    Oh my goodness this is genius! I made a 20 pound weighted blanket for a close friend. I didn’t do a slipcover though because I honestly I’ve never thought about that. I don’t even know how to make one to be honest. I sewed every column and row together. It was a beast to work with! I didn’t sew for a month after that

    Thank you so much. I have wanted to make one for myself and I need a 20 pounder also. The quilt behind you is gorgeous! Would you mind to share the pattern?😘

    One of my grandsons was in daycare he was 3. Very active boy. Would not nap, bothering others.
    Teacher asked mom to try a weighted blanket.
    So I made one. Teach sent a photo of him napping the first day he used the blanket...

    Thanks for this! My nephew is three years old and autistic. I was looking for a nice, straight-forward way to begin this project. I like that I can always adjust the weight as he gets older, too.

    I made a weighted pillow on recommendation by my psychiatrist after he diagnosed me with autism. I made it a 6 lb pillow with glass beads, muslin fabric, and a pillow form. It is supposed to be a substitute for my cat who is my emotional support animal. I made a cover out of faux-fur that mimiced my cat's fur texture.

    You might be able to figure out exactly a measurement that makes an ounce. Like a teaspoon or a tablespoon and then you wouldn't have to weigh each time you could just keep moving along at a faster rate

    I made 2 weighted blankets as gifts for last year's Christmas. I made 6.5 inch blocks. 10 blocks in a row, 15 rows. Oh what joy filling and sewing. I did the sewing on my Janome. Only broke one needle. Lol. Each recipient of the blankets love them. BUT , I do NOT want to make any more. 😊

    Hi LL did you happen to do follow up with a cover easy on & off? I have a duva (spelling lol ?) Slip cover and it had buttons across to hold blanket in.. what a joke there's got to be a better way. I have safety pins ( how cozy Is that I ask you🤦‍♀️) all along the edge keeping .. no scratch that, rewind ... TRYING to keep the blanket in place. If it weren't such a soft smooth cotton id ditch it all together. Love to figure out what type of cotton it is so I could make another and use it in other applications.. it's butter soft, YUM🙆‍♀️
    HAVE A BLESSED FRIDAY🤩

    What is the product name of the poly pellets you like?

    • @MPQS

      We bought them in bulk so we didn't have a brand. get unscented ones for sure though as others give off nasty chemical smells

    Oh yeah...how do u wash it?

  • @kchortu
    @kchortu Před 2 lety

    why not just make your tubes with extra seam allowance and stitch the snakes together like do them in 2s then take all the 2s and make 4s then put your 4s together, and just tie it into a duvet.

    I've never heard of a weighted blanket. What is the purpose of it ? I would think that would be hard to sleep under especially for a child. Does it get warm or something? Really weird!

      Virginia, Weighted blankets help in many ways, People with Anxiety and other similar conditions benefit from the weight associated with weighted blankets. The weight helps like the feeling of a hug from a loved one providing a calming influence. hope this helps explain a very little bit.
