Seen them 10 times since 76 - THey are Americas band for sure. Alan and Steve were two of the best pure guitarists I ever saw. Alan was crazy but gifted.
Awesome band and performance - I know because I was there in 1976, just 16 years old and only my 3rd gig - many followed. This was the opening number and it grabbed the crowd from the word go. I had gone to Knebworth to see Skynyrd and the Stones - my two favourite bands at the time and still are to this day. Lynyrd Skynyrd blew everyone off the stage that day - they were outrageously good and the sound quality was perfection. An incredible memory for me was the rendition of Free Bird on that sultry summers evening as the sun was setting - it was the highlight of the whole day and difficult to follow. I went on to see Skynyrd at the Rainbow Theatre the following year and they were equally good there too - sadly the plane crash deprived us of so much talent. I will never forget Knebworth 1976 that's for sure. All the bands ran late that day and the Stones didn't get on till about midnight so gig finished about 2am. My only thoughts then were "How the hell do I get home?!", but that was just secondary as I was on a high - I had witnessed rock history.
Here it is folks the best band of any decade there ever was in music and any decade in the future nobody could ever stand up to this band Only The Originals the band this day sucks but Lynyrd Skynyrd is and was and always will be the best of rock and roll southern rock and roll any kind of rock and roll you want to call it nobody compares not even close
The guitar assault was always great....my show was in Charlotte in 1974,I was eighteen and never have I seen a better band.Missed them every day since that crash. Cried for a week after.
What band had 3 superb players like them !!!!! They would wipe the floor with any band in their day and even today no one comes close to the kings!!! All of them special in their own way!!!!!
Well done, Mr. Antny. Ty for a much cleaner version of this than the average Joe uploads. Seems like a labor of love on your part. This OG's gonna sub and see what else You got.
The funny thing is they were the best band to play that entire show! No one could compare after this set. Three lead guitarists and Ronnie's badass stage presence, you kidding me. Artimis killing it on the skins!
Skynyrd was always a Class Act, But Mr. Billy Powell added A Lot of Class to the music, All of the many days practicing in the HELL HOUSE, Payed off, The 145 people here that put a thumbs down, i guess that they have Hearing Ploblem, Cousin Figel
I seen Lynyrd Skynyrd 7 times before the plane crash, they were the best band I ever seen. I loved their music to this day even with the Skynyrd of today, but the original took everybody by storm.

I love skynryd...it shaped and formed my identity as I was growing up as did the allman brothers...love them both...and Allen Collins was the man on that firebird....gaines,Rossington,artimus,leon ,Billy Powell and last and certainly not least....mr.ronnie vanzant....take a bow...
They were the best
Rossington, Collins and Gaines. What rock music is all about!
Simply the best ever !
You got that right.
But they needed Ronnie to complete the circle.
@@jefflindsey9589 and Artimus on drums and Leon on bass
Jeff Ayers you got that right
This version of the band was just getting started And they were great. So tragic and we'll never know how great they could have become. I will listen to this and only imagine. BEST SOUTHERN ROCK EVER #TIMELESS
Legendary band.....they slayed all.
That timing is on point!!
i agree i was raised in bay are got to see all the great acts of the seventies, todays music sucks, long live real rock and roll
The 1st time I heard this song ,totally took me away. The guitar/drumming and lead guitars were mind freekin. New rock like never before.!!
I saw them on July 5th 1976/ with Ronnie! The Hells Angels got into a fight with some Marines,Ronnie said if ya,LL don't stop fighting,I'm going to jump down there and kick some ass! Venue Groves Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC, Clay F
Seen them 10 times since 76 - THey are Americas band for sure. Alan and Steve were two of the best pure guitarists I ever saw. Alan was crazy but gifted.
steve gaines what a okie.....priceless
Kick ass band!
When rock music "progressed" into what it's become, they left something precious behind, and Skynyrd had it, baby!
Absolutely stunning
The were definitely the best live band on the planet.
Amen Brother Ed!
Ed Reebenaker I agree with you, buddy. If I ever walk in to a quiet bar, I play old Skynyrd and get the party started.
rock doesn't get a whole lot better than these 2 live songs
The best ever! Seen them 4 times in concert!
The guitar assault was always great....my show was in Charlotte in 1974,I was eighteen and never have I seen a better band.Missed them every day since that crash. Cried for a week after.
I'd give like $1000 to see this show tomorrow
No sir MY SOUL
Your a cheap bass you couldn’t meet magic johnson for 1000$ next month much less this band for a 1000$ try 1m at least . Tight Ass
cody9fitlife
Lol, good one
cody9fitlife it was a rhetorical offer lol
What band had 3 superb players like them !!!!! They would wipe the floor with any band in their day and even today no one comes close to the kings!!! All of them special in their own way!!!!!
I love these songs and so do my neighbors!
Turn it up
Well done, Mr. Antny. Ty for a much cleaner version of this than the average Joe uploads. Seems like a labor of love on your part. This OG's gonna sub and see what else You got.
3 guitar attack! So good!
My 2 fave Skynyrd tracks back to back! Who-ho-ho! Who-ho-ho!
Hello , Best show ever. just a wishin I could of a been there SKYNYRD RULES and God Bless
Fantastic performance as always
Wow what a blast from the past, this footage is remarkable!
I agree with you 💯 percent
The funny thing is they were the best band to play that entire show! No one could compare after this set. Three lead guitarists and Ronnie's badass stage presence, you kidding me. Artimis killing it on the skins!
poor Rolling Stones did not stand a chance following these Florida boys lost in England.
Why do you think that plane went down????
Jacksonville had. Southern Rock down to a distinct talent . Lynyard Skynyard/ 38 special/ Molly Hatchet/ Black Foot/ Big Engine. ect ect.
damn Dude you are right
Puro Lynyrd Skynyrd para siempre
Preach on.
Best Southern Rock band ever
Twenty years ahead of everyone else.
I’ve listened to these songs millions of times, and never saw them play...exciting...definitely male...Alan is most fun to watch ...but they all are
3:01 , See how great was Artimus Pyle, I think he's underated!
Raw talent turned into a tight band through hard work and perseverance in a short period of time. Original and one of a kind...
4:15-4:37 Collins and Rossington are absolutely fucking killing it!
Skynyrd was always a Class Act, But Mr. Billy Powell added A Lot of Class to the music, All of the many days practicing in the HELL HOUSE, Payed off, The 145 people here that put a thumbs down, i guess that they have Hearing Ploblem, Cousin Figel
Wow this is the greatest rock band i know i just love southern rock wish i was born in southern usa
MICK AND KEITH WERE LIKE WTF WE GOT TO FOLLOW THESE GUYS. STONES WERE NUMBER 2 THIS WONDERFUL DAY !!!!!
Put that in the history books
billy murph were The Rolling Stones there that day? What was this???
@@bk14nyc this was a Stones concert they weren't supposed to go on the tongue but Ronnie dragged them on during Freebird. I wish I was there
@@tighe2424 Yup. It was a big FU to the Stones from Ronnie:)
Dame rite.
i love this track it takes me back and its still freakn awesome
I seen Lynyrd Skynyrd 7 times before the plane crash, they were the best band I ever seen. I loved their music to this day even with the Skynyrd of today, but the original took everybody by storm.
100 percent spot on and i,m english and a stones fan , i just love the feel of MCA,it sounds current and yet its 30 odd years ago !!!! ...u tube skynard on the old grey whistle test
