Welcome back! Today I thought we'd have a lil chat all about being a CZcamsR and what it actually means. It occurred to me that there's lots of unknown things about being a CZcamsr that you cant just google.. So today I AM GOOGLE!!

love the vid and you... however just because you work a 9-5 job and don't work for yourself doesn't mean you're working towards someone else's dream. Someone else may own the company but my dream isn't to own the company. Life and career aspirations aren't always to 'get to the top', you might just want to succeed in your field.
Also the large majority of people in the UK are not and will never be privileged enough to work anything but a 9-5. It’s not a choice x
I have to completely disagree with you in saying it’s more work than a 9-5 job. I’m a recent dental graduate and my 9-5 involves seeing sometimes as many as 30 patients, doing intricate procedures, writing up detailed patient notes. I also never stop thinking about my work... have I made the right decisions for my patients etc. I’d say because you’ve never had a 9-5 job you couldn’t really say it’s more work.
I totally agree. I was in the military for four years and I worked for 0730-1730, with jam packed days and I refuse to believe that this job is less work than an online influencer like she is trying to suggest. And like you said, I didn't stop thinking about it when I got home either and often ended up going into work in the evening again.
I think she means more that running one or several businesses is the same as a 9-5. Would people tell owners of small-medium business that are currently taking off that their work is less than a 9-5? It’s because her public work (videos) doesn’t seem ‘hard’ to people, but they forget all the work behind the scenes that goes into running a business and being self employed (people who are self employed also have to sort their own tax, which in a 9-5 more often than not an employer takes care of, there is no sick pay, etc). She doesn’t just do CZcams, she has partnerships with brands, e.g. L’Oréal, that are outside of CZcams, copious amounts of work have to go into just securing partnerships. CZcams is different to anything we’ve seen before, and on the front it does look easy, which is why people dislike it so much. I do agree however, that Emily wouldn’t know how much work a 9-5 is, having never worked one. All 9-5’s are different, admin work is less taxing than dentistry or military work, props to anyone who works hard for their money.
One last thing, I think that she is a very, very, very privileged young woman, who doesn’t always come across like she knows it. Most of the UK don’t have the choice to move to London at 16 and be supported by their parents for 6 months. She’s where she is today due to her privilege, and she’s built upon it.
You can’t say that either though, when you haven’t experienced being a full time CZcamsr
Dragon Fly do you do the same job? You wouldn’t know. Neither would I, but that doesn’t mean she should be attacked for relaying her own job experiences.
I disagree with what you said about CZcams being more difficult than a 9-5 job. You talked about how you tend to work all day but that is your choice and you have the flexibility to pick and choose when you work unlike others. Also I feel as if you do spend a large proportion of your time on holiday where you do work which is a privilege many 9-5 workers don’t get to experience.
Plus youtubers tend to get gifted holidays so they dont have to pay for the large proportion of the cost however when your in a 9-5 job you have to pay for all the expenses.
I 100% agree. Not to mention those people who work extra hours or even those people who work a 9-5 job but with years of education, training and qualifications. She is privileged compared to millions of others and is in no position to compare her CZcams job to anyone else’s.
I agree, I could happily have a nap at 2pm due to exhaustion but a class full of children won’t teach themselves! 😂
I work 9am - 11:30pm most days with a 1 hour break in total, on my feet all day long, so listening to her saying CZcams is a hard job is HILARIOUS

Wow , the choice of words “when you working towards someone else’s dream” is hmm interesting . Not everybody has a luxury of working for themselves. I work for myself but I certainly remember the worries there are when you have another type of job. So it’s absolutely not true that you don’t care about 9 to 5 and “switch it off” or not think about your job. Human beings aren’t robots. Especially if a person wants to do any job as good as it could possibly be done.
What about watching, subscribing, liking, commenting etc? isn’t it working towards someone else’s (youtuber’s) dream? And nobody pays us for it lol. After watching I certainly didn’t feel like doing that.
or pushing promotion products or stuff they “create in collaboration “? Aren’t we better saving our time and money towards “our” dream.The dig wasn’t justified in my opinion. Or poor choice of words rather.
Right so I really think that you and Molly Mae from Love Island sound the same and I know that I’m the only one who thinks this but in my opinion you sound really similar😆

This isn’t hate but you keep talking about being interactive with your followers and it isn’t about numbers, but I’ve sent you quite a few tweets in the past and you haven’t even liked them let alone replied, same with comments but I know youtubers with over a million or the same and they reply so, is it difficult to reply to tweets because you get a lot of them? oh my goodness i just adore your videos Emily, i never ever get bored of them which is wicked. i did start a youtube channel but i got put down and just stopped because of the fact that i wasn't happy with my set up but tomorrow i am going to film another makeup video and i am so so excited to just stay motivated and hopefully keep going this time no matter on the setup, i know that my videos are not going to be so professional because i am starting but i love filming and editing. I started my own CZcams channel recently and I wanted to since I was about 11 years old because I loved the idea of making CZcams friends and having such a fun time🎉
I was actually debating whether to upload a video or not because I wasn’t too happy with it but I think it’s just the whole idea of ‘oh this has to be perfect’ when it really doesn’t and I realised that when you said it yourself that you grow and you learn from uploading more so I’ve uploaded it anyway Em💖💖 You’re such an inspiration and you’ll always be one of my fav CZcamsrs🥳🥳

I’d never be brave enough to sit down in front of a camera and film myself talking (I had to make a video of me signing a million dreams from the greatest showman in Makaton the other day (long story 😅) and that was the most horrendous thing ever, so no thanks! 😂) (I do however kind of write a blog about my journey of becoming a children’s nurse though...)

Love this video 🙌🏼 I recently started CZcams after the longest time of wanting to so it and the editing/uploading process is so long and by far takes more time than a normal 9-5. Although it's way more fun and interesting so it's definitely worth it!

Omg Emily, I had no idea that you've suffered with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. As someone who has struggled with it from age 14 it's so great to hear someone in your position talk about it! I would really love to hear more about your experiences and how you manage when things are tough, I'm sure it would go a long way to helping a lot of young people understand how the illness can manifest. Thank you so much for everything you share with us! ❤️

Normally really like your videos Emily but don’t think this come across very well about comparing CZcams to a “normal” job. I’m a nurse and work 38-48 hrs a week but that doesn’t mean out of my working hours that I don’t do any “work”. During my working day I could see upwards of 30 patients a day and outside of the ward we have to do online training, attend meeting, conferences, physical training, reply to emails, studying.. the list goes on. I can only speak on behalf of my profession but I’m sure there are plenty of “9-5” jobs that don’t stop once they have technically “clocked out”.

I think I've decided I want to start making CZcams videos! I did post one from my Disney World trip but that's it so far. But I'd love to do ones where I travel and vlog and stuff
I started a channel with my university American Sign Language final! I posted a video of myself signing the song Stand By You, and now I post videos about my vacations, Disney, my Disney College Program, and kinda just whatever I feel like vlogging!
I started a channel a few months ago, I’d really love to travel in the future and wanted a platform I could record it on so I never forget it, I loved this video !!
I'm still finding out my niche on here but I generally just love youtube. I love people and I love people who share their life or give information about anything! I'm in college now so I haven't uploaded in a while but I really want to get back into it full swing because I genuinely enjoy the creative process it's a way for me to try and be creative in my ideas for videos or the way I edit them! This video was such a cool video thanks for answering some questions.

I finally decided to take the jump and create my own channel after years of considering it! It definitely is a scary thing. A lot of people think it is just a case of filming yourself and uploading it, but the actual process of editing the whole video is actually very difficult and time consuming! I think a lot of people go into now a days thinking they're going to make money and become the next big thing, where as it should just be about filming videos that you love x

I do have a channel, but my main fear is people I know finding out... any advice from anybody reading this would be amazing! So really I am just wondering how to go about this, what happened when people you knew found out about your channel and should I just take the plunge and maybe posting it on my social media? I might not remember correctly, but I'm 90% sure this skirt is from Zara Kids, Emily talked about it on her instastories the other day.
My advice would be similar - just go for it! People might suprise you - probably they won't care too much, at least not enough to be mean about it - or you'll have cheerleading group in them! I was worried about the same thing when I started but it turned out that most people don't care and my closest friends are actually supporting me a lot, we can brainstorm ideas together and they're basically like my strongest support system! Hope you'll have a great experience and your friends will be cool about you vlogging ❤️
