  • This is the reality of Anglo-Eastern Shipping Company!!!
Please sign this petition about Justice For Seafarers and making the merchant navy a safe career:
    chng.it/wRRBnGj4dw
Shivam was born on the airforce campus of Gujarat. He was the jolliest and most kind-hearted person, always there for his friends, family, and even for stray animals. Being from a middle-class family Shivam wanted to study hard and give his parents everything in the world.
In 2014, he joined the merchant navy via Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Company. He was working for 6 years with this company and during this course, he mentioned a couple of times casually about the dark life and bullying onboard. But we never expected that we will get killed by this company onboard!
I am Anchal Malik. I and My Entire Family are ready to fight Anglo Eastern!!! They might have money but we have nothing to lose now!! We will make sure Shivam gets justice!!
Our Fight is To Make Merchant Navy A Safe Career For Everyone!!
If you know any Mariner who deserves justice just like Shivam then I am here to help!!

My deepest condolences to you, Shivam's sister and the rest of your family. It's heart breaking to hear about your brother.
Anglo Eastern Shipmanagement is one of the worst ship management companies in the world. The top man in India and at the Mumbai. headquarters is a person Mr. Vinay Singh. I have personally had a poor experience with this company in which I served at sea for a brief period and also with Mr. Vinay Singh. Most of the masters and senior officers employed by them or promoted to such positions are involved with the same brutal behaviour of this company towards personnel on board. If any of the masters or senior officers don't match up to the company's standards ( their lowness), such officers are done away with and they will also herald such slander against such officers that other companies would avoid employing these officers.
They will always cover up, conceal evidence, destroy evidence and apportion all blame to the crew member; even building up false cases against them using their corrupt masters and senior officers.. All this to safeguard their reputation ( which actually is rotten) and to avoid payments of the large amounts of monies that will arise due to claims that they will be subject to, thereby pleasing the ship owners and protecting their financial gains
Wilhelmsen Shipmanagement previously Barber's Shipmanagement falls into the same category and also promotes this illicit behaviour on board their vessels, that are going unnoticed and justice is never done. I have personally experienced this in this company.
To avoid claims due to crew members because of accidents on board, they will, through the agents set up local policemen to muster in large numbers on board and have one arrested so the innocent crew mamber is unable to process his complaint easily or approach the local ITF unit or any help for that matter.
The master, chief officer and the Mumbai office and it's Managing director should be strictly dealt with by the Law. Continue to raise this issue with the right advocates, shipping unions, the Shipping Ministry, the Directorate General of Shipping, all the maritime authorities at the concerned port and with the good, experienced and fearless officers who have pledged their support to you. Do not allow them to get away. Collect all the evidence against them as much as you can. Many good, sincere, hard working and loyal mariners have been tormented and I'll treated on board . Some crippled and many who have lost their lives with these ship management companies who are corrupt, inhuman, cruel and care less for the lives on board as their only interests is to run the management of ships to get the best margins of financial gain both for themselves and for the shipowners.
I am available if you need any information about what actually goes on in these ship management companies who advertise themselves as the best but are actually the worst.

Melville yr so Right . Absolutely disgusting the way this Company behaves. I didnt join them but was Sad during thier course n the way treat junior officers incl one Master who were attending Complaining no end . No decency to lead young officers. Job sake noone opens thier Mouth for the Truth n he was a Seafarer. Piir family is running pillar to post to find out what happened n doubt they got compensation n mainly compassion n empathy which is more important . Contact me if you like no is below i will do a correct analysis of this Case which is a coverup.

I did my cadetship from Anglo eastern, onboard my third ship around my 2 month one of the famous (for his arrogance nd tendency to sack people) master from that fleet joined onboard...
And from the first day only he started his thing, shouting over everyone and everything .. in the intial days his main targets were C/O, 3/O and C.cook.... after just 10 days he sacket 3/E then on long sailing he came after me... He made me work from 0400 hrs till 2230 everyday and my breakfast, lunch and dinner times were reduced to 30 mins nd no tea break for cadet... When C/O and 2/O tried to protect me he made their life miserable as the C/O was sailing with his family he had to step back ... This torture continued for 3 months and till then I had lost 11 kgs weight and was on the brink of breaking.. everyone had signed off giving medical or family emergency or someother reason... Now the new officer and crew were facing the same dilemma....
But once my seatime was completed and I had 15 extra days in my hand, that day I decided I had enough and when in afternoon around 1235 hrs he saw me in mess room having lunch he in his usual tone said "bhenchod tuje 1230 tak lunch khatam kr k deck pr jaane ko bola hai na", i slowly stood up went near to him and started slapping him and thanks to him only my palms till then we're as hard as stone, and guess what the messroom was full but no one came in between us to save him... I slapped him as hard as I can and just after 12-13 slaps he fainted.... From that day till my sign off he never came out of his cabin....
Everyone onboard wrote a letter to the company about the master's behaviour onboard and it was signed by everyone..
But the master is still sailing with AESM and I was kicked out, but no regrets i got a better company after my secondmate exams...

Its difficult n they will be most uncooperative .Compensation as per ITF CBA Collective Bargaining agreement.Alternatively call up ITF International Transport Federation for justice. This kind of incidents should not be tollerated.Tommorow another mariner might fall victim.
When management companies have the ability to scrutinize each and every cent spent on spares and stores ,why do they brush away such serious issues? Either they are involved ,or they don't care!

No one even came home to ask my parents how they were managing after him. It’s sad to hear that the shipping ministry and Indian govt is not taking its own people seriously. Only if this would have happened in another country the company wouldn’t have any license to operate. They should be made party of any FIR or case you put . We went pillar to post from MUI offices to the DG Shipping but there no help to us and finally we had to lawyer up in Dubai to get my brothers reports & ITF inspector in Belgium helped us. It’s a big fight as all the corrupt govt & NGO or even MUI people are supporting them but more families like us come together they will not be able to fool us any longer. I have been working in shipping for 9 years now and I can relate on how some shipping companies treat Indian seafarers. I wish your efforts and initiative will bring some constructive and bold changes in shipping laws. Once again be strong....i know you lost your brother and no one can replace him but you need to be even more stronger now for your parents. Sister, you made me cry so bad. I understand the pain you must be going through. You felt so helpless with the officers and the justice system that you were forced to put a video about this in such detail on CZcams. I am sorry to say this, but this could be a potential murder. There could have been a fight on ship. At one point I wanted to join the same company, but my future took a turn. Unfortunately, a friend of mine is now working with Anglo Eastern. I used to ask my friend how his life is on the ship. He used to tell me that there are crew members who harass him and certain people, every day and night, even while eating food. When a ship is in the mid of an ocean, life becomes so risky. In your case the company took care of everything about the potential crime on-board, using the fact that it could take days to come to the shore. I would suggest you to file a complaint against each officer and certain crew members and not just the company. Let everyone on the ship get interrogated and also get a petition to perform a lie detector test. Fight for this case as much as you could. I hope you get justice and those culprits got to prison for life.

Most of the Indian companies are like this, they care only profit and money, otherwise it has to be some reputed ownership companies which are there for the seafarer welfare. You must file an fir against the master of the ship and the company for hiding the truth to protect the real person behind this. Or else they must have solid proof to prove their innocence.

My deepest condolences to you and your family . I hope you get a competent legal team to investigate this matter further . Every Crew member on that ship at the time of Shivam's demise should be disembarked / repatriated and summoned to an investigation in India regardless of nationality . The Company must demonstrate a sense of responsibility and clarity and ensure a thorough investigation is carried with all crew members interviewed and investigated ashore by relevant authorities . The Ship should have been detained and crew investigated at the Port itself . This is a clear lapse and goes to show how much society as a whole cares for it's KEY Workers . Only the Crew of that ship will know the facts . It's a small world when at sea and everyone learns about each other's strength and weakness . If all fails , an FIR should be filled against every Crew member of that ship or a Court Summon issued against them for an investigation . The Truth will reveal itself eventually . Stay Strong Sister .

My personal advise is to get in contact with all the crew onboard. We dont know what happened but the series of events seems doubtful for sure.
So once again i will stress that try to contact the crew who was working with him onboard at the time. Someone will definitely be of good heart to help with the uncovering of truth.
And to anyone who has worked with Shivam and knows something about this, i beg you to please help the family with getting to the truth as a closure. Please keep in mind..and i am saying it as a shippy. Your loyalty should be to the industry and the community and not to your particular company because they provide you with means of earning. Remember.....if you do some mistake this same company wont hesitate a second to fire you irrespective of your years of service to them. And who knows if something like this is not checked in time then the next person might be you.
