuff". Eren knows Mikasa is struggling with her choice to kill him in real life so that's why he reminds her when he told her to forget him, just to give her that final push. Eren's titan markings appear at the end of that long dream because that indicates when he is using the Founding Titan's power. They showed up when he was about to erase Armin's memories. In this instance they appear when he is sending that memory to the future Mikasa who is riding on Falco in the real world.
    To me this explanation works otherwise the alternative is Eren manipulated Mikasa's memories in some way, which would not make sense as it was established that Mikasa is of not one but TWO of the races that are immune to the Founding Titan's memory manipulation.
    I use the words "real world" to describe the world not in the Paths, however I think it is better to think of the Paths as a completely different world entirely, and not just something in Eldian's heads as they are able to think and feel in the Paths while time is flows differently in the other.
    It's been established that you can (or at least the people in AOT) can survive for a few moments after being decapitated, so I believe it's safe to say that Eren survived at least long enough to feel Mikasa's kiss after his head was cut off, which is why the Paths exist for a few more moments after his head is severed
    The only memories Eren had access to before he gained the full power of the Founding Titan were the memories that himself from the future (Founding Titan Eren) showed to Grisha in the crysal cave to manipulate him into killing the royal family. When Eren touched Historia's hand in S3, he saw only the memories that were specifically chosen to push Grisha over the edge. Those memories were the only glimpses into the future that Eren knew about. He did not know everything which is why he would "test" it out every now and then. One example *could* be when he asks Connie if Sasha had any last words. It's possible that future Eren showed Grisha Sasha's death and Eren wanted to test if he already knew. He starts laughing not because he finds her last words funny but because just like him laughing at the end of S2, "nothing changed". As in, the memories played out exactly the same way as when he saw them.

    • @storieswithstyle
      @storieswithstyle  Před měsícem

      I do not think that eren sent the bizarro world. Mikasa just not telling anyone without it being stated somehow would be weird. So from that I think the fact that a) eren di dnot have founder anymore as the memories happened (if we do not place them at the time where Armin and co. get theirs) and Ymir did give a bizarro world before (if you buy that ymir is the butterlfly in lost girls, where she has headaches with the fruit I think and it is revealed there was another ymir interference). Just my current take on it, though. I think Ymir was intrested in mikasa first because she was so good at fighting and perhaps a potential role-model as a "strong woman" and when she realised that they were both in toxic relationships she followed her along. As the paths are timelss, that might have happened after we see her get agency from eren. She did not necessarily see all eldians, but as Eren did have Mikasa and Armin in mind somewhat I think it is reasinable to assume she would take a look at them first as she might have wanted to see what terrors he lived through. All conjecture of course :D

Understanding Ymir that quickly is honestly impressive. I've also loved seeing you ask for certain character moments well in advance, and the reaction of having them delivered.
    Internet discourse is unfortunately filled with people who didn't catch on, who just wanted to see their cool edgy Eren be the saviour of Eldia, and as such hate the ending, the pathetic idiot admitting what he is. But when you understand the themes it's such a well told story.

  • @vincentvieille5996
    @vincentvieille5996 Před měsícem +4

    Well we desagree on some points of the story but overhall it was very interesting to watch your reaction. I think you were too much comparing painter people with the anime, because i do think some characters are not like painter people, even if they are in indeed evil. But about factual plot you didn't noticed :
    There is the Mikasa's dream. It was Eren who were talking to Mikasa. And it was indeed four years of a dream. In the Paths, time is different. You could say Eren was already dead since he entered the Paths. So he can do what he want. You could even say the Rumbling was happening because of dead people who were driven by negative feelings. That you knew later.
    Eren in the very begenning of the show saw his own death from Mikasa's hand, when he was in the dream. Mikasa's love was impossible from the begining. Even if the dream was true, he will only live four years. That's why Eren didn't chose Mikasa. He know that he will die soon. It's one of the main part of why he didn't chose Mikasa over his destructive dream of freedom.
    Also, Eren was able to built a dream for Mikasa before she killed him. And if she knew where he was, the only possibility is that Eren actually said it to her. There wasn't any erased memories for her. The whole show, you watched it with a bad translation about that, and a for others things too.
    Second fact, he knew that his actions will erase the power of titans. He said he knew the outcome of Mikasa's action, even if he did not see what was the action. He only knew that he needed to create a situation where Mikasa will have to do a similar choice as Ymir. He knew all that. And this is why he pushed aways his friends. He needed them to fight him, and to hurt Mikasa.
    Third fact. All the birds we saw in the show were Eren seeing the world through time. It's not showed in the manga. But in the manga, a lot of Eren memories are from the sky's point of view. For ex when Falco was looking at a bird in the first episode of season 4, it was Eren. There is an Eren's memory of that, from the bird's eyes. Also, the name of the bird in the very end is Yeager... He obtained his ultimate freedom now ... This is all he ever wanted.
    Bad translation for Eren about his determinist state. You should defenitely found an official translation. That one is not the one of the dvd.
    An anime i found very similar to Snk on the theme of war, there is'' 86'' a good anime. But not as good as Snk in my opinion. Still very good and interesting for you. I think.
    Did you watch GOT ? I think it could be a very interesting reaction, on the character's writing.

    • @storieswithstyle
      @storieswithstyle  Před měsícem

      Oh, that was my point, it might have been not conveyed well. I just use painter people as a stand in for extremists as they are the best documented and well known to me. =)
      1. I do not think Eren did that dream. Ymir is currently my only logical conclusion as a) Eren loses founder with Zekes death and b) ymir sent another bizarro world in lost girls 3.
      2. I do not see how he knew that titan powers would be erased. Only logical argument for that is that he can not see into the future beyond his death. But I think that might be enough to argue it.
      3. That sounds really cool, I wish that would have been made more explicitly. But I love that idea. =)
      I did watch GOT and read the books and loved the show season 1-4 but it fell down the drain a lot writing wise after that (though there were great moments like Hodor still) =)

      @@storieswithstyle 1 --I don't know about who made the dream. But the actual Eren was in it, because it was linked to his dream in the very first episode. If i had to guess, Ymir was giving them a little moment before they Say goodbye. And Eren saw that dream in the very first episode. You don't know because you are anime only. But Eren was akening from this dream in the first episode, because he saw that Mikasa's hair changed after he saw her. Conclusion, it was not a false Eren. It was the actual Eren saying goodbye to Mikasa. When he was in the titan, he was also in the dream. As Mikasa was. Mikasa killed Eren and kissed only Eren in the dream, dying. In reality it's his head but ... She was seeing him in the dream. And the only possible reason for her to know where Eren is, it's because of Eren. Also, Eren said to Mikasa to forgot him, so that she'll have the strength to do what need to be done. It was something he already wished way before, that Mikasa free herself from him. It was said by fangirl Mikasa, dont remember her name, that Eren wanted Mikasa to forgot him. He trully wanted her to let go of him.
      2--It's a fact that Eren knew for the titan's powers gone. It's him who revealed that to Armin, remember. Eren said It's because Ymir wasn't able to let go of her love, that titan's powere continued to exist. Basically, you'll know that to free Ymir will remove titan's powers. Later, he explained that Mikasa will do something that he don't know, that will free Ymir. To Armin he said '' what i know for certain is the outcome Mikasa will bring about with her choices. '' later Armin talked to Mikasa and he said . '' Eren said to me that the outcome you'll bring about with your choices is to erase titan's power from the World. '' Here the proof. Armin litterally said that.

    • @vincentvieille5996
      @vincentvieille5996 Před měsícem

      @@storieswithstyle About Eren being the birds. There is several things that implied that, but very small and not clear. The scene with Armin and Annie on the boat for exemple. It's the moment when Eren talked to Armin and erased his memories. But did you see the bird on the boat ? If you come back to this moment in the first movie, Armin was talking to Annie and then saw the bird just next to him. He watched the bird, saying something about ''i hope there is something more to discover'' and then the bird watched him. After that, the bird's picture switched to Eren's face in the titan's mouth. By scenary, the scene implied that Eren was watching Armin through the bird's eyes. Eren had even his eyes in the same direction and angle from the bird, to reinforce the link. It's not a fact, this part. But in the manga it's IS. it's more obvious, because we had time to see all memories. It's not in movement After all. Some were from bird's point of view. That's why a lot of manga reader's thought that Eren became a bird.
      There is also one more thing to consider. The parasite was connected to Eren, directly. But this parasite has the power to make wishes Come true. If Eren's wish was to be free, it's not out of the question that it gave him the power to be the birds. Ymir's wish was to possess a stronger and immortal body, and yo escape death. Then, this parasite IS only some sort of Jinn. And it gave Eren a power only for him. That last part is only a theory. Even if WE know for sure the bird in the end IS named Yeager. There is a lot of things going into that. But there IS not factual proofs. We only know that it's possible, and that it was implied, even if not in clear ways.

    the ram is mr ksaver, id also be really interested in manga videos. being able to match isayamas art to the story feels even more special, on top of the changes that are worth seeing

    zeke's nihilism vs armin's existentialism was an interesting conversation

    • @rmg480
      @rmg480 Před měsícem +7

      Bad nihilism to be clear, he's falling in the fatalist pitfall that many people fall into when trying to understand nihilism. You could argue that true nihilism isn't even that far from existentialism.

      Yeah, zeke did not really believe in it (if you say you do not believe in stuff when you don't act accordingly and he still treasured the glasses and baseball) =)

    Auch wenn ich erst vor Kurzem zugestossen bin, möchte ich mich herzlich bei dir bedanken. Dich auf dieser Reise zu begleiten, hat mich meine Lieblingsserie nochmal neu erleben lassen, dafür bin ich sehr dankbar. Keine andere Person auf CZcams konnte ihre Gedanken zu AoT so schön ausformulieren wie du. DANKE

    The person who rewrote ending was basically someone who was pissed that Eren wasn't a chad alpha male. The alternate ending was just Eren successfully killing everyone, iirc

    It was an absolute pleasure to follow your reactions to this amazing story. You were most likely the reactor I appreciated the most, for you did not simply watch the show but truly processed each scene with care and intelligence.
    I want to thank you for that, sincerely.
    Wish you the best for the future 🫶🏼
